Nothing like getting up on a freezing morningby robyn burdett (5 out of 5 stars)

WOW! Nothing like getting up on a freezing morning, pushing a button the panel, stepping back, water shoots out of all the heads until the right temp is ready and then it switches to my preferences for my shower. LOVE this panel. Having fun learning about the other options
I love the control this offers

I had a plumber install this and it works perfect. Great control of what is on (we have six different shower heads in play). The temperature control is really nice too. This is far easier to use than I expected based on some of the other reviews.

It's a good idea. The interface is pretty and I like that it's all electronic. But the software is buggy and poorly designed.
I waited until the latest firmware came out because it would have been pointless reviewing the original firmware. The latest firmware at least fixes the clock (which was always wrong and could not be set correctly).
I'll list some of the better features and then what needs to be fixed about them
1. You can set 6 different users. I have a rain shower, 3 side jets, and a handheld shower. So my son can just press a button and the rain shower comes on and the water temp is set at 101. For me, I press another button and I have the rain shower, 3 jets, and 95 degrees. With 6 different configurations, it's great to be able to set it and forget it, call it up as needed.
What is bad about this: well, sometimes you press a button and a different configuration is triggered. How in the world is that possible, you say? Darned if I know. Once out of every 10, it will churn and nothing will happen. So you have to press it again. But the design is stupid: If I press one of the user buttons that I want, why do I have to also press "start"? what else would I want? a bagel? If you're going to make me press 2 buttons, make the first one do something like show me what this user button I selected does (i.e. list what is going to come on and what the temp is going to be). THEN, a second press makes sense since maybe I change my mind because that's not what I want (or a guest would not have to memorize what each button is). Just a bad design.
2. I love being able to tell it what temperature I want and get it.
Of course, that's if it doesn't pick a different user by mistake and I get the wrong temperature. This bug MAY have been fixed with the latest firmware. My son says it happened to him once since then, but it has not happened to me and he may have been mistaken.
3. It can play music through BT with the speaker system and amplifier.
My amplifier has stopped working. I've rebooted it a few times but to no avail. I will try customer service but their hours are only during the workday. You know, I have to work to afford this product, so it's been a while without music for me.
4. It is wireless to the internet.
The instructions don't tell you how to connect it, though. Not a problem for me since my bathroom is right under my router so I just ran a network cable up the wall. If you can connect with a cable, I urge you to do that. I can only imagine what problems you will have if you try to connect through wi-fi only.
5. Another design issue: I'm in the shower and I'm done. All I have to do is press stop, right? no. I have to press stop and then "ok". Now, if I have the shower and the music on (I wish!), it makes sense that the software needs to know which one (or both) that I want to stop. But if it's only the shower that is on, what do you think I want to stop? Again, a software designer with zero common sense and too lazy to write a simple extra couple of lines of code to say "if only 1 thing is on, chances are that's what the user wants to stop when he presses the stop button".
6. Response is too slow. I should not press a button and have to wait 5 seconds for the activity to start.
7. Once the shower is on, the display does not show the clock. That is terrible.
8. The auto purge is a good idea but the way it's executed is just about the worst way possible. The idea is to purge the cold water so you get to the warm water. That works fine for the shower rain head; all I have to do is not stand under it. But how do I avoid the jets from purging? When I first bought the thing and saw that you can set it to auto purge, I assumed it would trickle the water down until all the cold water is gone. THAT would make sense. But since the jets are made to cover the entire shower, auto purge is about the worst thing you could want. I guess you can turn it on, leave the shower, and then come back. Um, isn't that what everyone in the world does to get to the warm water? So what was the plan with the auto purge? So now I get around it by auto purging the water from the shower head and then turning on the jets. You get a half second-worth of cold water from the jets and then you're good. Great idea to give us auto purge but terrible execution.
These are all the things I can think of right now. I'm sure there are more. If one comes to mind, I'll come back and add it. But Kohler needs to step up their game big time with this product. They need a major upgrade to the software if they want this product to succeed. I'm not sorry I bought it, but I'm disappointed in its performance.
If you enjoy wondering what the next software glitch will be - this is your shower.

