Feed and Go went out of business so feeder no longer works!by Matt S. Faller (1 out of 5 stars)

I've had one of these feeders for the past 2 years but recently the company has gone out of business so all of the online features (access webcam, set schedules, activate feeding) are now totally unusable. Their website now says the following:
"Feed and Go is sad to say, it's closed it's doors.
We're extremely sad and sorry to say that Feed and Go has closed its doors. We had an amazing time helping thousands of pets eat healthier and on schedule. The time has unfortunately come to close the operation of our web app, and mobile app services. This will mean that unfortunately your Feed and Go's will no longer work as an automated feeder, and will not connect to our servers.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for being a part of our mission and wish you and your pet many happy moments ahead."
So... that sucks. Luckily my existing schedule of feeding is still working but I can't edit the old schedule or use the webcam or activate a new feeding at will. So I am now in possession of a very expensive internet controlled feeder that can't connect to the internet anymore...
All existing customers are in the same situation and I have heard that some are contacting their states attorney general office to see what if any action can be taken since the company filed for dissolution back in July but did not offer any warning and then as of October, their website and app were taken offline. Very poor way to handle this!
Product no longer supported by manufacturer rendering it completely useless

I, like many of you, own this product and had it rendered useless by Feedandgo sudden and unannounced closure. Contacted petinsurer.com, which is the same leadership team as Feedandgo. They were very apologetic and claimed their outsourced tech company shut its doors and left them with nothing. Don't know who to believe but it sounds like there are hundreds of people out there with a completely useless piece of plastic now. There should be some kind of recourse...
#1 Pet Feeder Out There!
by Elizabeth (5 out of 5 stars)

I am in love with this thing. I got a kitten (Ping) and decided I wanted to feed her mostly wet cat food. The first couple weeks were the worst. I had to plan a lot of my day around feeding her or I had to annoy my dad and sister and give them very specific details about how much to feed her and blah blah blah, IF they were even going to be home when she needed to be fed. I knew right away that wasn't sustainable so I googled around and found a few timed pet feeders. Most of them were for dry food so that was out. Most of the ones that allowed for wet food had a mixture of good and horrible reviews. A lot of people complained about their cat getting into them, tipping them over, etc. so those were out. I found one or two that looked good quality but I couldn't find any reviews and I didn't want to buy and expensive feeder that wasn't good quality. Most of them are pretty expensive too, so I'd rather pay a little bit more than waist $80+ on one that I wasn't happy with then have to spend even more money on something better quality. I'm so glad I chose the Feed and Go.
So the two things I thought were going to be pretty pointless turned out to be my favorite features. Those are the voice recording and the webcam. We have 2 cats. My sisters cat (Missy) is free fed dry food and since I'm doing the absolute opposite (meal feeding wet food) I was worried that Missy would end up eating Ping's food. I also didn't realize until I got it that it might take a little time for Ping to know to go the feeder when the compartment opens; that's why the recording is awesome. At the beginning she didn't come over when she heard it which was pretty frustrating. I would press the button a bunch of times and on the webcam she would never show up. After awhile she figured it out and I'm able to see her come running into the room. If it didn't have the webcam, one, I wouldn't know if she actually ate, and two, I wouldn't know if Missy ate her food. With the voice recording I can make sure she comes to the feeder before I press the "Feed Now" button. It would be frustrating if it only had the feed now button because then there would be the possibility that Missy would come over and I would just have to watch her eat Ping's food on the webcam.
Onto general stuff. Overall the feeder is very good quality. I don't see this breaking anytime soon. Ping can't get into it since it rotates underneath the cover and in order to open it you have to press two buttons at the same time.
Also, just something to be aware of, when I first got it and set it up I would try to click the call my pet over or feed now button and it would say it wasn't connected to the Internet, even though I just set it up and according to the back of the feeder it was connected. It only happened a few times and now it never happens so don't worry about it if that happens to you because it will probably go away.
And someone said something about wet food getting pushed into the corners. Ping has had a fine time getting all her food, but if this becomes a problem I would suggest getting some silicone cupcake holders and cutting them so they're shallow enough to fit inside the compartment and putting the food in there.
Improvement:
-one thing that really annoys me is that when you click "Call my pet over" a window pops up that says "do you want to call you pet over?" I click yes then another window pops up that says "do you want to open the webcam?" I click yes, even though the webcam was already open. I often times have to click the call my pet over button 5-10 times until Ping will come over, in the beginning it was waaay more. So it's really annoying to go through those windows so many times. I wish there was a feature that I could choose to call her over how many times and at what intervals. So I could choose to call her over say 10 times at 5 second intervals. It would make things so much easier. Sometimes I sit there for 5 minutes just pressing the call my pet over button over and over agin because she either doesn't hear it or maybe she's asleep. It's very frustrating.
I will post any updates if anything changes.
Nice! Leaving all your customers with useless junk!

