Really neat little gadget. However, it should be a different color. Since most tomatoes are red and the slicer is red, it is difficult to ascertain accurately where to insert the knife blade. A contrasting color would work better.

I bought this tool a few months ago, and I've used and cleaned it about 50 times, and it's still almost like new. I have seen other reviews stating THEY THINK it's not going to last, but I'm reviewing stating I KNOW it will last, or at least long enough to justify its price-point. I'm starting to get some rough edges in the grooves from knicking it with the knife (which is why I use this, I can't hold a knife steady enough to slice tomatoes safely anymore without a guide like this). Keep in mind I've never put it through the dishwasher, I only handwash it, which is very easy to do. The spring has not started to rust yet either. Good product, I will re-buy it when it wears out.

I ALWAYS have trouble slicing tomatoes...even with a properly sharpened chef's knife. This device secures the tomato safely and allows you to slice it. You do need two working hands... one to anchor it, the other obviously to use the knife. You have to pay attention to ensure the knife is properly aligned in the slots. You can't do this quickly, but then, you shouldn't cut tomatoes quickly unless you are a contestant on Iron Chef!

This does exactly what I want it to do. Highly recommended.

I was disappointed. The spring popped off and broke a little piece of that part off with it when I tried to insert a thin bladed knife plus one of the 'teeth' broke off at that time. I threw it in the trash.

This product is a good idea but poorly executed. You need a very sharp knife to make it work, and it's tricky to get the knife to align in the guides properly. Small or large tomatoes don't work well. When it works, you do get perfectly sliced tomatoes, just like at a sub shop. However, after using about five times, the plastic hinge at the bottom broke and the whole thing fell apart. Fortunately that didn't happen while I was cutting! I would definitely not recommend this product.

Used this for the first time today, and it was about what I expected. I got nice even slices, and was not in fear of slicing myself. My only problem is caused by the fact that I peel my tomatoes. So the slicer grip doesn't want to hold it as stable as I'd like; however, with a little attention to the way I held it, there was no big problem.

I like the size of tomatoes I get with this slicer and they are uniform. Thin slices using ever groove or thicker if skipping to one ever other groove. Works for other products as well...lemons, larger limes, small onions. I love the red color as it goes with my preferred color scheme so I can leave it out as a conversation piece...."What is that!" . Love it.

This is a nice vegetable slicer. I've used it a couple of times and works well.

The plastic material of the "teeth" is more soft and pliable than I would have expected giving the notion that some would snap off if used too vigorously.

The spring works fine and opens to accommodate larger tomatoes and potatoes.

Overall it works well for its intended use but unsure how long it will last.

My husband has nagged me for years over how I cut tomatoes. I'm not a chef; and I mostly don't care. So my tomato slices were usually uneven and all over the place. He got me this slicer and I finally used it for the first time - and every slice of the tomato was uniform and perfect. I will definitely be using it again and would highly recommend it.

Seems to be OK, but I went back to my mandoline slicer. I tried 'orienting' the tomato different ways, but just couldn't get it to slice consistently... seemed to work slightly better with small tomatos than large tomatos... in the past I've gotten some huge beefsteak tomatos and I doubt they would fit in this.
