Cute and novel.

The dome and materials seem to be of very high quality and it was not marred in anyway upon arrival. I assembled it and placed it into pond without any difficulty. I'm sure there are a number of ways to get the dome filled with water. The instructions show a method, I had my pond vacuum and used it without issue. (a wet dry shop vacuum would work perfectly). I now had a ball of water that appeared to be higher than the rest of the ponds surface.........cool and very different. NOW to the real stuff........ my fish were not curious about this item in their world. They did not care nor did the flock to swim up into it. NOT the company or the domes fault. I never took food and coaxed the fish up into it. I never came up with a device which would easily let me get floating food under the lip of the dome without getting myself wet. So without being taught the koi did not really "flock" or should I say "school" up to it. I did catch one of my larger koi sticking his head into it.........now that was pretty cool as he looked like Moby Dick the white whale due to the magnification of the curved dome and water. He appeared to be huge! It was very cool and almost made me work to train the fish..............alas I have not. So, when you make this purchase understand that there may be a bit of a learning/teaching component that comes with it. The floating dome will do what it is designed to do, right out of the box. What you hope it will do with your fish will require a bit of effort on your part.
I live in Northern California and due to the fires this season have had to deal with a lot of ash. This did cause a maintenance issue as the dome needed cleaning. Additionally I let the dome float around and it readily hosted algae on the inside of the dome. I had one "mechanical" issure............ on occasion with the pond level just right the dome would get sucked into a skimmer and would cut the water flow to one of my submersible pumps.

Bottom line this is a well made item. It will do what it says. No problems with any of that. If you are prepared to put forth the effort to "train" your fish........you will get some real amazing views of your fish with this item.

To the person that stated you need a three foot deep pool to fill and flip this, no you don't.

Put it in the pool right side up, stick a shop vac hose into the dome, suck out the air and there ya go.

My son & daught-in-law gave this to me for Father's Day. Excellent gift. It works great. Fish went right in it to get the food. Easy to use. It is a great addition to the pond.

We bought one for a gift for a special friend who has a very nice koi pond. You have to understand that this dome requires that the water be at least as deep as the diameter of the ring, otherwise, you're fighting physics of buoyancy, fluid dynamics, etc., just to try to get the thing turned over. What it would really benefit from having would be some sort of release valve on the top of the dome (it doesn't have to be obtrusive, just a small thumbscrew type) that could be opened so you could push the dome down and not fight the combined buoyancy of the styrofoam(TM) and air trapped in the bubble. There were no instructions included in the box we received, so online collaboration revealed that you were supposed to invert the dome like a bowl, push it under the water, and then while holding it under the surface, flip it over so the dome is now on top. The styrofoam ring is super buoyant, and even though it says it's easy to submerge it, it really was not, even with the dome full of water. There can't be any air space available between the inside edge of the ring and the surface of the pond water, either, or it's just going to flow out of the dome. We tried several times to flip it as quickly as we could, and just never could get it over fast enough. Even when we had it almost full of water, it still seemed to leak air between the plastic rim of the dome and the styrofoam ring (I know, if that's under water, then it won't leak air - but you need to reread the part where I said it doesn't go under easily!). We tried filling the pond as much as we could, but I wasn't able to stay long enough to find out if that worked, either. Nice design, nice idea, but has a few small improvements that really would make it better and wouldn't detract from the ability of the owner to view the fish.