Thanks a lot. I have bought 3 of these, now you close and desert your customers with equipment that cannot be used.
I have bought 3 of these feeders from you. Without an app or a way to program them, you have left me and thousands of customers with useless equipment. It would be appropriate if you developed a free app for customers to at least be able to program via their WiFi to make these feeders work.
Great feeder when it works.. Is the company still in business??

I loved this feeder, but now I'm wondering.. is the company still in business? I bought this feeder in May 2018. I set it up, it connected quite easily and my kitty and I LOVED it. It worked great until end of June. Since then, it randomly goes off line for no reason. I've followed all the FAQs, reset it to factory settings, moved it to new router, etc. Same issues. The feeder does feed on the schedule I set up as if it has power, but you have no idea if it has done so if you are away from home.. because it goes offline, and the "last feed date/time" has not updated since June 30.
I've tried to contact them via their email twice in the last 10 days and have had no response. So, I have to wonder.. are they still in business?
Fly-by-night company

The company has clearly went out of business and couldn't even spare the few hundred dollars maintain their server/website to keep the product functional.
Product was solidly built, though webcam is complete garbage. Android app is horrible, and you can't even press back to exit. Regardless of those negatives, it would have suited my needs to feed a diabetic cat at regular intervals while on vacation. The only problem was that the product stopped functioning <4 days prior to my vacation.
I can't believe that they have advertised this as being able to dispense "Meds". I really hope that nobody relied on this product to provide meds to their pet and had a negative outcome.
Company is non-responsive to communications. My product stopped functioning well within the 1 year money back guarantee. Considering that pets lives are at stake, it would have been nice to give the users an advanced notice.
DO NOT BUY: BEWARE

This, like many others have said, worked well for about 6 months. I've had this feeder for less than a year, and it has completely gone out. I can NOT ever count on it to feed my cat. To make matters worse I have 2 cats who have their own feeders, the one whose feeder is broken is on prescription food and now tries to eat the other cats food and he gets sick and pees all over the house. We only find out he hasn't been fed at night we when fill their feeders and his hasn't gone off all day.
The cherry on top has to be the fact that there is NO customer contact information on their website. I sent an email weeks ago and received no response, and their contact page on their website "cannot be found". I would never recommend someone to purchase this product. It was expensive - I figured it if I purchased one that cost this much it would last, but not even a year old. So disappointed.
Poof - company out of business

I really liked these feeders even after the first set (purchased in 2016) both died approximately two years later, forcing me to buy another set. Why re-purchase a product I already knew was had its flaws? Because these were pretty great for what they were and I haven't been able to identify a replacement with the same functionality (namely the ability to control remotely). It's all useless now that the company has gone out of business without warning, as others have noted. I mean, there were signs - I stopped receiving push notifications on the app months ago and wondered about that. The customer service even last December was prompt and helpful, but a couple of emails since the summer went unanswered. The fact that the feeders have been out of stock for months with a message that there were no plans to restock was also alarming. The quality of manufacture on the feeders purchased in 2018 was clearly lower - when plugged in with the new AC adapters, they emitted a high-pitched whine that I associate with cheap electronic components. Problem was solved by using the old adapters with new units. Anyway, my feeders are still functioning, for now, on their regular schedule. Of course I no longer have the ability to change the schedule or use the webcam, so I figure that the next time power or internet goes out it will kill them the rest of the way. I'm planning on going back to about as analog as you can get using the battery-powered Cat Mate C20. The price tag is a lot friendlier. Chalking this up, as an another reviewer did, to the perils of over reliance on tech, but man...I'd like at least some of my money back.

