I got this on a whim to see if it really worked,I was surprised! It's really convenient and straight forward. Blowing properly takes a bit of practice,you have to blow softly! but once you get the hang of it,it's quite accurate.it's definitely better than having a little piece on there that everyone touches. The company says there are lots more app features coming..can't wait!!

Also bought through the kickstarter, but this version has a nicer finish, is less error prone than the original, and overall seems more accurate.

Certainly the most inexpensive one I could find, and can see myself picking up a few of these as gifts once the holidays come around if they make one that works with iPhone.

Love this device. Good for check points or safe riding with friends. Never again feel unsafe with a buddy who says they are not drunk. Simply open the app, connect the device and test the alcohol content. Could possibly save your life.

Not what you hoped for

It seemed to work first try but it looks like you get what you pay for. Trouble getting readings and very inaccurate. Went from a .03 to a .00 to a .06 in 3 consecutive readings. Do not recommend.

This product is a lot of fun to use, and since you blow into it you don't have to worry about other people getting their mouth on it. The shipping was fast and well-packaged!

Doesn't work at all

Doesn't work! Been drinking all night and it still registers a .00. Tried on a friend's phone and did the same thing. Even had friends who are absolutely hammered try it and it says we are completely sober.

Hopefully mine is just defective and I can just get a new one. Will change my review when I get a new unit.

Do not buy this product! I was stupid enough to ignore the other reviews and purchased the DrinkMate Smartphone Breathalyzer. The product routinely failed, giving error messages more often than it actually worked. Now, just beyond 30 days since I purchased the device, it has stopped working entirely. This is the same issue everybody else seems to be having, in that the device rarely works and then just stops for no apparent reason. This was a complete and total waste of my money.

Very inaccurate, not even worth it for a few laughs.. Dangerous, had been drinking a lot and said I was .04. I was definitely well over .10 after more than 3 shots and a few beers in 2 hrs. STAY AWAY, very untrustworthy

I got this product as a fun gift for a friend, not to be taken too seriously. After reading the mixed reviews, I figured I'd risk it. I'm happy I got it, but I so wish it had more accurate readings. I don't have any problems using it with my phone (no errors, never says a really innaccurate reading like 0.00% even after drinking, etc.), but it's definitely not consistent enough to count on any of the readings (sometimes 4 drinks and 1 drink both give the same 0.03% BAC, for example). Nevertheless, I would buy the product again, because it was more for fun than for any real purpose, and since it began as a kickstarter, I have faith that the makers behind DrinkMate will keep working to improve the product/app!
