She's not easily frightened or freaked out
by Mono (4 out of 5 stars)

My wife and I ordered this Creepy Tapping Peeper hoping to scare our 16 year old daughter. She's not easily frightened or freaked out. It arrived today and my wife and I had some time to check it out, put it in different locations and see how it worked. First of all, I was impressed with how realistic it looked. The skin has some shadowing to it and the eyes have a bit of sparkle and shine. It's not going to fool anyone if you hold it up in front of them, but through a window at a quick glance or walking into a room, it is awesome. The tapping feature is fantastic. The finger has a little piece of metal on it, so when it taps, it sounds like tapping a coin on glass. The only negative I can see is that although it is motion sensor, it doesn't register at night very well. We noticed that it will only taps when you turn the lights out, versus walking into a dark room and turning the lights on hoping it will go off. Kind of reverse of what you would expect. The ten second "On" option is best and it will tap three times every ten seconds. Very realistic and creepy. My daughter was freaked out and laughing uncontrollably when she finally figured out it was a prop. Even when she knew it was fake, when it tapped on the next 10 seconds she jumped and ran out of the room again! I can't wait to take this to friend's houses and at parties. The suction cup that hold it on the window is attached with fishing style line and can't be seen from inside a room at night. The whole thing is pretty damn scary, creepy and realistic. The only reason it got a 4 star rating is because the motion sensor was opposite of what I would have expected.....turns on when the lights are turned off versus tapping when the lights are turned on. Other than that, I think this prop is great and can't wait to scare and freak out my friends.

I love this Halloween decoration

I love this Halloween decoration! I put it in my front window and set it to the sensor option. Every time someone walked up to my house it would tap and give them a little scare. I got so many comments on it! Beware though, it is scary for really little kids. My kids are 6 and 8 and they loved it, but my 3 year old niece was scared to death of it and made me cover it with the curtains each time she came over! Another thing to note is that the sensor option doesn't work well at night. It worked great during the day, but once it got dark outside it stopped tapping when people came to the door. I still think it deserves 5 stars because it really is a great decoration!

Hey guys! First of all, I NEVER write a review on anything but had to with this! This prop is AMAZING!!! Just got it a day early and couldn't wait to try it out. Was skeptic that some of the bad reviews on here saying that the finger wasn't long enough and this and that were true. That couldn't be further from the truth! Once again gang, this thing is incredible!!! Love Love love it!!!! PS, I've invluded a video!!:)

scared off the solicitor and UPS driver.

I have a camera doorbell and I got some good laughs watching deliveries and solicitors. Most people were initially spooked and back away from the door but I could see them leaning in to try to determine who was tapping on the window. Of course, once they realize they've been fooled you could hear them laughing or saying they were scared! I placed it on the window portion of my door and put it on "sensor. There is one small issue. It appears that the sensor is not sensitive to movement. It works by sensing shadows/light changes. When the person comes close, it blocks the light and triggers tapping. It also goes nuts for a few minutes as the sun goes down. But, the sensor didn't work after the sun went down and there was no light source. I turned on the porch light on halloween and it seemed to work better. I could tell when the trick or treaters got close because it would start tapping. Freaked out a few little kids but most of them LOVED it! My husband got so sick of a month of tapping that he threatened to cut the wires...HA! overall, it was a fun addition to my halloween decorations. Just keep in mind that if you place it in a window that has no one passing by or triggering the sensor, you would have to leave it on continuous tapping. And that may drive you nuts!

I love this witch

I love this witch. I have her in my side window as you walk up our walkway. She gets me every time. Her tap makes you turn & look. At night, like on Halloween, you can put her on automatic. Her sensor doesn't really work great at night, do the automatic option is best. The price I paid was significantly less than offered elsewhere. I'm thrilled with my purchase. Although it is only beginning of September, I'm leaving her up until halloween.

Greatest Scare to Spend Money On
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

This was the BEST decoration purchase I've made yet. I used this at my office and set it up outside our conference room window...it did exactly as I wanted it to. The biggest guy in our office walked into the conference room to open the blinds and literally yelped when he saw the Peeper, and then went to get our GM thinking it was a real person. It was great! Later that evening (Halloween), I hung it outside my youngest brothers room (16 years old) and hid in his closet to record his reaction. The Peeper has a metal disc on the end of its finger so the tapping isn't terribly loud but it's noticeable enough for someone to look for where it's coming from. My brother open his shutters, sees the Peeper, slams the shutters closed and sprints out of his bedroom yelling. It was the FUNNIEST reaction I've seen and better than I could've hoped for. I will absolutely use this again next year, and I may even get another one. BTW, they're very realistic, so if you have someone you plan on scaring with this, make sure they're not someone who's a quick trigger if you get what I'm saying.

This Scary Pepper Tapper is the best Halloween Novelty I've Ever Owned in 50 years.

This little window tapper scares the pants off everybody when hung on the right place on a window. I'm a process server who serves people with court papers. I was having trouble serving some guy getting sued to answer his door so I put the tapper on his window at 3 in the morning, set the switch to continuous, and sat in a chair for about a half hour before the annoying tapping on his window made the defendant come out to the frightening sound...and get served. Gottcha! Thank you Scary tapper!! I can't wait for Halloween although it scares people all year long.

Cool Prop
by Kristina (5 out of 5 stars)

The motion detection works perfect during the day. The suction cup didn't really stay after I moved him from window to another but it was able to fit onto my window ledge (inside the house) without the suction cup. Haven't tried the motion detector at night so I will either leave it on auto tap every 10 seconds or shine a flashlight onto the prop to see if that helps the motion detector work better at night.

Could have been great--motion sensor is junk.
by Brian (1 out of 5 stars)

I ordered this from Amazon as a replacement for one that I purchased somewhere else and I thought was defective. Well, this one worked even worse than the one it replaced. The main issue is the motion sensor. It only works when a light is turned on (or pointed at the sensor) and then turned off. I guess the manufacturer was hoping that someone would walk close enough to it to block the ambient light and trip the sensor, but it doesn't work that way. Even waiving your hand directly in front of it rarely triggers it. Had such potential, but they went cheap on the electronics. The timer setting works fine, but why pay $50-60 for that?
