Product Description
GoPro camera not included. The Phantom 2 Quadcopter v2.0 features a number of notable hardware updates over the previous Phantom 2 model from DJI, including more efficient motors, redesigned self-tightening props, a new transmitter (radio controller) with built-in battery and gimbal control dial, and other improvements. The Phantom 2 - for those who aren't familiar - is a quad-rotor UAV aircraft that can be great fun to fly standalone, but more than anything serves as a platform for capturing aerial shots using a GoPro HERO action camera (gimbal and camera available separately). It features a "Smart Battery" with integrated regulation circuitry that provides up to 25 minutes flying time; which is a substantive improvement over the original Phantom's still respectable 14 minutes.
Features
- Complete quad copter and remote transmitter, pre-tuned by the factory and ready in minutes! Just charge the included batteries, attach the propellers and you're flying.
- Fun flying by itself or even better with a GoPro to record the action. Tested with Hero2, Hero3/3+ and Hero4 models; camera and gimbal/mount sold separately. Note: Wi-Fi streaming from the GoPro camera is not possible.
- Built-in support for the Zenmuse H3-2D gimbal for extreme camera stability and silky smooth video recording (gimbal is optional but can be purchased bundled with the Phantom 2).
- Fly up to 28 minutes on a single charge using the included 5,200-mAh lithium polymer (LiPo) battery that's easily removable and contains intelligent circuitry and a charge-remaining indicator built-in.
- New self-tightening propellers (redesigned for V2.0) means extra security and no worrying about lost prop nuts when you remove the props for storage.

DJI is still the best drone.by Dennis W. Mau (5 out of 5 stars)

DJI is still the best drone. I did all the software updates and calibrated the IMU and calibrated the remote control. I installed prop-guards and I calibrated the compass for my flying field and I must say this is one impressive drone. With the GPS, barometric and attitude sensors it is amazing how stabile it flies. The Phantom 2 is much improved over the Phantom 1 with way longer battery life and easier battery handling with the switch on the battery and the battery tester on the battery. The USB charger for the remote and the battery gauge on the remote control are excellent. The remote is now much lighter with Lipo batteries also. The Phantom 2 comes all assembled also. I thought maybe the compass calibration would now be perhaps a one button process but you still have to twist the drone around as on the Phantom 1 but I notice even the newer DJI Mavic still retains the same compass calibration procedure. I always make sure I have green flashing lights for the GPS system and home point also. The drone did freak me out once already. I was flying pretty far away and I couldn't see the red battery low flashing lights and suddenly I lost control of it and I thought it was going to fly away. It slowly rose to 100 feet(which I have set higher so it gets over bigger trees) and started hovering back to home point where I launched it and slowly landed feet away from my starting point. It went into low battery RTH mode and worked AWESOME! There is a learning curve on this but the technology is getting amazing. My next one will have obstacle avoidance.(Phantom 4 or Mavic). This is the best drone for the money right now.
Don't listen to those horror stories - none of them read the instruction manual

