The biOrbAIR Terrarium is THE modern terrarium/vivarium, whether it's orchids, poison dart frogs, air plants, mosses and carnivorous plants or an insectarium the biOrbAIR replicates the conditions found under the tropical forest canopy and will provide them with the humidity, air circulation and lighting they need. You also get a 360 degree view of a world you've created and the pleasure of watching it develop and grow, it's like a window into another world. The biOrbAIR uses treated sterilized coir compost as the growth media to cultivate the plant roots. The coir compost is placed on top of a capillary mat that draws water up to the compost from a small water reservoir in the base. The capillary action prevents the plant roots from soaking and rotting. Natural daylight is not necessary as the lighting is arranged in a six LED array at the top of the sphere. This emits the perfect light output for encouraging natural growth and prevents plants bending towards a single light source. The light also works on an automatic 24 hour cycle, simulating sunrise, daylight, sunset and night time. To discourage stagnation and condensation within the biOrbAIR, a constantly running fan, with three speed options: low, medium and high, recycles the air through a replaceable carbon filter. A small amount of fresh air is regularly introduced as part of the circulation process. To maintain the humidity within the micro-climate, water is added using an ultrasonic mister mounted in the top water reservoir. This mister can be set to three different settings: automatic for tropical plant growth, low for a less humid environment and high for certain amphibian and invertebrate animal species. The terrarium is available in glossy white or grey.

I received a white biOrbAIR for Christmas and I absolutely love it. It is a really simple yet beautiful design. With set up limited only by your imagination, you really can create interesting scapes. Mine houses miniature orchids and they are all doing very well. I love the misting unit. After using all of the humidimist that came with mine, I started using RO/DI water and sometimes mix it with orchid ultra. I really can't say enough good things about this terrarium, I spend many hours a week looking into it. Gotta go now, the orchids are calling.

The price of this terrarium certainly gave me pause, but it truly is worth it. I have carnivorous plants, and species orchids in there. To say they are all thriving is an understatement. Just love it.

one of the most beautiful appliances i own! If you love gardening/ terrariums this is it! its a self contained ecosystem, with mister and LED lights that simulate sunlight.

pros: lets you get creative to your heart's content when planting, beautifully constructed, durable

cons: the fan is a bit noisy and can't be used in bed room,

I did not purchase mine on amazon, but it was new and has had two problems already within the first 8 days. The light stopped working on day 5 and the entire hood was replaced. 3 days after that and now the misting unit stopped. For the premium you pay (actually double the amazon price here) it should be built like a tank... it isn't. It is really awesome when it works, but it's really just been a massive (and expensive) headache.

There are apparently two versions of this unit. The newer one has a redesigned fan which is quieter. I can attest that while overall I believe the hood to be an overpriced piece of garbage, the fan actually worked and was mostly silent.