--Update on 9/27/15. The system took an update from Kohler around 9/22/15. I honestly wonder if they have any kind of testing process at all. Auto-purge (their word for preheating all of the jets) works only after a fresh reboot of the system. Spa functio

Kohler makes fantastic products but they are not quite there when it comes to tech.
The screen is not very responsive. So if you're used to iPhones & iPads (as I am) prepare to work a lot harder for your inputs to register.
A huge improvement would be making the Power, Temp Lower and Temp Raise buttons - hard buttons. That would make the system much easier to control. Beyond the responsive issue, the user interface itself is not terrible but isn't as intuitive as it should be (for a shower)!
I am 29 so I can handle a learning curve but for my 68-year-old mother & father, it can be intimidating and frustrating.
Finally, the responsiveness of the 6 port valve is terrible. (I'm still trying to troubleshoot this) I think something may be wrong with the system because it takes ~20 seconds for commands to register with the digital valve.
One last thing- the Kohler amplifier along with the music controlling functions on this unit is a total waste of time & money. I sent the amp back after using the controls once, they are terrible. I kept the tile speakers and used a different amp. I can't control from the DTV unit anymore but at least it works..
The whole system is a huge investment and it cannot be easily switched to traditional controls when you decide that you don't like it, so be very careful when deciding you want to install this thing. I would recommend waiting until they polish out the bugs

Simply amazing system of products! However, I did all the shower design, construction, and installation myself. It was our evenings and weekends for two years of design and a year-long period of construction. The construction would have been done in six months if Kohler had delivered on their original projected release of the DTV+ product and delivery estimates for the items when I ordered them. Our DTV+ interface controls the overhead chromotherapy lights and rainhead, steam, two shower heads, three body sprays, a hand shower, and music. We also installed a Veil wall-hung toilet with the bidet seat. The entire bathroom is Kohler because I couldn't find fixtures and features on par with their design and quality. Kohler's installation instructions were adequate with some exceptions where the dimensions were not accurate for the assembly and mounting of a few things - a few minor modifications to my design and everything fits and works together well. The DTV series is a complex but impressive product-set. My persistence and my wife's patience turns out to be well worth the results. I'm still waiting for the product release of the light-bridge to control the room's lights with the DTV+ interface. Each month I call Kohler and with each call there is an additional delay or just no idea of when that final component will be ready for release. I've also noted the software and firmware of the DTV+ components are all version 0.x. There are a few bugs in the software like being unable to set the system to the Eastern Time zone. Every morning the system time is an hour off so I adjust the time as part of my morning shower routine. I'm told a software update is due in about a month and will automatically download to the system when it is released.
Does Not Work

I installed this electronic device about one year ago and I have had it replaced twice. Both times I was without my shower for over two weeks. It is does not work and the web software to configure the unit appears to be designed by a kindergartner. Only plus is a five year warranty if you don't mind not taking a shore every few months for two weeks at a time. Hopefully they can fix it as I now have no other options to turn on my shower. I hope you all have better luck.

This system is too temperamental. It dysfucntions more than it works. Customer service is also of no help whatsoever. I have been troubleshooting every error by myself. Next step will be to pull the whole system and toss it in the trash,
Beware - This is still in Beta Testing it seems

I purchased this unit and have been trying to get it installed along with the 6 way electronic port valve. What Kohler won't tell you is that only a few of these have been installed. (mainly in the northeast) I have contacted many licensed plumbers and electricians and they don't know how to install the entire system. It seems like it would be a great system, but Kohler needs to step and assist in helping the units be installed until more have been put in service.
Kohler has not been helpful in assisting us with support. We are going on 3 weeks for trying to install and tile is still on hold!
