HOW TO SIT ON THIS THING
by Ken (5 out of 5 stars)
December 7, 2016

First thing you need to know is THE PRODUCT PICTURES SHOW YOU THE WRONG WAY TO SIT ON THIS!! I added my own pictures to this review so you could see the difference (I would guess it is because whoever took the pictures for this listing didn't use this stool themselves and hadn't figured it out.)

You need to TUCK YOUR FEET UNDER YOU ON THE BASE DON'T PLANT THEM ON THE FLOOR!! AND POSITION YOUR BUTT OFF THE EDGE OF THE STOOL NOT IN THE CENTER. As soon as you do this you'll notice SEVEN things will happen: 1) there are grooves in the seat to accommodate your legs in that position so it is designed for that position, 2) YOUR SPINE WILL BE PERFECTLY STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN WITH A NATURAL CURVE IN IT. 3) This is the MOST STABLE position for this chair because the pole will stick STRAIGHT UP 5) This is the LEAST TIRING position for your spine and legs because there is no pressure on your legs and no rounding of your spine and 6) Your spine will flex naturally as you reach around you on your desk and it FEELS GOOD ON YOUR SPINE because it is providing gentle natural flexing in several directions and 7) YOUR CORE IS STRENGTHENING because you are FORCED TO HOLD YOURSELF UP STRAIGHT USING YOUR ABDOMINALS, NOT YOUR BACK MUSCLES.

If you sit in the position you see the product pictures, your spine rounds forward and you will tire and it will be hard on your back (like in the first picture I attached, you can see the hunchback effect clearly.) In the second picture you can see how naturally straight the kids backs look and how their shoulders are back and not hunched over.

I took this into my chiropractor's office and the girls at the front desk tried it and started fighting over it to see who got to sit on it!! Their spines looked much straighter sitting correctly on this stool than they did in their office chairs, and what a great advertisement for a chiropractor! They looked tremendously professional that way.

I found one for $70 second-hand, and was sold right away. Buying a second one now so I have one at home and one in the office.

Love it (Here's some troubleshooting info...)
by B. D. Watt (5 out of 5 stars)
January 6, 2017

Received my stool and started using it right away. Assembly was super easy (don't purchase the assembly option, it's not needed!). However, after a few hours the hydraulic started to lose pressure and it was unusable. I called the customer service number and they had an immediate suggestion to remove the seat and adjust the screws in the top that interact with the lift. Worked like a champ! It's easy to take off the seat cover - just use a flat-head screwdriver and pry between the cushion and the plastic base of the seat. Another perk is now that I know how to take the cover off, I can easily reupholster if I want :D.

Uncaged Ergonomics should include these troubleshooting instructions in their packaging! I should note that I received the new style chair with more cushion (as pictured in the red or blue stools)

Good for short breaks from standing
by C. Allemang (4 out of 5 stars)
March 30, 2015

I have been a standing desk user for over 1 year, and wanted backup for when my feet get tired. I use this a few times a day for 2-20 minutes.

I'm 5' 10 and bought this model for its higher height adjustment. I'm glad I did, because I usually have it at the highest position.

I like that I can move around on it - bend my knees to shift the pressure to different parts of my butt.

My standing desk is not adjustable, and when I sat, it was a hassle to get re-situated to work while sitting.

I can comfortably use this with my standing desk for at least a few minutes at a time to relieve my feet. It does not take long for me to get uncomfortable on this stool, but it still makes for a good break to standing.

I'm still 90% standing, and 10% using this, but I'm really glad I have this.

Good price, poor quality
by MikeinNC (1 out of 5 stars)
January 10, 2018

Great concept, nice price point, but poor quality. Was so excited to get this to use with a standing desk when I needed a break. Love the look, the concept, and the price. Unfortunately after just 3 months the seat cushion does not stay securely attached due to 6 flimsy plastic tabs that are supposed to snap it in place. Additionally there are 3 levers under the seat to allow hieight adjustment, and these frequently get loose and disconnected. It's a shame because for probably $3 more invested in better parts this would be a killer product. As is, I would strongly suggest looking for better quality products elsewhere. You will be very frustrated very fast.

A good concept but there are two problems you should be aware of
by David Taylor (2 out of 5 stars)
June 30, 2017

I really wanted to like this stool, but it wasn't easy. The concept is great; a little extra support when using a standing desk is very welcome and the "wobble" feature let me move arround to keep my muscles active and my circulation circulating. But the seat just didn't work for me. I could not use it in the intended manner; it is large and very rounded, and I always slipping toward the front edge of it, and that caused my pants to bunch up in just the wrong place, which was definitely not a welcome sensation. I decided to go back to using a saddle chair and said so in my request for a return authorization. The supplier immediately replied that they now made a saddle seat and swapped mine out at no charge, so kudos for excellent customer service. Unfortunately, their "saddle" seat isn't really a sadd;e shape, but a triangular variant of their circle shape. It was better than the mushroom but still infliced crotch cramp. So I resolved to send it back but faced another problem: once this thing has been assembled, it can't be taken apart again, so there's no way to send it back in the original packaging. I would have had to buy a large, strangely shapped box or make one up myself. Then I would have to pay for shipping, as the supplier would not cover that. Between the large box I'd have to get and the weighted base, shipping this thing would be expensive. I finally just took a saber saw to the thing and cut down the seat to make it thin like a saddle. It actually works pretty well now, but it doesn't have a cover any more and the foam padding is breaking up. I think it's a lost cause. Which is too bad; except for the seat, this is an excellent product.

