Nice glasses... deceptive claims.
by Kevin P (3 out of 5 stars)

Very nice glasses. Small and easy to use. The only reason these did not get more stars is the INCREDIBLY misleading packaging. On the box is a message "FREE Replacement Glasses Forever" and on the case is a note "Activate your Free Replacement Glasses forever..." (see picture) unfortunately this is only an extension of the basic 90 day warrantee again defects as it specifically states:
"This Warranty does not apply: (a) to damage caused by use with another product; (b) to damage caused by accident, abuse or misuse, including, but not limited to, scratches and broken lenses; or (c) to defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to the normal aging of the Product."

Not much of a free replacement claim. Very misleading!!

Warranty

The little flange that grips to the nose broke. I thought, great, it has a lifetime warranty, so I will go online and order a replacement. I had registered my pair when I purchased them, so I should be able to get a replacement fairly quickly. The warranty web page has a link to file a warranty claim, but it just links back to the same page. There's a blurb at the top to call customer service for claims, but it goes to a voicemail indicating that someone with contact you in 5-7 days. It has been 13 days and I haven't heard back. I guess I will have to buy some other reading glasses until they decide to honor their warranty. The ThinOptics glasses are not worth the cheap materials, but the warranty made the price palatable; but apparently, the warranty also has little value.

Be realistic in your expectations with these glasses, they are complementary to "armed" glasses not
by Kiwi in KC (3 out of 5 stars)

You have to be realistic in your expectations with these glasses, they are complementary to "armed" glasses not replacements.

Pros;
1. These are so easy to take with you as the glasses and case are barely larger than a credit card and they are flexible.
2. Where armed glasses are impractical or inconvenient these can be the solution as long as they will stay on your nose.
3. They look stylish or at least they are innocuous.
4. So light there is no fatigue
5. No arms to cause irritation.
6. Their durability is a function of their extremely light weight. I have dropped mine many times and while they have developed scratches the glasses still function.
7. Very quick and easy to put them on and take them off.
8. No nose sliding and pushing back into place.

Cons;
1. While these are surprising in their tenacity they will fall off if you are moving around, make sudden head movements or do anything that causes your nose to wrinkle e.g. sneezing, coughing, laughing or yawning.
2. When they fall off there is not much warning.
3. I haven't mastered putting them on the way I want them the first time so I need to adjust them a few times.
4. The level of moisturizer or oil on your nose will affect the grip of the glasses so try giving your nose bridge a wipe with a tissue or paper towel to reduce that affect.

The most satisfying place I have used ThinOptics to replace armed glasses is when I am in bed reading or watching my tablet. They become invisible because there is no intrusion of any kind, no ear irritation from arms, no visible frame when I get them set right, no fatigue and they stay in place.

I am satisfied with these however it is important to understand they will not replace armed glasses.

Think twice...

Pkg. Arrived today, the sleeve containing the product clearly taped closed. Glasses were inside the sleeve but out of their thin carry case, and scratched in numerous places. Pkg advertises free replacements...fine, one more phone call to make then wait who knows how many days. Nope, not to be. The 844-484-4667 number on the package has a recording telling you they can't take your call at this time. Yes, I tried several times. Fooey on them! All those positive reviews are meaningless when you're the one who gets damaged merchandise and they don't answer their published number. Double fooey. Out $20 and some time and frustration. Shame on you thinoptics.

Good idea...poor manufacturing

I was a believer in these glasses, but I already have had 2 pairs break at the bridge after a short time and with minimal use.

Love the convenience - but not the scratches
by StitchyWoman (5 out of 5 stars)
July 27, 2015

These are well worth the price just for the convenience. I must have 10 pairs of reading glasses sitting around but often find myself without them, particularly in a restaurant. These stick to the back of my iPhone and are unnoticeable. I used different double sided stick tape than what was shipped with them and have had no issues at all with them coming loose. I bought a second pair for my hubby's android phone.

