Product Description

UB+ Eupho is a revolutionary Bluetooth speaker that produces realistic sound with all the nuances and details, just as if a live performance is playing right in front of you. Weighing only 120 grams (4.2 ounces) with a diameter of 53mm (2 inches) and height of 76mm (2.9 inches), UB+ Eupho's sleek, compact size makes it a highly portable device to bring wherever you go. The audio quality is not sacrificed despite its compact size, thereby solving the age-old dilemma between heavy-body speakers with superior sound and small speakers emitting inferior tunes. This is achieved through the patented ORCHAS technology, which allows UB+ Eupho to have full-range point source sound and minimal external vibration, paving for highly efficient bass reproduction and the ability to have enhanced sound with personalised casings. As a modular speaker itself, UB+ Eupho can be used not only on its own as a portable Bluetooth speaker but be fitted into other different accessories such as UB+ Eupho Stereo and UB+ Eupho Brave. This transforms UB+ Eupho into an entertainment speaker system for work desks and the likes of television consoles.

Very good affordable bluetooth speaker.

I never heard of this company and I personally hate buying anything that hasn't been reviewed yet but I really liked the design of this speaker. I did a google search and found some reviews and since they all liked it I decided to give it a try. It's an awesome little thing! I have a $200+ bluetooth speaker and the sound on this thing rivals it. The only reason I wanted another speaker was because my daughter keeps taking mine so one of the most important things had to be good bass. With the included sleeve it produced impressive results. My daughter is very happy with this and I'm happy because I got my other speaker back. I didn't tell her yet that you can add additional speakers to this. Maybe at Christmas time I'll tell her and get her another one. I can't comment on the ease of connectivity or anything like that other than to say she didn't ask me to help with it and didn't complain about it. She had it playing within minutes of getting it in the mail so it couldn't be too hard. She also had it fairly loud and I didn't notice any distortion. I would definitely recommend this speaker.

I am loving my speaker. I use it with my computer, phone and tablet. I am so glad that I purchased this item. The sound is great and it is so compact. I plan on traveling with it this summer. Thank you TGI technology for a product well made.

Good speakers, especially when two are put together.

I was sent two of these to review...don't get all tinfoil hat on me. For some reason some people think that someone like me rates products highly because I receive them. Well, I already have 15 speakers I don't need anymore. I'm not doing this for the product. I do this because I enjoy writing reviews. Strange eh? Whatever, let's proceed :)

As I was saying before that rant. . . I was given two of these speakers. Those two became buddies real quick, yes buddies. How do I know? BECAUSE IT SAYS IT. In fact these buddies team up to deliver you, the listener, stereo sound. How could you dislike a pair of patrons dedicated to serving you?

Here's a few things that could make them better:
1) More color options. The black/orange is a tad Halloweenish.
2) Nicer Expansion Casing - There is no denying that the casing is immensely beneficial, however it's little more than a plastic tube. Dressing it up a bit wouldn't hurt.

Here's what I like:

Aux input option - Makes it easier to play multiple devices (think parties)

Buddy function - Out of 20+ speakers this is the first which has this option. I love this option and wish all speakers had this. If you didn't catch it earlier, two of these speakers can be played together.

Sound - Crisp clear and loud when you want it.

Battery life - So far so good.

All of the above sums up to a 4 star product. At under $50 one speaker delivers good true sound and two delivers a truly immersive experience. I'd like to see a discount on purchasing a pair of speakers.

If you're new to Bluetooth speakers:
1) You can pair to any bluetooth enabled device such as a phone or a tablet.
2) This one has the option to plug in directly (for non BT devices or if you simply prefer cables).
3) The range on these are pretty good. I walked in and out of my room with no signal cutoff.

I will be sure to update if anything changes but please feel free to ask questions below.

Thank you for reading!

Interesting technology and very very good sound quality.
by a long way from home (4 out of 5 stars)

It's the brave new world of paired speakers. Stereo, go figure, an old concept brought forth into the bluetooth digital age. I was sent two speakers with expansion casing. What is expansion casing you ask? Good question.... somehow when you put the speaker into the expansion casing it improves the sound considerably. For me this begs the question of why anyone would use the speaker WITHOUT the expansion casing and if no one would do that why then wasn't the expansion casing just built into the design? I am sure there is a reason but I just don't know what it could be.

