I love the game... Butby Nicholas (5 out of 5 stars)

I love the game, and I ordered this because after playing it with my friend at his house I wanted my own copy.
But if this is what Amazon Warehouse calls "Used - Like New - Factory Sealed" then I'm not a happy camper.
The game box was destroyed, and looks like it got fed to a dog, and was not factory sealed. The game case looks like someone did jumping jacks on it, then fed it to their dog. The disc is so badly damaged that my Wii U can't read it. Just terrible!
Simple and easy to bring your ideas to life

It's always been to Nintendo's credit that their games can appeal to young, old, and in between. They're always made with one thing in mind: fun. And Super Mario Maker definitely delivers, but also offers players the chance to be part of the creative process. Making what is arguably the best use of the wii u's gamepad so far, it's so incredibly easy and intuitive to simply drag and drop all those classic bits of Mario levels from over the years into your own levels. If you've ever been turned off by more complex level creation tools that can seem daunting if you don't want to pour hours into learning them (LittleBigPlanet comes to mind), then you owe it to yourself to give this a try. I've never been one to want to jump in and create my own levels until this game.
And the fact that you can upload your creations for others to try and do the same for them (plus play a bunch of levels created by nintendo) is all part of the fun. You can only upload a course that you yourself have completed, so even though you may find some devilishly hard ones out there, you know they're not impossible. And it's delightful to see what people around the world come up with. You can choose visual styles of the original Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros U, and dozens of enemies and level components. Creativity and pure fun wrapped up in a nostalgic package. Must own for any self respecting Mario fan with even the smallest creative itch.
Great game - reason I ultimately bought a wii u!

As a Mario fan this truly is a fun game to make your own levels. This was the ultimate reason I ended up getting a wii u, as it satifed those early childhood (and even adult) desires of creating my own mario levels.
The options are great (hoping there might be future dlc to extend it). I also love being able to play other people's levels and seeing their creativity.
The only drawback is you can't seem to create your own multi player world - it would be so much fun to be able to create a game you can then play multiplayer on.
Also, I wish it wouldn't give u limits on how many enemies/etc you can put in a world!
Great product for kids, mario fans and those who like posting creative content to share with other m

I bought it for my nephew who just turned 6 yrs old and i even helped him get it setup and installed for him to play on my wii u system and he loves it, i think its a great game/tool for kids it shows them a little bit of photoshop like skills mixed with game programing or game map editing on top of letting u upload your creations for other to play and review and u can in turn download and play other players created levels, the controls are intuitive and the tutorial is very helpful, I know the Wii U is somewhat of a retired console but this game and the latest zelda game have infused a good boost of life in to the console, i have not played the nintendo gameboy 3DS version of mario maker nor do i plan on buying it, i got this game cause my nephew saw it on kids utube amd was watching various tutorials for the game and he caught mario maker fever and begged me to get it for him to play it when he visits, so its a great game/level creator with lots of features and promised continued content updates. Hope this info is helpful if u arenconsodering spending your hard earned pay on this title. Its definitely not for u if you are looking for a game to actually play and beat its a creative game editor that allows u to play your own created pevels and others from the internet community on the nintendo online network.
Not JUST for Level Building!

This game is the perfect mesh of several key elements for games that I love: user-generated content and ease of use. This game will hold a special place for those of you who love to create levels or just enjoy Mario games. I happen to like both.
Creating Your Own Level:
They have made a very user friendly WYSIWG (what you see is what you get) level editor for the game. It's as simply as drag, drop and test. Everything from enemies to jump platforms. Not all creation tools are available from the start, but the game unlocks them the more you create and they show you how to easily implement these different elements (new enemies, level backdrops, power ups, and Mario game style).
Playing User Created Levels:
They give you several options to play levels that others have created. You can pick from top rated levels, play Nintendo curated level sets in the traditional "get to the castle and save the princess" style set, type in level codes you found online, play levels similar to those you enjoyed, and pick trending levels among other ways. Even if you don't wish to create any levels yourself this is a great way to get some new (and unique) Mario experiences. All levels submitted have to be beaten before they can be submitted, keeping the available content beatable (though you will still find extreme ends of the difficulty spectrum available).

For years, people have been hacking ROMs of Mario games to make their own levels - and even their own entire games - heck, some have made full series of games based on the Mario series.
Now, Nintendo has given us (well, sold us, technically) the tools to do it with their blessing - on their own hardware. This is awesome.
You can now make your own Mario levels in not one, but 4 different styles. From the original Super Mario Bros. to the HD style of New Super Mario Bros. U - you can make levels spanning the 30 year history of the world's most famous plumber. And if you don't want to make your own levels, just jump online to the built-in "Course World" - and play a virtually unlimited number of user-made courses. You can even share your own levels there.
There is a lot to unlock and explore. 100+ costumes for Mario in the SMB style - new power-ups never before seen in a Mario game (I'm looking at you, Shellmets!) and more. You will not get bored. Many, many hours of game play here.
This game sold me a Wii U. I literally bought the console specifically for this game. And it was well worth it.
A lot of creative fun!

