The problem with not filling up until your gas light comes on isn't that you're being carelessly dangerous or unwittingly living on the edge, it's that sometimes you get stuck inside ginormous gridlocked clusterclucks... [Read more]Top Reviews
Out of Gas and Out the Moneyby Awelowynt (1 out of 5 stars)

I'm sitting on the side of the road right now as I write this on my phone.
I got a little preoccupied and forgot to fill up after I got off work. My car started to lose power, so I pulled to the side, grabbed the bottle out of the tank and emptied it into the tank. I will say the funnel was clever and worked quite well (+1 star for packaging).
Unfortunatly, the product doesn't work. (-5 stars)
It says to use while the engine is warm. Well, There was about a one minute delay between engine off and trying to start and I can't get it to go. The engine turns over once or twice and then dies.
I recommend spending money on AAA instead.
Edit - Thankfully I made it home just fine. My sister came to my rescue with a can of actual gasoline about 30 minutes after I ran out of gas. My car started right up, so there was no adverse effect on my engine that I'm aware of.
Do not buy unless you can keep in the bed of a truck

Bought this for myself and friend who often travels alone. I will NOT give this product to her. Like many of the reviewers stated, the seal is defective. I had the product in my car for about a week (in spring, with temperatures in the high 50's or low 60's, so not incredibly hot). I started to notice a very strong chemical smell in my car that was making me feel quite sick. We checked all over the car until someone asked if there was anything in my trunk. Lo and behold, the seal was no good and the product must have been splashing around whenever I hit bumps/potholes on the highway. I had to leave my trunk open and windows down for two days to get the smell to even a tolerable level. I guess the product would be okay in the bed of a pickup truck, but don't expect the bottle to be full when you go to use it.
Not sure the smelt is tooooo much.

Just received this product. I am not sure if I can put it in my vehicle.
The smell is over powering taking it out of the box it came in.
I have a van no trunk so the smell would be in the same compartment as I am. Magic tank is in
the garage , fed x delivered it today. the fumes it gives off makes it hurt to breath.
defective container seal

I got an order of two half-gallon directly from their website.
I haven't used it yet, luckily. I trust that it will work based on their claims.
I am giving it only 2 stars, because the seal of the container is defective. It seems to me the emergency fuel is corrosive to the glue of the seal, which is a manufacturing issue. I called the number listed on the container (emails with no reply), I was told by Eric that a replacement would be shipped out to me the next week. Guess what? its been more than a month now, and still nothing in the mail.
I wrapped the container in 12 plastic bags, and I think it cuts down the odor by 99%. I'm leaving it in the car, otherwise, this is useless to me.
I do not recommend it, unless they are able to fix the container seal problem.

I ordered this for a friend in Indiana. She kept in her car about a year and a half. She ran out of gas one day and used it and worked fine. She did not report any issues with the container. She secured it well it is my guess.

I got two half gal containers of Magic Tank and the smell was very strong. I put it in SIX ziplock bags and still couldn't keep it in my car. BUT... I emailed customer service and "Steve" responded pretty quickly and said the seals might be broken. He sent new containers and the smell was almost nonexistent :) My review goes from ONE star to FOUR stars for that. I haven't used the product in an emergency yet, but will update this review if I do. Very happy with the response and the new containers.

this is a good product based on outside reviews. I carry it, but luckily havent used it. this review is to basically tell folks to buy it direct from the company for 10 bucks cheaper (gas & s/h). price is really extraordinarily high compared to same amount of gas, hence the 4 stars. I also carry fuel in rotopax containers, but the cost of the conainer plus gas is about equal to magic tank, on the other hand ill always be able to refill a rotopax. so weigh it out for your situation.
Gives me peace of mind.

My car has no fuel gauge, so I bought this about a year ago and keep it in my spare tire compartment. I haven't had to use it yet, but feel better knowing I have a backup should I run out of gas.