UPDATE: I've had these a little more than six months, so I wanted to revisit my review on these. I still love them! I love that when I forget my regular reading glasses, I still have these, as my phone is always with me. I have only one issue. Over time, they have gotten scratched up by being taken out of and placed into the plastic case they are stored in. It has started to affect how I see through them. The pair I bought for my husband also has the same type of scratches. The is the only drawback of having these. I have continually recommended these to people but have warned them about the scratching. If they come out with a case that is lined with felt or some other soft material, I would probably purchase another pair. I'm attaching a photo of how the scratches look.

Product not very durable. Warranty looks worthless (update, they did in fact agree to send replaceme
by P. Trep (4 out of 5 stars)
April 19, 2016

The product is NOT durable. I broke my first one within three months. The second one in about four months. I never abused them. The spring and metal part that attaches the two lenses breaks. Be very careful/gentle when putting back in the case. It's a great idea and I am still tempted to buy another but they wear out too fast. I only used them when I forgot my other glasses. They are perfect for when you need to look at your phone or a menu at a restaurant for example.

Also, as I just came back to Amazon to contemplate buying another one, I noticed they now advertise a "Lifetime Replacement Guarantee" which you can read more about here: [...]. That warranty is a joke. First, you must register with them within a limited time period. "Purchasers who purchase by calling ThinOPTICS, use a ThinOPTICS website, or purchased the glasses at a retail outlet and registered with ThinOPTICS within the specified period on the retail package, are covered by a Lifetime Replacement Guarantee that extends the 90 Day Warranty covering your glasses for as long as you own them."

Second, it doesn't actually cover anything! "This Warranty does not apply: (a) to damage caused by use with another product; (b) to damage caused by accident, abuse or misuse, including, but not limited to, scratches and broken lenses; or (c) to defects caused by normal wear and tear or otherwise due to the normal aging of the Product."

It seems like they are trying to pretend this product is durable by giving a lifetime warranty, but by the time you need the warranty, you find out it's worthless.

What they really should do is sell a dozen for a discount, then I could care less if they broke (assuming a fair price).
4/21/16: UPDATE. I upgraded my review from 2 stars to 4 because they did in fact agree to send me a replacement. Maybe the warranty wording should be changed. I will repeat this: I didn't expect these to last forever, and I know things wear out. I wish they would sell multiples at a discount. I WANT to pay for something that's worth paying for. These are a great idea. They are somewhat fragile, and that's fine if I can get them at a decent price.

and really loved the convenience of it and the ability of the ...
by Little Flower (2 out of 5 stars)
February 18, 2015

I purchased this item one month ago, and really loved the convenience of it and the ability of the glasses to fit snugly and stay put on the nose. Based on that alone I would rate the glasses as excellent.

However, the first shortcoming that I encountered was that if one is not careful when returning the glasses to the case the spring loaded nose pads get caught in the case (because the case is understandably very thin) and bend. Since I need glasses to read, it is difficult to determine if I am sliding the glasses into the case properly in order to avoid that eventuality. On a positive note, when bent in this manner the nose pads do easily bend back into place.

Alas, after only one month the glasses broke while in the case with the cell phone in my front pocket. I was not doing anything unusual, just walking. There is a metal connecting wire molded into the plastic that holds the two pieces of glass together at the nose bridge. The plastic on the right side broke off and the glasses essentially fell apart. They cannot be repaired. Therefore, I can only rate them at 2 stars when taking all factors into account, and would not recommend it. It is a conceptually nice idea, but one that is not-yet-ready-for-Amazon-Prime-Time.

Worst glasses I have bought!
by Kindle Customer (1 out of 5 stars)
September 11, 2017

First star for quality:
1- The nose "pads" feel more like a grater and are extremely uncomfortable. One must be very, very careful removing them from the nose because of the risk of scratching it.
2- As they are always on the back of the phone, last Sunday I put them on the golf cart while playing 18 holes. By the time we ended, the glasses were broken. Nobody touched them, just the minor vibrations of the cart forced one end of the nose bridge out of one of the glasses.
3- The vibration of the golf cart also take them out of their phone sleeve.
4- They scratch very easy. Seems like the plastic is low quality.
2nd-3rd star for warranty (not shown because I am rating the product):

When purchasing these glasses they offer a lifetime warranty. I just finished the process to order new ones and it was very easy. Let's see when I get them.
