Love this! We used it at a party and ...by Pete (5 out of 5 stars)

Love this! We used it at a party and it was a hit. The only thing is the slab got warm quickly but it's probably because I had 20 people over! Just be quick with the overall setup and you should be good. The set is much nicer than I thought it would be. It came nicely packaged and their were no problems with actual item at all.
Marble Slab:
1. It's real Marble! It almost looks like a White Carrera.
2. Gets cold relatively quickly. In about an hour, it's ready to use for about a good 10 minutes or so.
Wood Piece:
1. Looks great and feels extremely durable!
Serving Utensils:
1. It seems like it's metal. Overall, pretty good.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this product.

Poor Quality-The was a gift for a friend-the marble trays was already broken when she opened/received it and the wood tray was broken too. It was past the return date, so my only option was to buy another to replace it. As I was carefully unpacking the marble tray, it broke while I was holding it. So now i'm stuck with a broken item.

Kids loved it!
Both the company and Amazon offered to replace right away!

I was looking forward to using this item but when it arrived the large marble piece was cracked in half. There was no padding, or any kind of wrapping around the marble at all when shipped so naturally the chances of it cracking are high. I have requested a replacement piece of marble, I will update review to see if I get one. I do like the item and wanted to use it for children's birthday parties or special occasion....I may try to see if I can find a replacement piece of marble. Right now my recommendation is to pass - it's too expensive to get a damaged item. If I saw it in a shop and knew I was getting it undamaged I would recommend it, as it is stylish and functional for what it is.
UPDATE: from 3 to 5 stars - I contacted Amazon to let them know the item arrived damaged. A replacement was sent out the same day, and while packaged the same way as the first item, the replacement arrived in perfect condition. I would like to add that the company also read my review and offered a replacement right away. I declined as Amazon had already done so, but you should know that they stand behind their products and want the customer to be happy and satisfied.
To celebrate the new arrival we had ice cream night. It was fun to have the grandkids mix their own ice cream, and mix it for us too! Naturally, the ice cream tasted so much better having mixed it themselves. I just put saran wrap on the bowls to save the toppings for next time. I don't want to use it every day. OK- we all do, but I can't afford the calories :)
A somewhat theatrical item that helps you mimic Coldstone...

I like this. I *really* like this. But I'm not in love. Why? Well....
First, make no mistake - this is *very* much a theatrical-type set, used to impress kids, guests, or whomever. The set just screams demonstration, from the ceramic dishes to the bamboo tray to the marble slab. Yep, this is NOT something you'd just casually use in the kitchen for yourself or to do up a dessert for your spouse. No, dinner parties, birthday parties, parties in general...that's the natural habitat of this item.
This isn't to say that it's an inferior product, in fact far from it. The tray is solid and weighty, with cutouts that precisely fit the dishes that are to go therein. It *looks* like business, and since appearance is the lion's share of presentation, you're already prepped for success out of the gate. Materials are quality, although the ice cream spades could use a bit more weight to them in my opinion. Still, it's a neat way to spice up dessert prep for an audience.
One may be nonplussed by the lack of any instructions in the package, though pretty much all you need to know is printed on the back of the box. Your main thing is to get that marble slab nice and cold. Instructions suggest a few hours, though in my opinion your best results come from deep freezing that slab at least overnight, 24 hours would be better. The slab did resist warming up for over an hour after I froze it longer, and you really do want that slab cold...if you have melted ice cream on it after mixing, then that can be kind of an issue. Anyway, scoop ice cream onto the slab, flatten it out, put whatever mixings you want in there, and stir it up with the two spades. That's pretty much it, and if you want inspiration then I suggest hitting your local Coldstone Creamery to watch their technique...and get ideas for mixings.
Now this all said, my major issue is, well, what I think this item is intended to do vs how it executes on that. I really really think this is a presentation/demonstration/theatrical thing. To me that implies a crowd. Well, the slab is really only good for one serving at a time...it's just too small to comfortably handle much more than that. This means that you're doing desserts one at a time, and that can be kind of a drag...especially if, like me, you kind of take your time with the mixing and thus the marble slab warms up before you're finished with all the desserts. I kind of wish the slab were larger, maybe a bit thicker (to really stay cold) at the least. The mixings dishes too are a little on the small side, again in context with a party setting. So at my house, I found myself hesitating to use this item in the very setting that I think it's intended to serve, namely a dinner party. Eight to ten desserts aren't much of an issue, but more than that and I think you'll find that you'll run into the limitations of the slab design.
Don't get me wrong - I really like using this. I think it's made well, a delight to look at, and easy to use once you get the hang of mixing ice cream with gummy worms. It's a good item that, unfortunately, I think is limited to making one dessert at a time, or maybe one and a half if you are clever. Overall though, I think it's a valuable addition to the kitchen and has opened up a new avenue for me to explore...fancy ice cream desserts.
