Toy had exceeded its shelf lifeby Fred Free Flight (1 out of 5 stars)

My grandson was so excited to get this for his birthday. Unfortunately I was leaving town when he returned from Spring Break and I was unable to go with him and fly it right away. When I got back the packaging had been tossed and that's when I discovered that the internal LIPo battery that powered the motors would not hold a charge. I was able to open the module that contained the battery and the circuit board. The LIPo battery was swollen and obviously no good. Since the packaging had been discarded I felt it was not fair to claim a return. However I feel that this toy had sat somewhere for a long time for the internal battery to go bad. Maybe that is the nature of toys sold long after they are manufactured. Anyway, the grandson continues to pester me to fix it. I have the toy but I have safely disposed of the LIPo battery.

This was bought as a Christmas present for my nephew and it is a good product.
In December, this toy cost $70 IN THE STORE and it cost almost HALF of that price ONLINE.
I was a little wary of buying it online because of the packaging reviews that are mixed in with the product reviews. I purchased it anyway.
This is EASY OPEN PACKAGING. Personally, i thought it was great and easy to open with little waste left over to throw away.
This is the same product that can be bought in the store but without the difficult plastic, thick colorful cardboard, and endless twist ties. (I think there were two screws to unscrew and its out of the flimsy package.)
I recommend this product to Iron Man fans and parents of Iron Man fans. It's a decent product that flies well.
My nephew is young and cant really fly it on his own but he is still excited to have it and play with it. That's what matters most.
Some people complained about the cheap packaging. Some complained that there were no instructions.
I didn't have these complains. I figured the details could be looked up on youtube. And the product did come with a little note saying to watch the videos online before operating it.
Sty-ron man does actually fly!

Okay, first off, this is a Styrofoam board RC flying craft. Second off, I purchased this item on sale - I'm not sure if it is worth the full retail price, but this is a flying superhero that did work well for me...leading innovations such as this usually come at a price. It is MUCH cheaper than any real hobby grade item of the same type. Besides, Iron Man is supposed to be expensive high-tech equipment...actually, scratch that last part; however this is branded merchandise from a wildly popular movie series.
I had an almost similar RC foam board airplane years ago by Tyco called Skyforce. The planes were very fragile (thin single sheets of foam!); however they had to be light enough to fly well and that they did. The motors sounded and worked almost the same as this product and it also charged from the base. The Skyforce planes were great, but you have to be very careful to not bend or crush them and they don't fly at all in the wind. I consider the IM to be a bit better than those planes in that he is actually stronger built (layered and trussed). Yeah, still it's FOAM, but it's not like those foam gliders from the toy store that come in a flat rectangular envelope. I keep the IM in the shipping box for transport and always make sure I keep the controller separate (if you put the controller with six batteries in it in the same box as the craft is like a bowling ball in your car trunk with a few dozen fresh eggs).
The IM flies fairly well and my family was awestruck when I took it over our frozen lake. Everyone loved it! I flew it very easily (surprisingly easily) even in slightly windy conditions...I wouldn't recommend this though! The trick is to fly straight with 3/4 or full power (into slight wind if there is any) and thus climb and then only after you have some altitude should you trim and then try bits of turning. Once you're comfortable with the craft, you can try sharper and higher speed turns as well as power-off gliding and swooping - if you apply full power and full turn, you can start a good high speed death spiral and then straighten out and ease off throttle for a recovery. On the second flight I was starting to swoop down towards my amused spectators (no worries since I didn't hit anyone...he's plastic and foam with props on the back anyway). Lots of IM fun! :)
Always read the instructions people!!! You're only smarter than the instructions if you've read them. =P
This makes it a better flyer for dive recovery and controlled descents

I have both the Iron Man and the Hero. I am an experienced RC flyer. Iron Man has the flat parts shaped with a gentle airfoil curvature. This makes it a better flyer for dive recovery and controlled descents. Turns must be made with light tapping o the control stick. If you hold the stick ON, it will cause a spiral dive. The props are exposed enough that they can be knocker off. I was surprised when this happened with a good landing. I am now trying to buy new props.

I got this toy for my nephew's 6th birthday. The price was definitely right...and it was his favorite present. He literally danced a jig when he opened it.
Upon ordering, I worried about it being damaged during shipment, b/c it is made of such lightweight material, but it was packaged well and had fragile cautions all over the box. No damage.
The only down side is that the charge only lasts maybe 30 minutes...but those are some super fun minutes!!!

Made cheaply , bought it for my girlfriend's son and the propellers constantly fall off. My impression is that is junk. He played with it two times and put it away, brought it back out to show his friends and after several tries getting it to fly placed it back on the shelf . I'm out over 50 bucks for a toy he probably won't ever play with again. I personally do not recommend it.

I saw this product while shopping at Toys-R-Us. It was listed for $79.99. Amazon had the same item listed for $29.99, no tax, and free 2 day shipping for Prime members. I was a bit disappointed when I realized that the product did not come in the original packaging. However, I did not feel that the original box was worth $50. The package came with a full colored print out of the picture on the original box, which I simply taped to the outside of Amazon's box to make the gift more aesthetically pleasing. The product itself is new and undamaged. I would give 5 stars if there was a disclaimer telling customers that the product is not in the original packaging.
Broke too easily, but it was fun!

I only recommend it for kids over 10, maybe even older because it breaks easily and younger children don't have the dexterity to control it. It was a lot of fun! It flys fantastically and is amazing! Our control knob and his helmet broke within 3 hours of launching it. So, we had one fun Christmas Day and then it was broken. Can't find replacement parts, so now it's under my bed.

I chose 2 stars because the Iron man body is built very well however the propellers are not. The very first flight one of them broke and I haven't had it in the air since. I am waiting until I can find more replacements so that I don't just end up with useless toy. Although this toy is geared at children, I don't believe that it would be good for them with the ease of how the propellers brake.

This toy is fun to fly. Make sure you charge the remote control well before flying.
Also it's better to fly in an open area like a school football field or park.
