Best Looking Backpack for Business / Great for All Your Gear But Nothing More

I have always used backpacks for business and for my laptops and this is probably the finest looking pack that I have ever owned. The closest thing (nowhere near as polished a look and smaller) is this Core Laptop pack from Belkin Belkin Core Laptop Backpack (Pitch Black/Soft Gray) fits up to 15.6-Inch laptops which apparently became such a cult item that it's now up to $159.

How Big A Laptop?

While the Decode bag won't quite fit my largest Tosh 18" gaming machine, it can handle my 15" x 9.75" x 0.78" HP Omen with room to spare -- the inside of the main compartment measures about 16.5" tall and 11.25" across and 2" thick. So it should accept anything except latops with the largest 17-18" screens. The bottom of the main compartment is thickly padded and there's the usual separate sleeve for a tablet.

Takes All the Gear

As others have noted this is a slim bag not suitable for stuffing full of files or documents but if you carry a laptop, tablet, phone, chargers, cables, earbuds, pens, bizcards and a small notebook -- it will all fit without over-stuffing the bag or putting pressure on the zippers. The bag is tall enough so you can tuck power brick(s) at the bottom of the main compartment and still have room on top for a 15" laptop.

Water Resistance

I have a truly waterproof backpack for kayaking and while the zippers on this have a similar look, I'd consider them water (rain) resistant by comparison -- not immersion proof. The water repellent outer skin is similarly good at shedding rain.

Security and Other Pouches

The security compartment is a hoot - I didn't even notice it for a couple of weeks - and if you tuck the zipper pull inside I doubt it will be found, short of a very thorough examination -- moreover because it's located behind the pad, if you use it for valuables that are tucked in a padded pouch, any valuables are likely to feel like part of the pad if someone rifles through the inside of the bag. There are no water bottle holder pouches or phone pouches on the sides -- nor would they work well with a bag this slim. I prefer the clean look.

Great Value for the Look

The aesthetics and production quality are easily those of a pack costing 30% more -- so a great value that really works. I put a lot of wear and tear on my packs -- actually thinking of getting a second one at some point just to have as an eventual replacement -- these are that good.

Back pocket starting to break after only one month (see picture)

Both of the zippers broke and are impossible to repair

Dont buy it.

I just ordered my second Decode backpack. This backpack is awesome. I travel a lot for work and wanted a bag that forced me to stay conservative with what I put in it. This is truly a slim and sleek backpack and is way less bulky and heavy than my old one. It also looks really nice. I can't begin to tell you all the compliments I have received on it while at the airport. I thought this was a little strange since it is just a black bag, but the modern look of it catches people's attention. The only issue I had was that the front zipper busted out after a little less than a year of use. This was very disappointing, but here I am buying another one. My only other suggestion to the manufacturer would be to change the purple interior to a lighter or brighter color. It is hard to see wires and find stuff sometimes due to the dark purple color. It is pretty, but not always practical.

Used to travel for work. Its size limits you to just needed items witch is the primary reason to purchase. The look and quality is great. The blue on the inside adds a custom look to a sleek bag. Everything of mine has a place and that makes it easy to ensure I have everything. The freedom of only having what you need is a great freedom. No more Sherpa traveling for me.

This bag is incredible! The look is what I mainly bought it but the space it provides is more than what the pictures give it credit.

My laptop is 15.6 inches and it fits with a couple inches to spare. The inside portion leaves enough room for a tablet, a 500 page notebook, and one of my text books (That's currently what I have in it and I use it for college). Any more than that will probably over stuff it and make it look weird on your back but it does the job with great looks.

This is a nice bag! Seems like quality is pretty decent, but could really use some rubber feet for the bottom (which would make the bag more computer friendly, imo). Other commenters were correct in criticizing the smell of the bag itself. The bag seem to have a strong smell from the materials (which I have called a factory smell). You can definitely smell it sitting a meter away from the bag itself. Just hoping the smell will go away quickly with repeated use...

Thin, sleek looking and exactly what I needed for a work bag. It is lightweight and surprisingly holds a lot of things!

UPDATE: I've been very busy lately, but I have been meaning to post this update. After less than a weeks use, the Velcro strap for the laptop pouch became fully detached. I didn't over pack it and the only thing I used the laptop pouch for was a spiral notebook so it must have been very poorly sewn on. There is also a loose thread on the handle - minor annoyance. Luckily, I didn't buy this for the laptop pouch and it still serves as a great work bag so I will still give it 3 stars, but if the laptop pouch is crucial for you then be aware.

Nice looking bag. Comfortable to wear, and perfect compact size. The one major drawback is that the front inside pocket has nylon pouches & pen holders. There are no elasticity zippered pockets, or key chain rings. The result is that my chargers, USB sticks, pens, and other items tend to fall out (all still contained behind the main zipper of course).

Got this for my husband. It is very compact and it looks very slick. Perfect if you need to wear it with a suit. He is always having meetings with important people and needs to dress up. This backpack is perfect for that. It is also big enough to fit everything that he needs in it.

Great quality backpack. Holds everything you need it to and doesn't feel loose or let everything slosh around inside. Everything just feels like it's made well. One warning though if you're a big guy and buy this you may look like a teenage girl with one of those little backpack purses... it's kinda small.
