Really not as good as it looksby C Long (3 out of 5 stars)

I have purchased Gerber products before that I quite enjoyed. The Gerber dime and shard are all great and durable and useful and I always have them in my backpack. This money clip is sub par at best. The clip itself will hold money and cards but frankly feels more like a belt clip that was branded as a money clip as an after thought. Any cards you slip in will get scratched by the clip as well. As far as the knife is concerned it comes pretty blunt which is annoying. Also the release mechanism will scratch the blade when you try to slip it in which is a major oversight on the design team's part. All of this would be forgiveable if this thing was like 10 dollars but it's not. Save your money look elsewhere. As for me I think I will keep it around to hold some cards I don't use often I guess. But I really would think long and hard about this purchase before you buy.

Love this little thing, no complaints here. Alot of complaints about scratching of the IDs or CC but i just wrap money around the cards and WALA!
Stylish and useful, with a very sharp knife.

I was really excited to get this in the mail. The packaging was very nice and sturdy. Once I took it out, it was instantly part of my daily use. The knife is very sharp; It cut through the padded envelope it came in like it was butter. It is bigger than I thought, and easier to grip than initially thought. It says that it can fit four bills or four cards, which is true. You have to force any more than four or five bills (pictured), and you gotta put one card at a time. I put about twenty bills in it, but the knife isn't easily assessable once its packed that much. I highly recommend it for any one that needs a small utility knife and a money clip.
Tremendous value

TL;DR:
This is the first Gerber piece I've purchased, and I'll definitely buy from them again.
PROS:
Small. Feels high-quality. Knife is easy to deploy (i.e., if you place it correctly in your pocket and practice, you could hand the clip to a thief while removing the knife relatively covertly if you so choose.) Easily fits 5 cards and more bills. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you just put your bills under your cards under the clip so it's easy to put them all in: plastic doesn't tear easily, paper does. It's tight enough that it would rip bills if you just try to jam them in, but that gives it the strength to keep everything secure, too. Also, I have no problem pulling the knife out when it's full. If you do, you're putting too much into it, and will probably bend the metal quickly and make the clip useless soon anyway.
CONS:
The composite edge of the clip had a few sharp points sticking out of the side. Easy to fix, though: Snap the knife out and cut them off.
NEUTRALS:
The metal on mine is more of a golden-copper-green color than the neon shown in the pics here. I dig it though; much more my style. Also, to the people who want to carry this through TSA: If you don't want to have it taken, don't take it with you. Finally: Nothing against Gerber, but you can get this for about 1/3 the price on Amazon versus their site--and it's a tremendous deal.
if you do not carry much, its great.

great product. do not buy if you carry more then 3 cards and 5 bills. it is made very well. it holds the bills and cards securely, but with too much in the clip ot will be hard to remove your cards and money. also if you put too much in it the knife will not come out.
Great concept, but has a very serious flaw

Pros: Looks cool, great concept, very sturdy
Cons: Knife cannot be removed if you use the money clip
I really wanted to like this money clip, but its main feature is completely flawed. I have been searching for a thin wallet/money clip that can hold 3-5 cards and some cash. I've tried a lot on Amazon, but haven't found one that worked. When I heard about this money clip, I thought it was a great concept and wanted to give it a try. I like to carry a few utility items with me every day, but having a knife in your pocket isn't always that convenient, so I thought this clip would be perfect.
The knife works fine with nothing in the clip. It can be easily inserted and removed. I put in 3 paper bills and about 4 cards into this clip to test out the knife, and because the retaining clip (holds the knife in place) has no room to move, the knife cannot be removed. This is a serious flaw. Unless you only have a couple of paper bills and just 1 or 2 cards, you will not be able to remove the knife. The only way I can see it working it is if I remove a few items first and then pull out the knife, but in emergency situations, that's completely out of the question. This money clip would work if there were a thin plate between the holding clip and the knife-retaining clip, but that would make this thicker overall.
Unfortunately, I will be returning this, because without the knife, it's just a bulky money clip.
A Fun/Useful Money Clip

This is a nice quality money clip. The knife is high quality and retains a fine edge. On that note, this is a novelty product. It is too heavy for me to use as an everyday money clip. Any knife is better than nothing, but not the most effective defense option. This knife, while high quality, would make a poor self-defense tool. It is hard to hold in a defensive manner. It would be difficult to use in a responsive offense to an attack. I enjoy this for what it is. Don't kid yourself that it will be an effective defense or deterrent and in an attack. My everyday carry pocket knife is easier to use and more functional as a knife for both utility and defense. Enjoy it for what it is. Don't expect more.
Great Product! Great Price!

Item arrived on time. Upon inspection I wasn't blown away. But for its price its totally worth every penny. Knife is sharp and looks well made. Money clip is really nice and hold a couple of cash and card well. Overall i would buy this product again and I would definetly recommend it to a friend.

Update:
On transit @Hongkong International Airport. I was stopped because my money clip rang the detectors like hell. It caused a little scene when police were called in to take pics and investigate me. They confiscated the clip and let me go. I havn't used the knife in months and forgot it was there. Just be mindful when traveling. That this is not allowed at all.
Love it.

Love it.. I always hated carrying a wallet. I carry a debit card, drivers license and some cash for emergencies - this works perfect. The comment that as the clip is more full you can't pull the knife out is very true, but I think that might be more feature than flaw. If you slide the money/cards out like half an inch then you can get the knife out. So to me that it is difficult to get the blade out if the clip is full is maybe a safety feature so the blade doesn't come out in your pocket? If I used the blade more than infrequently that aspect might annoy me but then if I needed a blade more often I'd carry a knife :) It is made of a good spring type of steel too.
It's cool

It's a cool design. Very low key, you won't know it's a knife till you pull it out. I wish it was a little bit bigger. The size of a credit card would be great I think. Right now it's about 75% the size of a card. Being a little bit bigger would both make it a better fit when you have cards or money and it would allow the ring to be bigger so it would fit more fingers and further up fingers. for me it doesn't fit more than halfway past the first knuckle on any finger.
