Not good for beginnersby Andrea Deck (2 out of 5 stars)

I am just venturing into decorating and thought this was a great price for the product. This is so hard to put all three bags on that I only could use two bags successfully. And even only using the two bags was challenging because the frosting keep wanting to come out of the bottom ring. It worked a little better not filling the bags full but then I have to keep refilling. I do not recommend this for anyone just starting out.

1st attempt was a little clunky, but it worked. Happy with the result as I could never do this on my own. I used store bought frosting. It doesn't take a professional decorator to use this contraption. The included directions aren't the best. I discovered that once the bags are filled, it's almost impossible (unwieldy) to put the 3 wedges together & get the tip & coupler on. I suggest prepping the bags with the tips & assembling the large tip/coupler BEFORE filling with frosting. To fill, I put in a large, wide mouth container & then used a rubber band to secure all the openings closed. Twist the bag as you squeeze.
Also, when the frosting colors get low, you can switch colors without completely undoing the whole thing. Just add a different but complimentary color in each bag & it will gradually change to the new color. Some cupcakes will have 6 colors during the change over.
Difficult to use

This was really difficult to use. The 3 pieces wouldn't stay together so it was really hard to get them into one larger bag together. It took me about 30 minutes to get it together and working. The icing did look very nice once I was able to get it working.

The end result was very pretty but putting the colors together in the coupler was difficult. It was easier to put together with an extra set of hands.
Do not buy..this is a disaster!

The coupler is 3 pieces you must gather together and hope you can get the threaded ring in place. Even though it says you can use 2 bags for 2 color swirls you cannot.I tried and the icing will push back up and out the third coupler and it's a mess. Placing a third empty bag does not help. If you decide to do 3 colors I hope you have large strong hands,as with 3 bags it is rather unmanageable.Your icing has to be the right consistency of the pressure thru the coupler may cause a bag to rupture. Please save yourself the time and mess and just go to Wilkins site...they have a video that shows how to make two color swirls using only bags.
The only think I didn't like was that when I tried a two-color swirl

I bought this to make a two-color border on a black and white cake, and now I can't wait to try three-color swirl cupcakes during football season. The only think I didn't like was that when I tried a two-color swirl, the opening left by not having a third color allowed some of the icing to be pushed back out of the coupler. This did not affect the decorations, it just made my icing bags messy. Make sure you follow the package directions that suggest you only put half a cup of icing in each bag (you could probably fit a little more in), otherwise it gets unwieldy.
Waste of money

I bought this for my wife, at her request. This is her review. "Waste of money. I would give this zero stars if I could. I like and use a lot of Wilton products, but this one is more aggravating than useful. You can do this easier using Saran Wrap, a pastry bag, regular coupler and tip.* Less mess, one bag and better results. If you don't cut the tips of your bags just right, you will have a break out of frosting as the bags will break free from the coupler. It's also difficult to get even pressure trying to handle three bags at once. This is another useless tool from Wilton to make them more money. Buy the single large coupler instead."
* Lay out a piece of Saran Wrap (16" long, depending on your bag). Lay your three colors of frosting down the middle, side by side, leaving plenty of plastic wrap at the ends. Roll up, twist ends. It your bag, regular coupler and tip together. Insert plastic wrapped frosting into the set up, feeding one twisted end all the way through your tip, and trim. Pull it back slightly. Twist your outer bag until your end is tight and using appropriate angle and pressure, pipe away.
It's not for me.

I have a degree in Culinary Arts with an emphasis on baking and love trying out little gadgets like this. I've decorated a lot of cupcake cakes with multiple colors prior to buying this coupler, but I the concept was interesting. Unfortunately, I found it a little clunky and more time consuming than normal. I found it a little easier to work with if the bags didn't have a lot of frosting in them, but after doing about 50 cupcakes the novelty wore off. The cupcakes still turned out great, but I won't be using it again.
The result was beautiful, and I will give a a try again

It took 2 weeks to receive this coupler. I found it is difficult to work with, but than I am in my 70s and maybe my hands are not what they used to be. The result was beautiful, and I will give a a try again.
Love this!

This is very fun for decorating with frosting. Once you get the bags all together it's awesome. I gave it a 4star because it is a little hard to have frosting in the bags and put them all together. So, what I did was put the product together first, with the bags on and then filled the frosting. However, you do need two people to do this once you have some frosting in one-two of them so it doesn't fall. My 10 year old frosted cupcake all by herself and they came out awesome.