Anyway, as I was saying, I was sent two of these to review. The company asked me to use a discount coupon to purchase one black one and one gray one. Presumably if you are purchasing two you would have the good sense to purchase two of the same color unless you like the funkiness of different colors. The sound that comes out of one of these speakers is, to my ear, pretty darn good. Very crisp and clean without harsh or tinny edges. Playing it at all volumes and with various genres of music it was consistently good. Put it in the expansion casing and it was even better. As I said, I can't think of any reason NOT to use the expansion casing and, in fact I think its a bit curious that it wasn't built in from the start.

Okay, so the speakers are just that good. Gang them together and you have a pretty good stereo system. I contacted the company about ganging them and they wrote back that they had joined 50 together. I can imagine that THAT must have sounded amazing.

These are fun speakers. I love that they have a name and I love the name "eupho" It just kind of makes me smile. The speaker design is not to my taste though with the black ones being black and orange and the gray ones being gray and orange. Just not color combos I like all that much. But that's personal taste and certainly not a reason to knock the speaker.

So why four stars instead of five? Certainly for sound quality these earn five stars and if these were priced closer to budget range I would be giving them five stars. But when you think about the price of two of them being almost a hundred dollars they move well past the budget range and I have somewhat higher expectations. Still, four stars to my mind is still very very good and I think anyone would be happy with this very portable stereo experience. But with the fairly new TWS (true wireless stereo) technology I think we are going to see more and more speakers that can be ganged for a stereo experience via bluetooth so there is no wire limiting the distance they are spread apart.

BOTTOM LINE: I really like this speaker and will likely use it somewhere in the house. Usually with the speakers I am sent to review I give them away after the review is finished. A few that really strike my fancy end up living here with us. I think this will be one that stays. I can definitely recommend this

Surprisingly EXCELLENT Sound, USB Audio Support!! Stereo With A Pair, Ganged Party Mode, Compact
by Stephanie Sullivan (5 out of 5 stars)
September 24, 2015

The UB+ speaker system thoroughly exceeded my expectations. I've used a lot of recent Bluetooth speakers and these UB+ speakers answer shortcomings I've seen in those other speakers. Most important of all, the sound is EXCELLENT for such a compact speaker. That alone makes these worth getting.

But wait, there's more... This is the first Bluetooth speaker I've tried recently that also support USB digital audio in. That's a BIG plus for me.

The UB+ speaker comes in black or light grey color. I got one of each. Why more than one? Because they can be ganged together to provide stereo with real separation and that's something I care about: good stereo is the difference between listening to music and experiencing it spatially. In addition to stereo many of the UB+ speakers can be ganged together using the included splitter adapter for great sound with enough volume for a party. Very thoughtful design.

The UB+ Speakers are not cheaply made and feel solidly made to last. It appears to me a lot of thought went into their design. More part of a thought-out system than just a speaker.

The package I got includes the ESSENTIAL Expansion Casing accessory. The Expansion casing is another example of outstanding design. When not being used it fits over the top of the speaker as a protective cover. It fits on the bottom when being used.

This speaker sounds pretty good without this bass enhancing resonator chamber but becomes excellent with it. It really adds depth to the sound and the rubber ring on the base helps keep it from vibrating distractingly with the surface it is sitting on.

The pairing and Bluetooth functions work predictably and very much like any other Bluetooth speaker or headset I've used in the last year. There are the usual power/multifunction button, volume up/down and skip forward/back multifunction buttons. There is a stereo in jack and "BuddyStereo" jack for connecting two for stereo and using the included splitter ganging potentially many together for bigger sound. Very cool!

All Bluetooth speakers have some lag. This is most noticeable with Video sound. Some speakers have a very long delay (approaching 1 second!) making them useless for Video sound. The UB+ speakers' delay is just noticeable - I'd guess under 1/5th of a second. Quite usable. I still prefer analog or USB audio for this purpose which has no delay I could detect.

