A lifesaver!by Paulette (5 out of 5 stars)

I have chronic plantar fasciitis, and were it not for the Mogo seat, I would be so much more restricted than I am. If I stand more than 5-10 minutes at a time, my feet become swollen and painful for days. The Mogo seat makes it possible for me to enjoy so many things, even when I am traveling. It packs up very compactly, so I have taken it around the world with me.
I take it in with me to museums, which lets me enjoy the exhibits the way they are meant to be seen. I used to have to kneel on the ground, which is very sub-optimal - one can't see most of the exhibits that way. And its amazing for hikes - whether in local county parks or in national parks. I rest my feet every 3/4 mile or s by sitting on it, and that lets me get out and about and enjoy the outdoors which I love.
The Mogo seat makes all the difference for me. I'm so gad I have one!
PS: In museums and on hikes, people are constantly asking me about my Mogo seat. I think I should get a commission from the company! :)
A must-have for back pain
by William B. Jones (5 out of 5 stars)

I had two back surgeries for a herniated disc and sciatica 15 years ago. I reinjured myself almost a year ago slipping on a sidewalk on a rainy day. After the 3rd surgery, I was not doing any better. Prolong sitting and standing at work exacerbated the pain. My PT advised me to avoid sitting at all cost. I use a standing desk at work and want something to support me while standing. I found this sitting stick on Amazon. It allowed me to maintain an angle >110 deg between my body and legs while keeping my back straight. After using this stick for a month, with the combination of physical therapy exercise as well as medication, my pain (on a scale of 10) had reduced from 10 to 3. If you are suffering from back pain, I highly recommend using this sitting stick with a standing desk/countertop. For those who are not in pain, this is also a great portable seat for public transportations. I got a lot of compliments using it on a crowded bus or a train when there was no seat available.
Much better than actually standing!

Interesting idea, Major implementation issues

The idea is very interesting but two major issues with how this is made makes it limited in application...
1- You ABSOLUTELY have to put it against a wall, o.w. it'd be impossible to maintain it at a certain point and undoubtedly it's gonna slip away from your posterior.
2- The surface where your bums sit is not made for just any random fabric... While it works ok with jeans, but it'd be impossible to lean against it and not slip wearing cotton or any material softer than jeans.
Considering the exorbitant price of the item, I can't give it more than 1-star.
Good if you can keep it on the right setting. Slides out with no force.

This stool works wonders for my chronic back issues when introduced to the rest of my ergonomic chairs. I tried the nearest competitor product that folds down into a tall boy sized can but found it unstable and uncomfortable at best. The sliding mechanism buckled under load despite being secured because of the narrow and thin seat.
The Active chair definitely feels a lot better with only adjusting the height and set up is easy. It's fast to set up and it's a good compromise.
I do have what may be a bug or a feature that caused a fall. The red push button only locks the downward direction while the upwards direction is NEVER locked unless it reaches the tallest setting.
The lock easily slides out making the stool 4-6 inches taller then you intended. A slight flick of the wrist causes the entire top shaft to expand.
Please confirm if this is something you see in your purchase. If it was intentionally designed to move freely in one direction then I would like to understand the logic.
I saw nowhere in the literature about the freely expanding top shaft.
Great idea, but hurts your butt and calves. Needs custom seats.

The concept is great. It's super light, portable and really takes the weight off your legs. I have a standing desk and am 6'3" and I'm not at the max setting for it. You get used to the leaning, and it takes a couple of days to get really comfortable. Shipping was free, which was awesome. And 2 day shipping, at that!
The problem is that the seat is just a bad design. It's uncomfortable in material and shape. They should have gone with a gel, rather than the super hard foam (more like plastic). You won't want to sit on it for more than 30 minutes. On the bright side, that's good to get you walking around.
Also you'll need to find some kind of foot rest option. It opens your shins up if your feet are flat on the floor. But that compresses your calf muscles. I've had trouble finding a good, sturdy footrest that can stay at 45 degrees or so.
Until they release custom seats, 2 stars.
You'll definitely want to invest in an angled footrest, as it puts your feet at an odd angle which can tighten up the backs of your legs.
Just ok

Bought this for my standing desk. The idea is really good, however, Its not as awesome as I had hoped. It kind of makes your underwear ride up when you are "sitting" on this. It is comfortable enough, but I find that after a while, I start to get some pain at my heal. I will continue to use it, but I do not think I would really recommend it because I absolutely love it. It serves it purpose, but I would not use this in a real office environment, but for a home office it is ok. Does not slip on tile, which is good.
Relatively inexpensive way to make a standing desk more comfortable

While I like having a standing desk at work and at home, there are some periods where I would like to sit. As I've got a standing desk that is only for standing (it's elevated by concrete blocks), my options were limited as my budget was limited. So, I bought the Mogo as a way to give my knees a bit of a rest occasionally, especially at the end of the day.
I've found it's important to have a tiny box or stool to frequently rest one of my legs on, bent, during the day, switching between legs. It helps reduce the amount of stress and tension of standing fully straight for 8-12 hours. However, that's not always enough.
I've been using the Mogo for a few days and while I like the concept, I have some reservations that might be fixable with a slightly more expensive Mogo:
* It creaks. There are plastic parts on the seat that rub against other plastic and the metal of the stand. If you shift your weight much, it's likely to creak. While it's livable, the noises are annoying both to me and to nearby offices. It sounds "cheap." It's not so cheap that I lack confidence in its ability to provide a seat ... it just isn't as solid and well designed as I'd expected.
* The seat is about as hard as it could be. It's ergonomic in general shape, but it's not particularly comfortable for an extended period of time. Here's where I'd like to see an upgrade in particular, to add a bit of cushion to the seat. It wouldn't need to be much to make the seat feel like I was sitting on plastic.
* There are tiny bumps on the seat likely to increase friction. I don't find they help much, and I can feel them through my pants when I sit/lean. I'd like to see them replaced by a grippy cushion instead.
* I've tightened the seat more than once to the base. It's never been super loose, but I wonder if it will loosen over time.
* I need to wear shoes or have a higher traction area for my feet if I'm only wearing socks as the additional lean-factor makes it harder to stay in one place. I was most surprised by that and hadn't considered it at all before buying. It's not a deal breaker.
Ultimately, I'll keep looking for another option. In the meantime, I'll continue to use the Mogo.
Update:
The Mogo now includes a cushion! I bought this as a $30 option last year and have used it for a while. While the cushion doesn't address all of the issues, it makes the seat more comfortable to sit on for a longer period of time. I use it for an hour or two most work days now (where as without the cushion, it was only in use when I needed to sit/lean for a while). I'd still like a better option though. I'm increasing the rating by a star (3 to 4) as they now include the cushion for no extra cost.
Took a while to get used to, but fell apart after 6 months

Took about a week to get used to leaning against the hard seat, but after that it was really useful at a standing desk. However it's slowly been breaking over the past month, where one button to control the height on one side fell into the pole, then the seat broke off of it's threaded mount on the top (I epoxied it back in place) now the other button to adjust the height fell into the pole and I have a pencil keeping it in place....

This is a poorly engineered product. I was in the second day of using it and it collapsed right under me causing an injury. It has a telescopic mechanism. It was also bent when it collapsed. Cheap construction. Beware of it safety issues.
