I bought this 4 months ago and loved it at first, small, simple, just what I needed to simplify my life by shreeding confidential information as it came through my door, however it is not shredding as well anymore , it leaves the pieces together towards the end of the paper piece. I contacted amazon and supplier and nothing to be done, I am researching to see if I can sharpen the blades again, tried foil, nothing yet, very dissapointed

If you're considering buying this, it's probably because you occasionally want/need to shred something and you're tired of trying to tear it up yourself. That's exactly what this is perfect for and it really works great. It's actually a lot easier to twist than I thought it would be... It takes almost no effort at all. It is a bit small, so do be aware of that (aperture for paper is only about 4½").

Handle cracked in 30 mins.

The blade itself looked pretty good enough to last for long time but the hand wheel was the problem. The reaseon why I gave 2 star is because the blade was great but the handle broke within 30 minutes of using it to shred some paper. I didn't realize that it was broken but the wheel wasn't turning well and was making weird noises. Somehow it came off and and I saw that the plastic part that turns the wheel was cracked. I'm trying to still use it by applying some super glue to the cracked part. It work ok for awhile but need to retouch with glue every often. The picture is the cracked part with 3 coats of super glue.

One Letter at a Time

There is something just so satisfying from manually shredding your mail with this. Like almost therapeutic. My stress levels have gone down and I have less mail with delicate information.

To be honest tho. If you have a lot of mail like tubs and tubs, this thing will take forever. It takes three shredding processes for just one typical mail. That is because you have to fold each page and only accepts one page at a time. It's not suggested to shred unopen letters and mail. A post card thickness is the maximum it can shred in one go and does give a slight resistance.

I suggest if you have no patience, then don't invest in this particular shredder but probably an automatic trashbin type one.

Seriously tho, this product is awesome. I am buying another one just so I can have a back up for my current one.

I like it enough that I bought a second one after my first one broke. I made the mistake of shoving more paper into the feed than what I already knew was supposed to be the max of two sheets, causing the gears inside to bend out of proportion in every direction. I just wish they made one that you could feed the full width of a letter-size sheet of paper into (8.5 inches), or one where you can insert a sheet folded in half or in thirds horizontally (of course, shredding paper horizontally is not as effective in shredding information, but it would be nice to just have that option).

It's hand-cranked and can only shred one page at a time so don't expect to be able to do a lot of work with it. It feels kinda nice to use and I consider it almost therapeutic to be able to shred paper manually. It just wouldn't be the most practical shredder in an office setting.

Perfect for used checks

I've been using it for two months. It's perfect for shredding the occasional check that I deposit remotely. Before, I'd let already-deposited checks pile up before I took the time to carefully dispose of them. Now I hold this device over a trash can and shred the check as soon as my bank has processed my deposit. And it's very ergonomically designed so using is easy and satisfying.

MUJI hand shredder is therapeutic (like others have said) & a great gift. I love hand shredding as I get my mail with this gadget. I have a full size electric shredder but it stops working after five minutes and it's a hassle to drag to an outlet and plug in. This is handy to just go through the mail without risking someone stealing your information. I removed a star because it does get jammed easily and I need to take a deconstructed paper clip to clear it. That said- I enjoy the process for some reason. I ordered two more as gifts for others.

This little shredder works as advertised. But be sure you know: it's very small. I have to rip papers in half before putting them through. You twist the side with your hand, so nothing is automatic here. You're also only supposed to put one sheet of paper through at a time. It's quite time consuming, but it's sharp and works well.

The action of shredding paper with this is rather therapeutic. I love how small it is because i can store it in my desk drawer instead of having a large heavy shredder take up space on my floor. Granted I only have things to shred every so often so I would not recommend this for people who have large shredding needs.

The only annoying slightly thing is that you have to fold letter size papers in half in order to feed it through.

I bought this shredder to shred an occasional document with important information on it. I love how small it is and does what needs to be done well. If you have only a few documents to shred at a time, this works well. If you are trying to shred multiple documents very often, this is likely not the right shredder for you. Great product. Small but gets the job done.