You can scroll to the very bottom of this post to see my shortened up review, but I suggest reading this whole thing. I call it a drone/quadcopter/copter in the review, they are all basically the same thing and refer to the Phantom 2.
I should start out by saying this is not a toy. It is equipment. DJI in very clear writing says that this is for 18+, and I totally agree with them. Do not assume that you can just turn it on and fly it around. In order to not have a DJI Phantom horror story of your own, you must do a preflight check on the quadcopter every time you plan on flying it. Also, you must read and memorize the Phantom's user manual. In there, they describe what to do when your copter decides to "have a mind of its own" and fly away. All failsafes can be overridden with a simple knob sequence, but someone who didn't learn how to use the copter wouldn't know that. It is also important to understand the LED indicator's meaning. Maybe 2% of those horror stories were the Phantom's fault, but most were human error. The user manual PDF can be found/downloaded here: http://download.dji-innovations.com/downloads/phantom_2/en/PHANTOM2_User_Manual_v1.4_en.pdf
Now enough with the boring stuff, let me tell you how awesome this thing is. I have never ever flown anything before, so as you can imagine I was extremely worried that I would crash it in the first five minutes. The Phantom is actually pretty easy to fly! There is a very minimal learning curve - I suggest marking on the controller which knobs do what so in case of a panic attack, you can easily gain control. The quadcopter itself is quite sturdy, you shouldn't worry about the accidental bumps while flying. I highly suggest (with this model - NOT THE GIMBAL/GOPRO) to add prop guards. Adding the prop guards with the gimbal and go pro adds too much weight and will affect flying. But a bare Phantom, or a phantom with only a GoPro, you will be fine with the guards. The guards protect against bumps while also adding protection from anything that could interfere with one of the props and cause it to fail (which would cause the phantom to hurdle down to the ground and smash into a million pieces). The battery lasts 25~ minutes but my first flight (no camera attached) lasted about 30 minutes until Failsafe cut in and piloted my Phantom back to "home point." It takes a little over an hour to recharge. Just enough time for me to rig up my GoPro to it and have another go at it
The first time you fly your Phantom, make sure to do a calibration (instructions in manual). After it is calibrated, you will not need to recalibrate the Phantom unless you decide to fly it in a different area (such as on the beach then in the park a couple miles away). IF you are one of those who are very worried about the whole "mind of its own" and scared that the Phantom may harm itself or others since you no longer have control, you can always disable the Failsafe. But it is also important to stay close to the drone, don't fly it super high, and always have a good battery charge in the drone and controller. So, do your high and far away shots while you have a strong battery, and keep it relatively low to the ground and close to you once there has been about 20 minutes of flight time.
That is about it, the Phantom is a wonderful quadcopter for those looking to get the perfect shot or if you just want to fly it around. Please remember to update the software of your DRONE and CONTROLLER. The software can be found on DJI's website. Many of the scary bugs and kinks have been worked out in the latest update.
TL;DR: This drone is awesome! I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take the time and learn how to operate it safely. Don't be scared by all of the rules and requirements of the Phantom. It's clockwork once you get used to it.
Wow! Great drone! Great price! Love that i can upgrade!

Oh my gosh! Right now on amazon the original phantom is more than the phantom 2! Anyway, this is a great drone. It's the upgraded phantom 2 so it has everything the vision plus has(excluding fpv built in equipment), but has the upgraded controller, motors, compass, ect. I would definitely recommend. I also got the h3-3d which I also recommend. Don't waste your money on the cheap gimbal. I learned that the hard way. This vanilla phantom has turned into a quad copter more capable than the vision plus. I'm glad I got this vanilla so I can keep upgrading as transmitter and go pro's get better. Definitely get this vanilla model and upgrade it. It's a steal
One of the easiest drones to fly

Much easier to fly than home built multi rotors. This has the ability to hover in the air as if it's glued to the sky. The other reviews summarized this unit's features and capabilities. You'll need to use the gimbal for serious areal videography and most (if not all) gimbals were designed for the GoPro.
Remember, this multi rotor is intended for areal filming, not acrobatics, racing, or stunts.

Order this refurbished DJI Phantom 2 for my husbands Christmas present. I wish I had opened the box first. This box had 2 refurbished stickers on the box with 2 different numbers, looks like it had been refurbished twice. Someone had put a PLEASE CALL (PHONE NUMBER) IF FOUND, but worse was lots of missing parts. We also think we received the wrong remote control because it was not the same one that was pictured in the instructions that we downloaded from the intrernet, the manual that was in the box was in Chinese.
Great drone for all levels.

This is a great toy for anyone. Easy enough to use. Similar to remote control cars with some additional features added. Easy to pick up for anyone who has played a first person shooter game on xbox or playstation systems. Once you get used to the controls you're gonna want to take more risks, just remember these are powerful machines.
Very happy

Copter is SICK. my third drone, works great, takes a bit to lock on to GPS, but the thing flies great and I mounted my little go pro hero4 session and I get great footage without a gimble, though I would recommend one for serious cinematographers. For 475$ best drone around, not as much to offer as phantom 3 but pretty close, only other drone series I would consider is 3dr solo

Amazing quad copter for beginners! This quad copter is just awesome, the only problem I have is that when calibrating the GPS, it does take quite awhile to setup, sometimes it doesn't even work at all (but hey, maybe it's just because of where I live). Other than that, it's a great product and I would definitely recommend it for people who really want to start flying quads.
