So disappointed.by Vanessa Gonzalez (1 out of 5 stars)

First off let me say that I love the idea of a book style case. I love the vintage kind of worn look of the bookbook and I love that it gets better looking right away. The exterior does anyway . The inside of the case is a different story :( When I read the reviews that said that the inner case started to peal, I figured it's because those people didn't take care of it and since I would take care of it and I never planned on using the feature where I can remove the case from the "book", mine would be fine. I actually prefer the iPhone 4 type bookbook where there is no snap type case and the phone goes in a leather sleeve. However, after just one week, the case is now peeling. Not what I expected from a case of this price. It's been seven days and the case looks bad. I have only removed the inner case once when I first opened the box to see what it looked like! Very disappointed.
Great concept, poor product.
Great case, not without flaws

I had one of these Bookbook cases for my iPhone 4 and just got this one for my iPhone 6, and they are by far my favorite cases, but not without some issues.
Pros:
1) Beautifuly contructed, with very nice leather, and durable craftsmanship throughout. The leather is made to look slightly distressed along the spine as you can see in the pictures. Some have complained about this in their reviews, but they don't realize that the distressed look is deliberate. I think it looks great, and as you use the case you will undoubtedly cause some scratches and scuffs in the leather, which adds character and personality to your case.
2) The last generation I used (the 4) covered up the camera, so you had to take the phone out of the case to take a picture. This was a huge hassle, but they have now cut out space for the camera, so no issues there.
3) Combining your phone with your wallet is a fantastic idea, the two things you always keep on you, merged together.
4) The removable inner hard case is a great option to have if you know you will be in a situation where you don't want to risk exposing the leather case to damage.
Cons:
1) As others have noted, the plastic inner case has a smooth coating on it that feels great, but is anything but durable. I've had mine for two weeks and I've only removed the inner case once, had it in my back pocket while walking for ~10 minutes and I already notice a small area where the smooth coating is peeling off. It isn't a huge issue and doesn't seem to affect the functionality of the case, but it is disappointing that with very light use the removable case is already showing major signs of wear. This is the reason I'm only giving 4 stars instead of 5. If you pay a premium price, you should get a premium product, and I hope 12south addresses this issue.
4) The "wallet" portion of the case is a bit small. If it were made any bigger it would compromise the form factor of the case, so it's not much of a complaint, but it's worth noting. It only holds 4 cards and a few bills before it starts to bulge, so if you are the kind of person who carries all their cards and receipts with them and always has a full wallet, you will have to cut back quite a bit to make this case replace your wallet. In my experience, I realized that I only use a couple of cards regularly anyway, so it wasn't difficult to choose only a few to go in the Bookbook.
All in all this is a wonderful case, but make sure you understand the few faults it has before you buy it.
Great case, designed to show wear, just like a leather-bound book.

I bought a BookBook for my iphone 5 three years ago, and it served me very well. Yes, the leather shows signs of wear, but that's the style of this leather case. The leather is designed to show signs of "distress" over time, so yes it will get a "worn" look eventually. If you like that worn look (like an old leather bound book), then this is a great case for you. If you want a fashion statement...like a Prada or Gucci purse, then this is 100% the wrong iphone case for you. The Bookbook leather case is strong and durable. I've gotten my case wet several times, dropped it, and used it everyday for 3 years and it still holds the phone and credit cards securely. And yes, it looks worn/weathered.
Recently I upgraded to the new iphone 6s, and bought a brand new Bookbook case. I read some of the negative reviews on this case, and I don't agree with a lot of what the reviewers are saying. The case is real leather, and nothing is peeling like the other reviewers are complaining about. This a well constructed leather case that protects my phone and securly holds my credit cards and ID. I expect the leather on this case will show signs of wear over time... because that's what this kind of leather does when it's used everyday. Again, this is not a Coach, MK, Gucci or Prada leather product. Bookbook is designed to show signs of wear over time... like an old used leather bound book. >Hence the name, "Bookbook".
If you want a nice durable iphone case that also holds credit cards, and protects your iphone, then this IS a great product. If you want to impress people by making high fashion statements, then this is NOT the case for you.
Good but not great

I bought this case a month ago thinking the ability to remove the phone easily from the wallet would be useful...it definitely is. It's a very handy feature if you use a dock or take a lot of pictures. But as other reviews state for the price, the quality of the plastic shell case for the phone has a very poor quality coating. After only a month the coating is shredding quite a bit on the inner and outer edges. I like the case and might recommend it but be warned the quality doesn't seem like it may hold up all that well. This likely only applies to the inner case

