The good, the bad, and other options.

I had high hopes for this batter dispenser but it just doesn't work that well. It only works when you are using a lot of heavy but thin batter and it doesn't completely empty. You're left with about a half a cup to a cup of batter you'll need to spoon out the top and you can't have things like blueberries or nuts in your batter because it will clog. If the hole were bigger I think it would work a lot better but it's just too small to be useful unless you are just using it to measure out a couple cups of plain batter in a cake pan, but why wouldn't you just pour it in from the mixing bowl?

I tried making cupcakes and it worked well until it was about a quarter full then you have to shake it out (can get messy) or take it out the top, but it wasn't too bad. I would consider using it that way again if I didn't have a ice cream/cookie scoop to use. I also tried pancake batter and that was worse. I don't use a very thick batter because my family likes thinner pancakes and the batter came out sooooo sloooow I dumped it back in the bowl and used a ladle to spoon out the rest. Another issue is that the measurement marking are only for cups and milliliters and it would be more useful to have smaller increment markings as well.

A few good things are that it held the batter well with no leaking but a little bit of batter dripped off the bottom when I made cupcakes but you can set it on the lid to catch any dripping. The handle that releases the batter is easy to pull and it was pretty easy to clean as long as you don't let the batter dry, I washed it by hand because I don't have a dishwasher.

All-in-all I would not purchase this again because I don't find it useful and instead of making the baking process faster it makes it longer with more dishes to wash.

If you are looking for something to measure out your batter in each pan get a kitchen scale. You can get one for a little bit more than what this costs and every kitchen needs a scale anyway.

If you are looking for something to measure out cupcakes or muffins get an ice cream/cookie scoop. They are easy to use, come in different sizes, fast, and all your cupcakes/muffins/cookies will be the same size and cook at the same rate.

I loved the first one but when my son dropped it ...

Stick with the metal ones! I have now bought two of this item and both broke. The second one broke after ONE use and is actually in 3 pieces right now! I loved the first one but when my son dropped it is broke so I bought a metal one. I liked the volume of this one so I figured years later it would be better and have evolved to be more sturdy, it did not, is the same thing as years ago. The problem I have had both times is the handle and slide part brakes/pulls away and this last one the rubber seal part fell off as well. I love this things since I make dozens of cupcakes a week but I will steer clear of this one in the future. Unfortunately I waited too long and can no longer return it, but I would have!

Great until it breaks...

I absolutely loved my batter dispenser... Until it broke. I've had it almost a year and have used it maybe 5 times. It worked well and the only issue I had was the bottom area where there is a raised circle around the opening. This prevents all the batter from being used. This was a small issue. This morning I pulled it from the cabinet and the bottom half of the plastic handle broke. Then I tried to pull the handle to see if I could still use it and the rest of the handle broke off and the metal fell out. The plastic is the hard brittle type and cannot stand up to the force of the metal. I can still maybe use by sliding the disc across the bottom manually but I probably won't ever use again. Very disappointing as it is a great idea. If it can be manufactured with plastic that is more giving or metal it will last. Also, I only hand washed it so it was never in the dishwasher.

I love not having to scrub messy cupcake pans anymore!!!!

I LOVE this thing!!! Let me tell you one thing i HATE, i HATE cleaning cupcake trays. Scrubbing off the mix that bakes on to them is like top 5 worst chore to do, because we all know the dishwasher doesnt ever get all that stuff off. So, this little gem has eliminated that problem for me! I mix a whole batch of cupcakes, usually funfetti, and the whole thing fits in this dispenser with ease.

It is mostly easy to clean, although the little part that the liquid comes out of is a tad tricky. You have to blast it with hot water soon after using it so the cake mix doesn't gunk up the little hole.

Man, I really need therapy......

My husband got me this and at first I thought "Oh yea, another gadget that will never be used and will just fill up our basement." I didn't realize that it would become one of my most favorite things!! I bake cupcakes/muffins every few days and I don't know if someone who bakes them less would want to have this but it really works and is so much fun. Boy, I guess that is pretty sad that this can make me so happy, but you just fill it up with batter and squeeze the handle and without splatters or fuss, you get perfect amounts in each cup. Most of my favorite recipes don't have "big" things in them, and judging by the hole, very big blueberries, dates or walnuts could cause it to plug up. I would think this would be good for pancake batter too - I'm trying that tomorrow!! Anyway, I could not be more pleased and this is one time when my husband knew more then me. His reward: lots more baking and a happy wife! :-)

Dispenses very neatly but very hard to clean the bottom part
by Mommy (2 out of 5 stars)
December 17, 2015

Great idea but very hard to clean the bottom parts where the batter is being dispensed since the piece goes inside & it's not detachable. & when I put it in the fridge overnight with some left over batter inside it, it hardened on the bottom & was impossible to open since it stuck like glue. After I put it to soak for hours it finally detached but it was extremely hard to wash/clean the inside. So if it's simpler to wash I would've give it more stars because it isn't their fault that I left it with batter overnight. Though they should have it in the instructions.

It works better than I expected. Even tried filling it with water to see if it leaked, but the seal at the bottom does not let anything through until you want it to. Excellent for the price

So many uses!

I was skeptical that this would be that much of an asset when baking. I couldn't have been more "off". It's wonderful! Cupcakes come up even and there's no dribbling from the bowl to the pan, no getting batter between the liner and the pan and clean-up us a breeze. Also use it for candy-making, individual bundt cakes, small loaves of sweet bread, funnel cakes, pizzelles, pancakes, waffles - you name it! Well worth whatever I paid for it!

A WINNER

Used it for the first time today. I had doubts, but, it worked EXCELLENTLY.
(I) bought it after looking at a different, MUCH more expensive stainless steel version that had leak complaints galore.

A FEW drips on the counter after making about 40 pancakes. It is INEXPENSIVE, and SEE-THRU with "CUPS" and "ML" scales.

NOT a high-end unit. Made mechanically SIMPLE, cheap, and to my surprise, it W O R K S. Will it last 100 years? ABSOLUTELY NOT! but for under $8 (I) am not going to complain... AT ALL.

Start Each Day Like It's Your Birthday

This was purchased for me for Christmas of 2013. It is Dec of 2015 and the handle broke :( I used it about once a month regularly for just about 2 years and had no problems with it. I have a feeling the handle broke b/c something fell on it in my cabinet. I did not wash it in the dishwasher, always hand washed. I used it for pancakes, cupcakes, and other batters. It worked great. The color that arrived for me was red and clear, not the color pictured. I would recommend this, but know the plastic is thin and you do need to use care when using this product.

Very poorly made

I absolutely loved this the first time that I used it. The second time it wouldn't work but I was able to fix it and use it. The third time I was in love again and the fourth time it broke beyond repair. This is a good concept but cheaply made and a waste of money. I am now in the market for a metal one.
