Product Description
WingLights Mag are our original high quality direction indicators that magnetically attach to your handlebar ends. Easy to install and use, the indicators flash bright amber and can be seen from all angles and at any time of the day. When removed, the units clip together to form a keyring on a karibiner for safekeeping.Featured in The London Evening Standard, Road Safety GB and Road.CC, WingLights by CYCL are the next step in cycling safety innovation. Built with high quality aluminium. WingLights Fixed are bright, flashing amber direction indicators that can be seen from all angles in both day and night.
Why WingLights?
Approximately 75% of accidents per year involving bicycles occur at major junctions and whilst turning. CYCL aims to reduce this figure by helping to increase cyclists' visibility in these dangerous areas. When using WingLights as a supporting visual aid, you are more likely to be seen by drivers and other cyclists - lowering the chance of collisions and helping to increase your confidence when riding.
Long Battery Life
WingLights use 2 x Cr2032 batteries. This provides you with 24 hours of constant usage, which equals 1440 minutes. Alternatively, WingLights are compatible with 2 x Lir2032 rechargeable batteries.

Great concept - but the magnet isn't strong enough....you will hit, knock off - and lose a light.by Michael Lydick (2 out of 5 stars)

The product is a good product - in that it does what it says it will do. Hit the switch - it blinks. Hit it again - it stops blinking. The problem is the magnetic coupling. If you hit the light unintentionally while riding - the light falls off. How do I know this? Because when I was riding - the right side WingLight came off....about 3 miles from my home. Imagine that wonderful feeling, riding 1 mile per hour scanning the side of the road, looking for a light that cost this much money. There should be a locking mechanism that prevents the lights from coming off (twist lock?) but there isn't.
My advice if you buy these - take a dab of epoxy, and glue your lights to their magnetic coupling. Otherwise- you'll lose one side and feel sick like I did today.
Excellent with one significant flaw

I purchased the removeable lights (and paid more for them than the non-removeable) thinking there'd be some vague benefit to being able to take them off. It was a mistake. If the ends are even nudged, the light pops off and falls to the road. To be clear, it doesn't take a collision, a sideswipe, tip-over, etc. to dislodge the light -- merely bumping it with your wrist while reaching for a water bottle or something can result in a lost light. Although I've yet to lose one, I have had to retrieve a light a couple of times from the shoulder of the road. Worse than that, I no longer have confidence in their mounting so when they are on the bike, I feel the need to keep checking that they are there.
There is a simple fix that the company could do that would dramatically increase the "sticktoitiveness." Right now, there is a small groove in the handlebar plug receiving end that matches up with a small pin on the base of the light. This pin and groove are designed to keep the light correctly oriented. If the groove, however, were cut in an "L" shaped pattern, the light would essentially lock in. Since such machine work is beyond my resources, I will probably just install a tiny set screw in the receptical and lock the light s down semipermanantly.
Now, the good part. These seem to be quite well made and function well for their purpose. They are not cheaply constructed, and I expect --assuming I don't lose them -- that they will last a long time. They are easy to install, and very easy to use. Since most bicycles don't sport turn signals, these get drivers' attention.
A simple change in the pin & groove would change my 3 star rating to a 5 star.
Almost there.

These are a nice solution to an old problem. Sleek, clean, compact design that is visible from front, back, and sides. I dig the magnetic removable design. And, they're easy to operate.
Reason for 3 stars then?
The problem comes when it's time to install them. The little knurled nut they provide is made of an inferior material (aluminum??) and is not tapped to good tolerances. I had two of these nuts strip out of four, so now one of my bikes has signals and the other does not. Yes, I followed the instructions on 'pre-tightening' before inserting into the handlebar, and that's when it stripped. Could not compress the rubber enough to get it to stick in the handlebars (yes, within size range).
My recommendation to the mfr is to check those nuts, because they strip easily and are just slightly off from the dimension they should be for the screw they are on. I will be sourcing some specialty nuts through the internet - made of steel.
Wing-Lights are a MUST for safe Riding

Recently we bought two VELEC electric assisted Bicycles, and have outfitting them with necessary accessories. The two sets of WingLights are mounted into the end-caps of the handlebars. The NEW version 2 Winglight has a better/stronger attachment mechanism making it almost impossible to knock off. However as an added precaution we wrapped Black electrical tape or Gaffers Tape to prevent any possible detachment by bumping into something. The tape is removeable to change the 2032 Lithium batteries. When you tap the end of the Light, it will blink Signaling those in front, behind, and at the side, signaling your intention to turn, it blinks for 45 seconds and auto-turns off.
Great material, smart design, be seen and not second guessed by motorists.

SUPER bright and blink 360. They fit on my Bontrager satellite elite grips. A little bit of elbow grease, a couple of twists and those puppies aren't going anywhere. Really great quality materials. Well designed, doesn't take a lot of force to activate the lights - easily use my finger but not accidentally activate. I'm comfortable cycling in the daytime, evening and when it's cloudy/raining because drivers will know where I'm going and don't have to guess. Much more comforting than using a hand signal and hoping drivers know what it means.
Great Bike Safety Accessory

These WingLights have added so much confidence to my bike rides by clearly indicating to both motorists and pedestrians my turning direction intentions. No more do people have to guess at what my hand signals mean. Very easy to install and add an attractive appearance to my bike. The magnetic hold is quite strong, however, at times contact made to the WingLights (bumped or brushed against) has dislodged them. Perhaps a slotted twist-lock in addition to the magnetic hold would more securely keep them attached to the handlebar end and still allow them to be conveniently removed to prevent them from theft. This is a great product.

These are awesome! As we fell back an hour after daylight savings, riding after work gets dark. People aren't going to see my normal hand signals as well. I bought a front light, rear light, and wear a reflective vest at night for safety. These signals are nice and bright and I feel they complete my bike's safety features.
The magnets are very strong. I really don't see how you could accidentally knock these off your bike unless you lean on the light section directly. Being able to detach these is great since I won't use them on bright days. Installation was easy and the included carabiner to take them along with you is an appreciated addition.
Really great!

I love the functionality of these lights - if I could go back in time, I would have bought the non-magnetic lights, because these stick out a bit more and I've never really felt the need to remove them; they're just fine and snug on their own.
The best

This came yesterday. I am a mechanical idiot, but found it extremely easy to install on my bike. The direction indicators look GREAT, very visible and very easy to activate. I love that I can take them with me on the included clip whenever I leave my bike, and that they are a snap to reinstall. This is just a really wonderful product, very well thought out and very functional. And very easy to install, did I mention that?
