Asphalt beware

I read a fair few negative reviews before purchasing this product, and I wasn't surprised to realize that there is a bit of a learning curve with these balloons. First, the method for stopping the water from shooting out is a gel cap. Some people complained that they couldn't fill these up and leave them sitting for a day without the water leaking out, which is due to said gel cap breaking down. Another issue is that these balloons are more than a little sturdy, which means that they need to be filled a little more: I took out my 6 year old with one of these, and it continued to bounce across hot asphalt into the neighors yard. No, he wasn't hurt, thanks for your concern. Needless to say, you need to put a little more water in these things than you would a normal water balloon if you want them to pop. Otherwise, we had a blast, and I'll likely be purchasing these again.

They do work, but.....

They do work, but you still have to fill one at a time. As another reviewer wrote, there is a learning curve with these. Each balloon has a capsule inside, which when placed properly in the neck of the balloon prevents the water from escaping after you've filled it. Once you get the hang of it, you can get them done faster. It worked best for me by giving a gentle pull on the neck after each fill. Every so often, you'll have a failure (a tear, or the capsule will jam in the wrong place). We had a better experience with the ones that have 100 balloons, each at the end of a small straw, which all get filled all at once. Much faster, easier (dollar-for-dollar) cheaper. We will get a few of those next time instead.

The balloons were good, but the little gel cap that was inside ...

The balloons were good, but the little gel cap that was inside to keep from having to tie them would melt. Typically its a hot day when you are tossing the water balloons around, so filling and keeping the water cool as recommended didn't work. The positive is the gel capsule gave you more time to tie for those little hands learning how to tie the balloons. I personally for the price prefer the AS SEEN ON TV one(Walmart for 10 bucks over 100 balloons). They work great!

Who thought of these? only a genius! while the price may be high, the fact that you don't have to stand next to the faucet and tie the balloons is unbelievable. I am astounded and cant imagine going back to tie balloons again!

Also relatively thick balloons so do not always break easily.

ok product, but have a tendency to leak after being filled and stopper does not always set in neck of balloon properly. Do not squeeze or stopper is discharged and water comes out. Also relatively thick balloons so do not always break easily.

Can't fill in advance
by Jesse Baynard (2 out of 5 stars)

These balloons use a floating dis-solvable capsule that locks into the neck of the balloon to form a temporary water tight seal. The biggest problem with them is that they don't last long enough to prep them in advance. The package said that it would last 20 or 30 minutes, but from our hose during an early Florida summer they wouldn't last more than 5 minutes. Which basically means it will only work if you can fill and throw at the same time. This brings me to the second problem, the filler nozzle doesn't have a valve control. So if you don't have one on your spigot then it's near impossible to fill these up since you need the water to be off the put the balloons on the filler nozzle. Once you have filled the balloon the snap and seal usually works, and it is fairly ingenious, but the failure rate is higher than balloon bursts from tying errors. Overall, I'd only consider this if both sides had their own filling station and the water was reasonably cool.

I personally settled on the Kaos tie-not system. It's a bit of plastic attachment that makes tying a balloon a simple and rhythmic 3 step process (flip, slip and pull) and doesn't require any fine finger dexterity. You can get them to fit a hose or in a portable pump. We (3 people with three tie-nots) were able to fill up 500 balloons in under a half hour the night before, and they pretty much all survived for an epic battle the next afternoon. This would have been impossible had we used the Zorbz which we originally bought.

This product is awesome. It took a little longer than the stated time but I'm sure I will get better with practice. I regularly have several young kids at my house over the summer and we as a family have many water balloon battles. Which in the past as meant me held up in the garage for several hours secretly filling balloons for the surprise attack. But no more. I had all 100 balloons filled within 30 minutes and secretly staged around the backyard for the up coming battle of kids versus old people. Thank you for developing something that would let me participate in the fun rather than tirelessly working for everyone else's fun.

Have to use in a couple of hours or they leak
by Wine Junkie (2 out of 5 stars)

Yes, they fill up swell, but they only hold for about 10 hours. We were wanting to use them the next day for an event and they all leaked. The little "nubbin" inside the neck hurts if you use them right away. So...not a fan. Sorry