I was looking for a more reliable feeder for my 2 cats. One is an over-eater who was able to bust open the door to a less-expensive model within 20 mins. Took a chance and ordered this pricier feeder based on the reviews. Unfortunately the feeding tray gets stuck and doesn't rotate fully to allow access to the food, making it completely unreliable to feed my cats when I am away. The door is in fact more secure and my cat was not able to bust open the door, but she did manage to drag the entire thing across the room and pull it out of the socket, defeating the purpose.

If you're reading reviews for the short and sweet:
This feeder works great! It's exactly as described and operates reliably.
The quality in the materials and design are evident the moment you remove it from the package.
Order fulfillment was prompt and set up was easy for me. I've done both the WPS button and the set up with a smart phone.
I've used it daily since June 2015, with only a couple intermissions due to moves, and it's performed as expected, day in and day out.
The creators of the product are wonderfully responsive to inquiries, and made the suggestion of a UPS for battery back up if your needs require it. Very smart and helpful idea!
A couple notes:
In the instance a breaker tripped while we were away, I was made aware there was a problem in real time - feed notifications didn't come in my email and when connecting via the portal, it showed as disconnected. This gives you the opportunity to do something or call someone, not come home hours or days later to a starved pet.
If you are showing someone looking after your pet how to load the feeder, make sure you explain which direction it rotates (counter clockwise) and where to put the food, or better yet, mark it on the tray. Seems simple, but if you don't do it every day, or you haven't seen it operate... you wouldn't know.
These were the only instances in almost a year that I experienced any issue, and the feeder was not to blame.
Now, if you're reading reviews because you want to know WHY you NEED this product, here is my personal story:
My cat was diagnosed with diabetes last year, which required a change in diet and feeding schedule. I struggled to balance this with my work and personal life and as others have mentioned, it makes leaving the house for more than 12 hours require the help of someone else to feed your loved one... and do it correctly, and let you know they're ok, and do it twice a day at the proper interval.
I researched several feeders, but was hesitant to pull the trigger, meanwhile the struggle continued. I needed to leave for a weekend to help my parents out, I was contemplating turning down a photography event that paid very well, I was organizing social events around the feeding schedule, or missing them altogether.
If you think it's just a small thing that you don't mind making work because you love your animal, you're probably kidding yourself, I know I was. You're researching feeders because you need help. By making an investment in a quality feeder, that you can actually rely on to help you care for your pet - that is love, too.
Enter, the feedandgo.
The choice for me was that it had every thing I needed, and more. Most important was the capability to dispense wet food and to hold it for more than an hour or two, and the capacity to load up to six feeds. I only load for 12-18 hours at a time, but have done up to two days. The web cam and online scheduling/feeding were neat perks, but not selling features for me.
Then there was the price. Probably my biggest reason for pause. It was a lot more than others I had looked at, however it offers a lot more... I kept wondering, are those things worth it?
Ultimately, it was the only one that met the important needs, and I finally decided that those were invaluable.
It was after I got it and started using it that I came to realize all the benefits of such a product and that it's worth every penny!
I was bad at feeding my cat on time, a few minutes here or there, but it all adds up. When her schedule improved, so did her health and her mood. The web cam I thought I'd never use is really fun! My nephew loves to check on the cat, and it's the best way for me to KNOW without a doubt my pet was fed, a piece of mind I've become thankful to have. The online format of making a schedule allows for more complexity than a simple timer. You can make a regular schedule, with certain days and times, or set a one time schedule. Lots of flexibility there to adapt to all kinds of special needs.
My cat still knows I feed her, she's well aware I'm the one that loads it - or the rare occasion I don't, however instead of harassing me the two hours before she gets fed, she goes near the feeder and waits. This means no more 4 a.m. hungry cat wake up calls.
Turns out, all the things the feeder helps me with has made me a happier human, and, by delegating this part of being a pet owner, it enables me to focus on quality time spent on my pet.
Think about how much any of these things are worth to you, for just one day. Multiply it by 365... likely in far less than a year you will have made a return on your investment.
Company went under

It's kind of a moot point writing a review at this point since these things are no longer for sale, but the company is defunct and no longer supports these devices. Mine has kept feeding on the same schedule, but there is no longer any way to change the schedule since these things are dumb without website/app access.
I guess this is the risk you take buying a "smart" device, I've got a couple expensive paper weights now. It's too bad, they worked really well for us while they were still supported.
