This protects what it covers. I have a 2013 Fusion and it covers the back seat pretty well. However, the ends of the seats, right by the windows, don't tend to stay covered for the entire journey. Usually my dog ends up getting his paws all over the seats there. So far he hasn't torn anything but it makes me nervous. I am going to try to engineer a way to keep the ends of the hammock attached to the seat so they don't move (and so the tops of the ends don't flap around when I roll the window down). To be fair, my dog is 140lb. This is otherwise a great hammock so far!

EDIT: I have lowered my rating to 3 stars. As soon as this came out of the wash (gentle cycle, cold water) after I had only used it for a total of maybe 2 hours in the car, I noticed multiple tears in the material, mostly along the seams of the seat belt openings. A couple of tears were on the main part of the cover and were clearly caused by my dog's nails. Either I didn't notice these tears before I put it in the wash, or this thing isn't as washable as it says. Like I said, I have a large dog, but I didn't think that would be an issue since the cover doesn't have to support his weight--the seat does. If I had a smaller dog and the same tears had occurred, I would only give this 2 stars. But I understand that most people's dogs are smaller than mine and might not experience this problem. I would not recommend this for large dogs.

Too slippery

Nice quality hammock. While the material seems sturdy, it is also thin enough that I think it will go through the washing machine much easier than my old one. I was planning on covering it with a thin blanket or sheet that I could pull off and wash, but I don't think I will need to. It is also softer, less stiff, so I think my dog will find it much more comfortable, too. I received this item at a reduced cost in for an honest review.

Update: This hammock slides all over the place on the seat, always looks messy, and my dog can't get any traction on it - it is so slippery. Tried putting a blanket over it so he doesn't slide so much, but it just ends up bunched up and my dog is still sliding around. Purchased a different hammock to repace this one.

Exactly what I was looking for, and at a great price. My lab used to ride very well in my SUV with the seats folded down. Now that I've switched to a much smaller four door, this helps him relax as he doesn't have to worry about falling off the seat when the car slows down. The hammock cleans up easily and does a great job of protecting the seats. I really appreciate it being waterproof as you know how labs love water. (Seats were bone dry. The dog, not so much.) Well worth the money!

No instructions for install, but you don't have to be a genius. Can throw it into backseat, or easier if you have an SUV like in pic, lay down rear seats, snap buckles and of to wherever. I like the pocket, and the two cut-outs with Velcro for seatbelt buckles. Only complaint the stitching for zipper is frayed already. Other than that great for running dog to vet or park.

I have only had it for a few minutes but I already know I can't live without it. It took me a matter of seconds to look at the package picture, clip the straps on the product to my seats, and it's done! A few adjustments, and it's perfect. My two dogs can now lie comfortably without their beds falling into the floorboard and my husky no longer can hop up in the front seat with me! Perfect product

Well made item, covered the back seat for my mutts to help protect the car interior. The material is sturdy enough for my big dogs, but not too heavy either. Very happy with my purchase!

This cover fits my 2005 Nissan Altima perfectly! My pup doesn't seem to mind it one bit. A key feature for me was that the seatbelt openings velcro shut. I dont use these and the last seat cover let her fur get on the seats, so when i removed it I still needed to vacuum. Very happy with purchase

works great with my two dogs. i have used this item several times in my car after i take my dogs for a swim in the creek. i can promise you it keeps the water and sand off my seats and does not leek onto the chair. its is easy to clean and also easy for my kids to take down and put back up when they help
