Easy to fly, really hard to break.
by M. Woodhams (5 out of 5 stars)

This thing is amazing and seriously fun to fly. I was really skeptical that something so small or inexpensive would actually fly. I actually laughed when I saw how small it was in person. I was imagining those cheap tiny helicopters that break the day after Christmas. This is not one of those... This thing is easy to fly (my first quadcopter) and indestructible. I literally crash it every single time I put it in the air and it's still running like a champ. No rotors have broken, after hundreds of times hitting curtains, walls, ceiling fans, wood floors etc. I have a 16 ft ceiling, so this thing has some momentum when it hits the ground. I have put a few cracks in the top shell, but it doesn't seem to care. I'll eventually fix them with some glue.

The instructions are unbelievably bad. Here's what you need to know. 1. Calibrate the quadcopter - put it on a actually level surface. Turn on controller and connect to quadcopter - keep pointing the left stick to lower left and simultaneously hold the right stick to upper left until the lights on the quadcopter flash rapidly for a second. 2. If you press straight in on the left (like a button) it will cycle from 1 beep, to 2, then 3 beeps. 1 is beginner, 2 medium, 3 advanced. the difference is how fast it changes direction. It banks hard on 3. That's it other than practice.

I bought a plastic cage to cover the rotors because I wanted it to be safe for my 3 year old son to watch. After seeing the rotors cut through sheets of paper and various houseplants like a cutting wheel, I decided it was not safe unguarded. The down side is that the extra weight of the guard cage is enough to make the quadcopter much less maneuverable and somewhat clumsy. The entertaining side effects are that with the cage it will stick to ceilings and walls on full throttle if you get too close. You can also try to land it in your hand or elsewhere without fear of getting cut.

The blades pull straight off with some effort for replacement etc. I took mine apart to check it out. It has a little LiPo battery that is unfortunately soldered to the board. I took the time to tuck the motor wires behind the housing when I put it back together, since several were exposed. Don't overtighten the screws. I put a small crack in the top shell by doing this. Doesn't affect the performance one bit, along with the other tiny cracks it's accumulated.

Flipping it it fun. You can also toss it in the air and hit full throttle and it will right itself. The battery only lasts a few minutes which is always a bummer when it runs out, but at least it charges just as fast.

I'm told you can upgrade from the controller that it comes with to something nicer. I like the stock controller fine and I have big hands.

My major complaint is that the charge cable does not fit well and you have to play with it to get it to light up and charge. Also, the trim function seems to have a mind of it's own. After I learned to calibrate, I don't use it much.

It flies exceptionally well outside for such a little RC. I was really surprised by that.

All in all, this was the most fun I have ever gotten out of such an inexpensive RC. I've purchased a few for gifts as a result.

The perfect quad to learn with!
by Amazon Customer (4 out of 5 stars)

Giving it 4 stars because my 1st quad had a circuit board issue after a month of flying 5-10 times daily.

Otherwise, it's the perfect inexpensive micro quad to learn how to fly.

The Seresroad Cx-10 has about 5 minutes flight time on 16 minutes of charging. Not bad! I returned another called the Hero because it had just over 2 min 30 sec flight time with 30 minutes charging.

No headless mode, but that's ok. For that, order the CC-10A micro quad.

Otherwise, if you're just beginning, I'd recommend the prop guard and some extra props. Some break, while others come off and get lost in grass. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have 20+ props on hand when you first start out. As you get better, you'll need less replacements.

The other issue with indoor flight: carpet. Specifically hair in the carpet. It wraps around the prop shaft and the quad will not fly straight or hover. To fix that problem, on a level surface, increase throttle on the remote until 3 props are spinning. The one that is stationary or barely moving likely has hair or other obstruction. Remove that prop, blow it out, and put the prop back on. Power everything back up and 99% sure the quad will fly correctly now.

but once you do this little quad is a boat-load of fun. It's very agile and very very quick

A little tricky to get the hang of, but once you do this little quad is a boat-load of fun. It's very agile and very very quick. I recently picked up a Hubsan X4, and while the X4 is more stable to fly, this CX10 is quicker and more nimble. If like me you are deciding between this and the X4, you won't be disappointed with the CX10. I do miss quick-changing the battery in the CX10 though. Other than that, great little machine.

Quirks: After a good solid hit into a wall for floor, I noticed the gyros would get way out of wack. It would just flip on the spot instead of try to fly. To reset, I had to turn it off, plug in the charger for a couple of seconds, and then it would be good to go. Inconvenient, but fixable.

A surprisingly powerful little thing...

Bought this and one other similar model for my litter brother and sister (for Christmas), and found myself playing with it more than them! Very fun to fly and learn, and I was flying like an expert in just a few days.

Important to note: I very strongly recommend getting the propeller guard with this. It helps keep a steady flight and prevents constantly having to replace and order more blades. Unless you are experienced with quad-copters, you WILL bump into walls/curtains/light fixtures/etc. and if there is no prop-guard, the device will go crashing down, damaging the propellers, and possibly the device itself.

Very fun introductory quad-copter. If you're looking to get into drones, definitely get one of these to practice and know what you're getting into.

I have flown this little guy into walls and ceilings, flipped and smacked. It takes a beating and keeps flying i expected it to last a day but its still running strong. Definitely gonna keep a few of these, everyone should practice with it before moving onto a bigger model.

awesome little chopper

Worked right away out of the box on a quick charge. Took a few minutes and a broken propeller to learn to fly it but then it was cake. Only holds a 3-4 minute charge but charges over usb in about 10 minutes. Flips and turns are a cool bonus for an inexpensive way to get into the quadcopter fun. Be sure to read the instructions on how to set the flying mode to 'easy' when your first learning. Only regret is that it requires a lot of tuning for drift but that's probably because of the small size and my lack of flying skills.

Really nice little toy

Really nice little toy. I got them for a group of my buddies for Christmas, they had a blast with them. They take about 15 minutes to charge for an 8-10 minute battery charge. I bought 3 of them, the blades on them were hit or miss, a couple of the drones had blades break after a single fall to the ground, others would fly into walls at high speed and everything would survive. They are pretty fun to play with once you learn how to fly them.

Fun little toy

A fun toy. I had a really hard time flying this thing but after reading the instructions closely to resync and calibrate it and adjusting trim and practicing a dozen times I got the hang of it and it's very durable considering how many times I've wrecked it badly. One thing to note is be careful of hair getting wrapped around the propellers but easy to take apart and fix.

Amazingly fast, maneuverable quad
by Scientia est Deus (5 out of 5 stars)

Top rated beginner training quad by various YouTube videos and comments in the RC Groups Mini Quadcopter forum. A second version has been released which is slightly better for beginners because it has what is called a "headless mode" and slower roll and yaw rates in beginner mode; that model is the Cheerson CX-10A. The suggested training sequence is CX-10A, then CX-10. Each quad and its USB charger cable will store neatly in an empty rectangular-style metal Altoids can!

Lots of fun, great value

Fun to play with, especially at the office. Very limited battery life which is to be expected with something so small. Remote is easy to use but it does take some practice to master flying this little guy. For $20, well worth the novelty of having a mini drone!