To be fair, this product may well work just fine for you; many people seem to like it a lot. Just be aware that you may not find it comfortable, and returning it is very problematic.

Enjoying My Wobble Stool! (well not so much 18 months later...)
by JPS (3 out of 5 stars)
April 10, 2014

I was excited to finally get my Wobble chair. Here is my review:

Pros:
1. Compact and takes up little space.
2. Easy to adjust the height (the hydraulic lift post works great).
3. Easy to maneuver around... I like that you can slightly tilt it and change positions.
4. There was no problem with assembly, it took 5 minutes. A small Phillips screwdriver is the only tool needed.
5. I feel I am actively sitting, using my core and legs and encouraging good posture.
6. It doesn't Wobble, which is a good thing. It stays in place.

Cons:
1. Seat is not cushioned or firm enough resulting in soreness after a short while of sitting on it. If the cushion was little firmer and about 1" thicker it would not compress to a point that you feel the ridges around the cushion of the molded seat. I am 6' and weigh ~185 pounds. If you are lighter it may not be an issue. I placed 14" Dia. x 2" cushion on top of it, which helped a lot.

Other Comments:

I use this as my main chair for working at my desk, so I am on it for several hours at a time. It replaced using a large stability ball. The base is heavy, but that was expected for stability and I don't expect to carry it around.

Update (10/30/15):

After using this chair almost daily for 18 months, I am looking for something else. I really liked the concept because it takes up very little space, but the seat is just too uncomfortable for sitting on all day. I even switched out the seat for the more cushioned replacement I received free from the manufacturer several months after I originally purchased it. Several months after later, I layered on top another 12" diameter cushion (like for a bar stool), which helped for a while, but still not cushioned enough. I even placed a loose third cushion on top. I think it comes down to a combination of seat diameter being too small (add 4") and using a thicker higher density cushion, maybe even 4" thick. If you only using this stool for short sitting periods, it is fine, but for several hours it just gets uncomfortable. Other than the seat, I have not had any other issues with this stool. Downgraded from 4 to 3 stars.

Awesome .. but pricey
by GC (4 out of 5 stars)

I got this for my standing desk at home. This isn't a cheap purchase so there was some risk involved without being able to test it out first. As other people have noted, the seat is rather firm and not meant to be used for long periods of time. You'll notice after 20 or so minutes of use that your rear isn't as comfortable as you would like (it falls asleep). That's when you know it's time to stand up again. It can lean at sharp angles without sliding (I use it on a carpet). I found that using my existing foot rest is best while leaning on the stool. The foot rest is just one of those standard rests for under a desk. The angle of your feet match the angle of the lean into the stool (I would recommend getting one). What I like is that when I go to stand up the stool returns to upright position. When I want to lean I just reach back and tilt it in. No moving a stool around on wheels. This will always be in the same position if you don't move it once you have found the best orientation. I have no regrets spending what I did on it. Oh yeah, it took about 4 minutes to assemble.

Poorly designed fittings = dangerous stool
by CAMomof3 (1 out of 5 stars)
January 15, 2016

Horrible and dangerous. This thing literally just collapsed beneath me and sent me backwards to the floor. I received it yesterday and assembled it according to the instructions. However, I had my misgivings. The base is quite heavy, but the seat is attached via a VERY lightweight plastic piece and two tiny screws that hold it to a plastic flange. To move it safely you have to push it or bend over and lift the thing by the metal post attached to the heavy base. Not ideal, but doable. However, upon sitting on mine this morning, the plastic fittings in the seat basically failed, cracked, and down I went. I am 5'7" and weigh 135. And yes, my feet were flat on the floor as per the chair warnings. Not very pleased with my $200 purchase right now.

Broken after 9 month of use! Be aware only warrants 3 months of repairs
by Tiro (1 out of 5 stars)
August 28, 2019

I really liked this chair because it looks sturdy and is comfortable to sit on.

However the chairs base wheel leaked after 9 months of sporadic use.

The internal air-tube on which the chair resides leaked beyond being fixable and the chair in consequence now longer wobbles at all. I disassembled it and was surprised to see the plastic of the tube was of so low quality that it disintegrated. You will find new tubes on Amazon but when buying a chair i expect it to last for longer than a year.

I am 175 lbs and have not jumped up and down on it, and it is still broken...

Even more surprised was i after contacting the company to find out that they only provide 3 months of warranty - i sure do know why now because the product is below standard quality.

You can purchase replacement parts from them, but i rather junk it and make sure to buy never anything from them again. Ever.

Great LEANING stool!
by Jewels (5 out of 5 stars)
September 25, 2015

I wasn't sure about this stool at first. I have a bad back and needed to get a work station that allowed me to sit and stand, depending on what my back would tolerate. This stool seemed to work for that, as well as to help strengthen my core (which my PT said I needed.) I have had the stool for a few weeks now and I have to say it is awesome! You can easily adjust it for either a standing desk height or a normal sitting desk height. I originally had felt the poor circulation if I sat too long on the stool. What you need to know is this stool is NOT for sitting, its for leaning. The review that helped me was to understand just your gluteus maximus should be on the edge of the stool, not in the center. The base would be slanted (maybe 8-12" behind your rear). Then, no numbness. This allows you to also stand up in front of the stool without having to move it (so you can judge the proper distance.) Also, I can actually feel the soreness of my muscles on my sides as they are being 'worked' while balancing myself on the stool.