I was a little on the fence about buying this for my 9 year old son, and some geeky guy at Target told us it's not a great game because you don't necessarily "go through levels" on the game. My son tried it at a Vintage Stock game store with a system that was hooked up, and he loved it so I decided to buy it for him and I'm so glad I did!
This game is a little like Minecraft (which I love because I feel it's a game for being "creative" rather than vegging all day to or shooting people). It definitely challenges my son to be creative during his video game time. Also, I grew up playing the original of all of the Mario games, so it's very fun watching him play and creating his own Mario levels.
There are so many things you can create, they give you endless pieces, sounds, enemies and items. There is really no end to the different levels you can create. You are able to use the "look and characters" from all the older and the most recent Mario games...The original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World, and Super Mario Bros. U.
I really think if your kid likes Minecraft and the Mario games, they'll like this game too.
As fun as I hoped

Myself and my children love Nintendo so when this was announced we were all really excited. I got the chance to play the demo at the event and could not wait for the game to come out. The game comes with a really nice manual that gives you ideas of boards you can make and if you look closely you can see numbers like on the last page of the manual, these unlock little easter egg videos, cute behind the scene things if you are interested in that kind of thing. It takes you through a step by step instruction when you start the game. You only start off with a view things but each day you log in to play you unlock more. You can play the level you created and/or upload for others to play. You can upload most Amiibos into the game, I used a Charizard one and was able to have Mario change into it on the 8 bit version. The only thing I am iffy about with the game is that it is only a 1 player which can be a little frustrating when a few people want to play. Overall I am really excited and happy playing this game.
Childhood Dream Come True

I started playing Mario in 1985 and I never stopped. This game is every bit as fun as I had hoped it would be. A basic overview:
Pros
+ Easy to use
+ Lots of options to discover and figure out
+ It's FUN to design levels
+ Tight and responsive controls that make playing the levels a joy
Cons
- It is VERY difficult to find quality levels to actually *play* because it appears the average user wants to "play" levels that don't actually require you to play the game (for example, you just move to the right and then don't push another button and the mechanics of the stage will finish the level for you)
- Editing levels is a bit cumbersome. When designing a stage that has an upper and lower level (accessed via pipes), you cannot delete either page (although you can bar access to the second page by removing the pipe that leads to it). This only becomes an issue when you realize that your sub-level is better than the main level, but you can't swap them out.
- To search for levels, you cannot search by a user's name, you have to first type in the 16-digit code to one of their levels, and then "follow" their creations. It's unnecessarily tedious.
- The instruction manual is digital only, slow to load, and a bit frustrating to flip through. Fortunately, most things are quite intuitive.
- If you make a great level, it probably won't get much attention unless it's easy. It seems that the average user is a bit younger than I am and not overly talented at Mario platformers. I guess that's what happens when you reach my age.
The cons certainly do not outweigh the pros and I love the game. It is truly my childhood dream come true.

I have been playing Mario platform games since I was eight years old. When I heard about this game coming out, it sounded too good to be true. Design your own Mario Worlds? Yes, please!! Usually there is a lot of hype surrounding the release of Mario games but surprisingly, I did not hear anything or see advertisements for this game. I was intrigued by the concept of designing your own worlds but was concerned with the logistics of how it would all work and if it would be enjoyable. When we received the game, I was shocked at how fun this game was! It went WAY beyond exceeding my expectation.
My daughter and I played it for days and we would say things like, "this game is great but I wish we could add in Bowser, or shoot fire, ect". By a week of playing we realized that all of these additions are given to you as you unlock and play for a certain amount of time. We now have everything unlocked and honestly, this game makes me feel like a kid again. It is so much fun (and very easy) designing worlds and challenging family members. My daughters do not usually all sit around playing games together anymore (they range in age 3-17). With Super Mario Maker they do. My oldest daughter has Williams Syndrome and she loves this game. The older girls love designing worlds that my three year old can play and succeed at (a world full of coins). My husband and I have challenged each other and built almost impossible worlds to see who could beat who's world first. This game is one of the only games in a long time that we have sat down and enjoyed as a family. We have already logged in hours and hours playing. In addition to all the incredibly cool worlds you can make, you can take your worlds online for others to play. You can also play online worlds other people have posted. I love this game and would consider this one of my favorite games I have ever played. Every time my 11 year old has a sleep over, the girls all want to play this! Hands down best game purchase I have ever made!
