Must be patient to get the right result
by Dadxs (5 out of 5 stars)
May 29, 2018

I followed an online demo (32 minutes long) which showed an individual replacing his screen. The product works fine but requires patience and a gentle touch to do it right. It took me about 2 hours to complete, stopping and starting the video as a proceeded but the iPhone 6 I fixed works fine now. PS: the interior screws that have to be removed from the broken screen and put back on the new screen are extremely small; much smaller than eyeglass screws.

you need some skills and a heat gun but after the third replacement, it's a piece of cake. Would be nice if it still had an instruction booklet in the kit. You can view it online however but the booklet was much easier to work with.

And its not like I totally screwed up the installation

would rather have my SHATTERED screen back, or pay just as much if not cheap to get my screen replaced. I received the screen with minor cosmetic defects but I didnt mind since all I really needed was a functional screen. I followed the directions step by step, and I now constantly have to restart my phone because: the screen doesnt respond and presses bottons without me even touching it. And its not like I totally screwed up the installation; I've been an Avionics Technician for military fighter aircraft for the past nine years and this task was a breeze to say the least.

1st time fixing a cracked screen and I would have to say it was intimidating and time consuming but well worth it. Product arrived early and all tools and parts were there. Watched the video and was able to follow along fairly well. Seems to be like brand new. Hope not to crack another phone but with 3 kids its more than likely that I'll be back! Lol thanks!

I pulled the phone back apart to check the connections were good, and they were
by Justin May (1 out of 5 stars)

I initially bought the more expensive replacement screen hoping for a more quality product. When I installed the screen it had a "light" spot in the middle of the screen and I just assumed that it would have some bugs or it would go away but it did not. I lived with it for a few months until yesterday when I dropped the phone for the first time, with a cover on it, and the screen went dead. It is not broke or damaged from the outside view as the phone fell on its back, but half of the screen is black and white lines with no response to touch. I pulled the phone back apart to check the connections were good, and they were. So I ordered a new one today from a cheaper source hoping that this one will last till the Iphone 7 comes out.

Buy a kit with spare parts.
by Rajin Cajun (4 out of 5 stars)

Buy one with spare parts... Like JingXiGuoJi. This item worked fine, but required transfer of the old camera and battery. It was way too difficult, and cheaper replacements with all parts are available. There was no false claim made by this seller, but I didn't really understand what to buy or not buy until after experiencing the repair. It was a successful repair, but could be easier with a different kit.

Like a Glove!!!

Worked great!! Fit and finish was on par as usual from iCracked and had no problems. As a bonus they have added a tempered glass screen protector on top of the replacement screen for added protection (they used to just had a plastic screen protector). Color and brightness was no different then the OEM apple screen. This is the 4th screen i have bought from iCracked and will continue to use them for the phones I fix.

*** Read for detailed review! *** I failed at a glass only replacement, this kit was a perfect alter
by Tessa (5 out of 5 stars)

Read my Review!! It may help you make some decisions.

Okay, FIRST: I am one of those people that never buy insurance for my phones. I constantly have a case on them and do take care.... BUT! For the first time ever I didn't have a case on the phone (literally for 1 day) and I dropped it getting out of my car - Screen was shattered and I called it "iPhone 6: Spider Man Edition". And so my quest began...

I work for Apple and without AppleCare, it would cost $109 to have them do a screen replacement. I don't have a nearby Apple Store, so my options were either send it in for repair (and go without my phone for a couple of days), take it to a 3rd party and potentially pay more for the repair, or purchase the tools to do it myself.

GLASS ONLY REPLACEMENT:

Since it was just shattered glass, I originally opted to buy just the glass replacement, UV glue, and tools. <<< BAD IDEA. I consider myself very tech savvy, but this process was such a waste of time AND money. You have to buy a new frame, new glass, tools, have a heat gun (or very hot hairdryer) and somewhat impossibly separate the shattered glass from the digitizer. Keep in mind, the digitizer is VERY fragile... i'm serious. I was thought "No way, people just thought it was hard, I could definitely do that" and I watched and followed several youtube videos on the best method of doing this, and ended up absolutely destroying my digitizer and never successfully separating the glass. <---- They are literally laminated together unlike the earlier iPhone 3,4,5 generations, so you have to get the phone to the IDEAL heat, hot enough to make the glue tacky but just under a temp that would burn your digitizer.
*** DO NOT ATTEMPT unless you have the tools and patience to do so. Seriously... I spent about $50 on new glass, heat gun, phone mold, UV glue, and tools, and still destroyed it. And so, I did some research and gave in a bought this kit. There are cheaper digitizer/glass combos on Amazon, but after wasting money trying to do just the glass, I ate the cost and bought this kit due to the great service and reviews that seemed to lack in the other cheaper options.

Packaging - Came neatly packaged with all the tools you need, instruction manual, recommended YouTube video(s), and a pre-paid mailing label to send them back your broken screen so they can recycle it properly. Glass+Digitizer+Screen Protector, baby screw drivers, spudger, heat tool, & adhesive.

Process - For those that aren't tech savvy, don't rush it! Take your time, keep your screws organized, and be gentle. If you're unfamiliar with the process, watch a few YouTube videos before diving in. I read some of the reviews for this product in which people said the screen started the separate from the iPhone Frame a few days/weeks later... This is probably due to too much force or the wrong tool while initially separating the screen from the main frame. The smallest dent/damage can cause the screen not to sit properly in place when you re-attach it and it's attached with little clips, don't go in thinking you can just yank the screen off...

The inside of the phone is not meant to be exposed or handled, so the tiniest bit of "too much" force can make those little wires malfunction. Just be gentle and follow the instructions.

Once I successfully swapped out the screen with a new one and reattached the wires, it's worth it to briefly turn the phone on before re-clipping the screen back into the frame.
1. Make sure the screen comes alive.
2. Test the touch screen
3. Test the home button and touch ID, I had to loosen one of the screws holding the plate to the home button because it was too tight and wouldn't "click".
4. Test your camera/ambient light sensor to make sure it's in place properly. Take a photo with the flash on, too.
5. Test your Mic and Speaker... You can kill two birds with one stone by making a audio note recording and playing it back.
---- > Once you've done that and everything is good to go, follow the instructions to re-clip the screen into the phone's frame taking care to insert the top of the screen first and work your way to the bottom. Complete by re-inserting those two tiny little screws at the bottom and put a case on your phone. : )

It's also worth mentioning that you are risking the warranty of your phone by doing this process yourself. The entire purpose of this kit is to provide you the tools and instructions for doing so. Does the screen work? Excellent! Is the process hard and/or time consuming? Maybe a little bit, but it's not rocket science. Anything else that doesn't work is probably due to user error or too much force being used somewhere. It appears that iCracked backs up the product they are providing to you, so I am not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from.

Final Wrap Up! - This kit costs the same ($109) as what Apple would charge to replace your screen. If you're looking for a cheap alternative, you could always try the glass only replacement but I do not recommend it with the level of difficulty it entails. Watch a few videos first and if you're uncomfortable with the screen swap process, you should probably just have Apple or a 3rd party do it for you. If you're up for a small challenge and learning a new skill, buy this kit... For the same price you get a Tempered Glass Screen Protector pre-installed, the convenience of not having to ship or drop off your phone, and a new skill builder.

Hopefully i've learned my lesson and won't need to, but I would absolutely buy this kit again : ) Good luck!