There is a speakerphone function which I only tried once with my iPhone 6. Like almost every speakerphone capable Bluetooth unit the incoming audio is quite good. Unlike most of the others which had muddy sounding outgoing audio, the outgoing on the UB+ speaker was almost as good as the built-in iPhone 6 microphone. While I don't expect this to be a regular usage mode, it's nice.

The included analog cable is a 4 ring 3.5mm audio cable, not the usual 3 ring used by PC's. The extra ring integrates the microphone into the single connector. If you want to use analog audio with a PC you might want to get an adapter/splitter for separate mic/speaker jacks. The cable is perfect as is for BuddyStereo or ganging multiple UB+ speakers.

I ended up using my UB+ speakers with Expansion casing for my desktop computer. I'm using USB from my computer to one of the speakers for both audio and power. The second is connected via the BuddyStereo cable and is getting power from an available charger. I don't want to worry about charging and that's why I have them both plugged into USB.

The battery is just fine. When using them away from my desk I've run them for HOURS and never ran out the battery.

In conclusion I have to say I'm very impressed by the UB+ speaker. It's a big step above other speakers I've tried at similar prices. It's easy to get lost in the plethora of features but the bottom line to me is how it produces excellent stereo sound and adds the rarely seen (in Bluetooth speakers) USB digital input ability.

Smaller, better sounding and flexible connectivity. Gotta be 5 stars. If you want compact mobile speakers I think you will probably do well with these from UB+.

I was provided a sample to use to be able to write an honest review.

Small Speaker, Full Natural Sound, Impressed!
by Chester Tan (5 out of 5 stars)
August 19, 2015

UB+ Eupho is powered by a patented technology called ORCHAS. In simple terms, the technology enables Eupho to have:
- Full range point source sound
- Minimal external vibration
- Highly efficient bass reproduction
- Enhanced sound with personalised casings

If you have been a critical audio listener, you should know that there are trade-offs between full sound and speaker size. It is impossible for a small speaker to deliver full sound comparable to larger speakers. It is like expecting a small fan to produce the same wind power as a large fan. What's more, Eupho speakers are upward facing and not front-facing, further affecting the audio impact to the listener.

In consideration of the size and design, the Eupho delivers impressive audio output. Listening to the Eupho at about 50cm away, it delivers relatively full, warm tones with subtle treble clarity, while the bass is audible though not particularly impactful. Classical tracks are delivered with good timbre detail and sufficient instrument clarity. Even at quiet passages, the instruments are distinctly audible. Unlike most other mini speakers I tried, Eupho is tuned with non-exaggerated treble tone, which I prefer. If you are too used to the often sharp-treble qualities of other small speakers, the Eupho might come across as slightly muffled.

When the optional expansion casing is inserted, the vent below the Eupho is opened up to allow air to pump into the casing. With this larger chamber, the bass response is improved with more distinct audible bass notes, and the mid-tones turn out less boomy and overpowering. Playing pop or jazz music will deliver that real bass tone that is often lacking in such small speakers.

The magic happens when you link a second Eupho via the BuddyStereo. You get a broader omnipresent audio, and the musical details are distributed across 2 speakers. In this setup, the Eupho performs at loud volumes with better confidence and less restricted.

I am impressed that even at maximum volume, the Eupho handles the sound pressure well, without any distortion or sonic vibrations, true to ORCHAS technology.

I borrowed the X-mini KAI2 from my friend and compared to the Eupho. The KAI2 plays with boosted treble and bass but weak in details, as the louder instruments cover up the rest of the instruments. At high volumes, the KAI2 rattles and vibrates excessively to the roaring bass.

Amazing sound in a small package
by Scott C. Harris (5 out of 5 stars)

These outperformed my expectations in many ways. The sound quality is absolutely outstanding, better than my Panasonic speakers that I paid more than twice as much for. They claim to have a very very long battery life, which I haven't tested, but I have certainly run them for 6 hours at a time without losing battery. These are amazing, and I might actually buy a second pair.

Great speaker for the size of the unit
by Cameron Graves (5 out of 5 stars)

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
----------------------------------

Materials - 4/5 - The speaker is solidly constructed, and the materials feel like they will last quite a while. The matte outside of the black colored speaker attracts fingerprints and grease, so go with the white colored speaker if you'd like to avoid that. Any collected fingerprints can't be noticed from any reasonable distance, however, so that doesn't bother me very much. The expansion casing also feels very solid, and fits well onto the body of the speaker.