So close to perfect.
First the bad--It is "hand-distressed" which is a cute idea, but it just looks like someone took a swipe at the spine with some rough sandpaper. The gold bumps on the spine are thereby sort of scraped off, which looks okay, reasonably like genuine wear. But then there're also these ugly scratches on mine in the two bottom sections of the spine. They do not look like genuine wear, just like it got scraped by some sandpaper. I think they should just quit the hand-distressed thing. The wear will happen naturally anyway, no need to scratch it up ahead of time.
I like everything else about this case. It holds a couple cards and a bill or two, looks like a beautiful little leather book, and the removable phone shell is good. A little finicky getting the phone with shell out, but it works. And the shell is very minimalist, doesn't add much bulk, looks sleek.
The other case I looked at getting, and really like the looks of, is the Pad & Quill Little Pocket Book, but the removable phone shell really tipped the balance in favor of this BookBook. I use my phone in a mount in the car as GPS, and would not like to have to completely remove the case to do that.
Removable phone holder soft touch coating is peeling...

I have owned the BookBook line of cases for my iPhone 4 and 5 as well as my iPad and MacBook Pro, I was very interested in the latest offering from TwelveSouth with the removable case for the iPhone 6 version. The quality of the case seemed great until the soft touch coating on the phone portion started to peel in numerous spots... Unfortunately I will be returning the case, I may give them another try in the future to see if they fixed the coating.
Message To Twelve South: Re-Design BookBook To Eliminate Useless 'Prop-Up' Feature & Use Better Qual

As other reviewers have experienced, my new Twelve South BookBook has worn terribly; within about three days, the design on the "spine" of my new Twelve South BookBook was already wearing off, and I am not hard on my things. Much worse is one of the new features of the new BookBook (I owned a previous-design BookBook) designed to allow the user to bend the back of the wallet case so that the user can prop up the phone like a tablet computer or a laptop computer. This feature: (1) is useless because the screen of an iPhone 6s is too small to prop up and use from a distance, and because the phone must be handheld to type and tap onto its screen; and (2) causes my phone to keep slipping out of the case. The side of the case which bends to enable the prop-up feature is also the side of the case which contains the clips that hold the phone to the case. During normal phone usage -- holding the case-with-phone up to my ear (I don't use the useless prop-up feature) -- that side of the case flexes, causing the clips on that side of the case to move and release the phone from my BookBook. So now I have to worry about my phone releasing out of the BookBook clips and dropping at any time -- without a case to protect it. I have ordered a replacement BookBook through Amazon's exchange program, hoping that it is just this particular unit which flexes too easily and keeps releasing my phone from the case, but it appears to be a design flaw to me. If that doesn't work, I will return the replacement Twelve South BookBook and buy something else. MESSAGE TO TWELVE SOUTH, echoing the comments of other reviewers: re-design the BookBook to (1) get rid of the useless prop-up feature which causes the BookBook to fail as protection -- its purpose, and (2) use a better quality subcontractor to manufacture the case better so that it doesn't wear so terribly -- for sixty bucks, the case should be of better quality.
Beautiful but falls apart quickly

I LOVE the book look - but the spine artwork comes off within the first month or so. The plastic case of the phone itself peels very quickly and the entire thing starts to fray within a month or two. Once it reaches that stage, it maintains fairly well and doesn't deteriorate further until the plastic case starts to crack. I kept mine for two years and the second one that I got - the company sent me a second one after I complained - lasted as long. Had I been more upset about spine artwork not lasting and the case peeling and fraying, I would've given this only 1 star.
The case looks terrible with less than a month of use

I will be returning my case! At this price Im holding this case to very high standards. The case looks terrible with less than a month of use. It looks really worn out and the spine of the case is turning white. The contrast of the white spine and dark leather cover just looks plain awful. The leather on the inside also gets very worn and stained and doesn't look good at all. The plastic case broke off in one of the corners as well. The iphone 5 case seemed to be a lot better quality for some reason. For the price its a huge disappointment.
Keep on looking for something better

The first one I had lasted about a year before the leather started coming apart, considering I'm not very gentle with it I gave it a pass. The second one I ordered to replace it changed my mind. The soft touch on the plastic wore off almost immediately just like the first one and this time around one of the corners of the plastic has cracked as well. In addition, my cards now fly out at random as the fit isn't as tight as it needs to be to hold them in. Definitely not worth the money.
