5.Neatly route the red wire from the relay to one side circuit breaker installed in step 5. Cut to length and install using a small yellow ring terminal .With another small yellow ring terminal take the remaining red wire and connect the unused post on the circuit breaker to the battery source. This wire is printed"to battery/constant hot"

NOT 3/8 NPT!
by Rachel Flores (3 out of 5 stars)

Cant speak for the product yet but IT IS NOT A 3/8 THREAD! In the picture provided is the sensor i recieved next to a 3/8 bolt. (The threads are different but the point is the sizes are completely different as well) went to my tap and die set and turns out that its a 5/8 fine thread. i bought a inline unit that is a 3/8 bung that are "frequently purchased together" but the sensor doesnt even come close to fitting. The 2nd picture is the 3/8 bolt started in the inline unit (threads dont match, just used for size reference) and the last picture is the sensor placed in the bung. Dont have time to return so i have to drill, and tap the bung to fit sensor, DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU NEED 3/8 NPT IT WILL NOT FIT!

Replaced declutching useless fan, now keeps temp steady around 180 degrees

Confusing instructions, as I've never installed a relay before, but found a few pics that helped. Labeled the leads coming from the relay and installation was painless. Replaced declutching useless fan, now keeps temp steady around 180 degrees. Installed a 160 thermostat, fan comes on at 185 and shuts off at 175. Very pleased with product.

Good quality components for reasonable price - poor instructions
by Big-Foot (4 out of 5 stars)

The instructions were lacking the arrows that I drew in and attached here for other buyers.

If you were to have hooked it up wrong, you could have easily fried the relay as the 30amp automatic resetting circuit breaker would allow enough current to nuke it.

The relay included with this kit is a 60 amp relay which is a pretty high rating for the wiring, but I've not yet seen even a pair of large fans pull more than 40 amps on cold start-up.

A small dab of teflon thread sealant at the very top of the threads is a good idea. This way the bottom threads will make good contact for your ground reference on the sending unit. I just can't see putting NPT fittings together dry as they will usually start to weep after a while...

Don't follow the diagram. Read the instructions.
by Billy Velardo (4 out of 5 stars)

As like some people have said, the image on the instructions are completely rediculus. my buddy and I had to look up a diagram for the relay to understand what the hell we were dealing with. Once we sorted that out, wiring went pretty easy. The diagram looks like it wants you to do one thing but, its actually for the wire underneath. We got it all wired up, let the car run until temp came up and bam, fan kicked on and off like it's supposed to!

On another note, it also says to not use thread tape! Complete lies. We didn't like the instructions told us not to and guess what!?! It leaked. Took it back apart and put tape on the threads like a normal person and it still worked just fine. I didn't have any problem with the fittings provided. The bigger fitting fit perfectly into the thermostat housing and the temp gauge thing fit into that! Piece of cake! Now we'll see if it outlast the ones I kept buying at Horrid Zone.

Good wiring kit for the price, but follow the "written" instructions, not the picture.

Good wiring kit overall. I would be prepared to have a few of your own connectors in case something is different in your engine bay than these connectors provide for.

The instructions are two-sided and one side is wrong. You have the written details side which is correct. The picture side has the wrong color wires going to the wrong place. Use the detailed written side.

Good wiring kit for the price.

Works Great
by Solar Fabric (5 out of 5 stars)

Works Great .I was able to wire to an adjustable thermostat by bypassing( not using ) thermostat that came with product so that I can now set to temperature I need ..

It is able to handle amperage for a 18 inch fan and 10 inch fan wired in series without blowing fuses which was problem I had before buying this ..

I had asked multiple Auto parts stores and also my brother who is a mechanic if there was set up to pull power directly from battery but using relay from ingition so that fan would not run when ignition was off and they all said no such setup existed..

They were all wrong ..

I will post name of adjustable thermostat i use soon

Has most of the components I needed.
by HackMATTr (4 out of 5 stars)

I bought this kit for my mustang so I could install an electric fan as a pusher on the radiator. It has most of the components I needed to make the job easier.

I was debating on using this sensor or a probe in the radiator on my car. I initially thought I could use this temp sending unit on my vehicle, but I did not find a spot on my engine that would work. So I used the relay, wiring, and circuit breaker in combination with the other sensor to get the job done.

The 4 stars is not due to my error. The relay wiring harness brings out my OCD. There is a mounting hole on the relay and a mounting hole on the socket it plugs into for the wiring. When you plug the relay in, the holes are on opposite sides. So you either have to mount only the relay or only the socket. You can't turn the relay to have the holes on the same side.

Also, the diagram on the instructions are helpful, but the written part looks like it was translated. I recommend using both the diagram and a diagram on the internet to install the fan in the configuration you want.

Do not buy if you want quick, easy or at a low price!!!

The one I received IS NOT ⅜" TEMPERATURE PROBE!!! DID NOT FIT MY CAR OR THE ADAPTER I BOUGHT JUST FOR THIS KIT. HOW I HAVE TO GET A BIG DRILL BIT AND A BIG ENOUGH TAP. THE LOW COST WAS MORE MONEY THAN IF I WOULD HAVE JUST BOUGHT A BRAND NAME PROUDCT! FYI, IT IS 1/2" AND WITH ADAPTER IT IS 3/4" WAY TO BIG! I SEEN OTHER SAID IT WAS TO BIG BUT NO MEASUREMENTS, I WAS THINKING THEY JUST GOT THE WRONG ONE BUT NO!! AFTER I GET MORE ITEMS IN AND CAN INSTALL IT I WILL ADD TO THIS.

Nice heavy duty fan wiring kit
by UncleSmitty (5 out of 5 stars)

Nice heavy duty electric fan wiring kit. Comes complete with all you need to get your engine cooling fast. I will admit the instructions isn't the easiest to understand but with the help of Google and your tube they will assist you in wiring it up properly. I do want to add and it is a must the sensor that screws into the thermostat housing MUST be grounded in order for it to work. If it not grounded to the motor and the motor grounded to the body then it will NOT kick on and your motor will overheat. So make sure you have a good ground and you can't go wrong.