Sound - 5/5 - For the small size of this speaker, it packs quite a punch. It's certainly better than other similarly sized Bluetooth speakers I've heard. The speaker claims to have a frequency response range from 6 Hz - 18 kHz, and based on testing it with audiocheck.net, this is a pretty accurate statement. The speaker seemed to top out at around 17.5 kHz, and bottom out at 6 Hz. This range covers the frequencies most commonly used in songs and equalizers. I played some bass-heavy music on it, and while it wasn't a surround sound experience, I didn't find the bass to be muddy or distorted.

Design - 5/5 - The speaker is just as stylish as the stock photos let on. I feel like I bought this speaker in an Apple store. UB+ has done a great job of adding possibilities to this speaker, too. The most accessible expansion, I find, would be using the available BuddyStereo port on the speaker and hooking it up to a second speaker. This is a pretty neat feature, and the speaker includes a cable in the packaging for this purpose. UB+ also sells other accessories, such as a TV-soundbar style casing for 6 of these speakers, or an alarm-clock sized casing for 2.

Usability - 4/5 - The speaker's layout is simple, with 3 buttons and 3 ports. The power button also serves to set the speaker into pairing mode. The volume up/down buttons, when double-tapped, change the song. When trying to change the volume quickly, however, it can be annoying to suddenly change the song. The best way to change the volume quickly is to hold the buttons down.

Battery Life - TBD - I've only had the speaker for an afternoon, so bear with me while I put it through a few days use.

The attached pictures show the speaker in-use, placed on top of my toolbox while I worked on sprinklers. It's not a 'rugged' product, but I don't need it to be.

Great On Its Own, Phenomenal in Pairs
by Matt Morgan (5 out of 5 stars)
October 5, 2015

I will start by stating that the vendor sent two speakers to me, one white and one black. As such, I have a set of them and will be reviewing them both as a set.

A Bluetooth speaker is a good accessory to have if you enjoy listening to music on your phone or from your tablet. It allows you to share your music with others and sometimes the speaker can sound better than good set of headphones. I have worked with a lot of excellent speakers and I am a little slow to rave about a speaker, but these speakers are different. While the sound profile is very good and they put out a lot of sound, that is not what makes these speakers special. Rather, these speakers can be chained together and share the sound - even playing it in stereo. What's more, the chaining does not require the two speakers to be the same.

To look at these are not especially remarkable speakers. The speakers themselves stand less than 3" tall and are plain-looking cylinders, with few markings on the sides. There's an interesting mesh pattern on the top where the buttons are, but otherwise they are plain and uninteresting. That said, their looks hide their real assets.

Included with each speaker is a cup-like attachment and a small sleeve used to attach the cup to the speaker. Once assembled these look more interesting as the speaker sits in the cup and the cup is clear. It was not really clear what this cup did before I powered on one of the speakers.

When up and running these are actually nice speakers that have very good sound. I connected to my tablet and streamed some music to one of them and I was pleased with the sound profile, especially when the cup is attached to the bottom of the speaker. The bass is very good and not overpowering. The midrange is also very good and the music has the right depth as a result. The highs are clear and bright and it is easy to hear detail in the music.

Where these speakers get most interesting, though, is when they are directly connected to another speaker. There are two ports on the back, one labeled Analog In and the other labeled BuddyStereo. Using the buddy stereo, I plugged in another speaker and without even powering it on I suddenly has stereo music - no fussing and no fiddling with configurations. It just worked. And, it was true stereo too, with the two speakers playing different sounds.

I have seen some strange speakers and I have seen some really good ones. These are really different, in good ways. This is the first speaker pair I have used that has worked as well as it does and splits the music between the two channels properly simply by adding another speaker to the configuration. These are a little on the pricey side but they are worth their asking price.

Disclaimer: I was provided a sample of this product in exchange for a fair, honest and thorough review. Even though I received this product at no cost I have rated and reviewed this product without bias, based solely on my experience with it.
