Boy this is fun. Well made, use with your typical propane turkey frier burner. I do think the worm coil could use a few more turns, (that is my next project). I have a few plastic liter bottles I keep frozen and use them to help keep the coil tub cool. A good way to get started in a fun hobby. The wife even says it looks good and she has it in the corner of the dining room when not in use, which is not often. Doesn't take long to get the technique going by watching the temperature. I have a proof hydrometer I use to keep track of progress. Once you get down to 100 proof you need to start collecting in increments like coffee cups. You will be able to tell when the "tails" start by the sudden change in taste and smell, both bad compared to the hearts which are sweet. I load it with 5 gallons (6 or 7 might be good but any more is too much, it will easily foam over if not careful. So, 5 gallons takes about 2 hours start to finish. Toss the first ounce, it comes over at about 68 degrees C on the supplied thermometer. Then start throttling down the heat to slowly approach the 90/93 degree C zone. This is where production goes on. My first quart is usually 130 or so proof. When the temperature starts going above 94C and the proof goes below 100 you you have to monitor in small increments because you are approaching the end of the heart (good stuff) run and moving into the tail. As I mentioned, the taste difference is dramatic. Save your tails up to 99C for making another run to strip the good stuff from them, also the heads you cut out too. So, you have four zones of product, the first ounce per five gallons which is acetone and methyl alcohol, toss this out, the heads which is about half a pint in five gallons that does not taste the best and now 2 or 3 quarts of heart before the tails start. I generally get a quart of tails as I cut off early. This if for a wash that has a brix sugar count of about 22/23 or a hydrometer reading of 14/15% potential alcohol. You need to use distilling yeast not beer yeast. Plenty to play with. Like the costco aqave nectar some sugar and tequila end product.

Came unusable missing all kinds of parts and guaranteed checked for holes, but had them. They don't return calls until you want a refund, when they deny it all. I am in the midst of hiring an attorney because they don't even want their defective product back and I am not paying another dime for it.
