Defective all the time!!!

I had already purchased the same exact system in dec 2017. 2 phantom gold, one dialog, one remote, and 2 smart stands. After going back and forth with the company trouble shooting nothing would ever work not even with a new replacement. After making videos and threatening to sue Ruben Garcia decided to wire me around 6,000 dollars after i returned the products. minus one speaker i couldnt find the receipt for. Now august 2018 i decided to give them more shot thinking they had probably worked out the bugs and hearing them at the apples store. Well i decided to open one speaker and play it via bluetooth to show my friends. ANd it worked great for 2 days. I started setting up the stands and dialog. The app prompted me to update and clicked ok. The softeare update didnt take and it literally damaged the speaker. The speaker now sounded distorted. I opened the second one and that one works great. I am unable to update the dialog, and the speaker not even with the ethernet cable plugged and a hard reset. Im calling aug 27, 2018 to either get everything replaced or another wire. I dont know what came over me!!! Why did i get my self into the same problem again!

Side by side comparison with Sony ht-st 7 sound bar, Phamtom Gold falls behind on the performance of high and mid and on par at low with Sony. It is interesting that the Sony Ht-st 7 has only 800W but generates way more powerful sound than the so-called 4500W Phantom gold. Playing Hotel California, you will notice immediately what I meant by that Phamtom needs improvement in the high and mid. With Sony, I can hear clearly every music instruments in the background, but not with Phantom.

Actually, the stock premium hi-fi (450W amplifier) in my car generates more powerful base and accurate sound than Phantom. Comparing it with my Onkyo home theater, Phantom is a few blocks behind, but that is not a fair comparison because my home theater has surround sound.

And the worst thing of Phantom is that it stops working randomly. It could not even wait for me to finish writing this review before it automatically disconnected itself and produced some wield robot sound before putting itself to sleep.

Simply put, Phantom is way overrated and does not worth the price tag. A Sony/Bose sound bar for about $1000 will provide better sound for your home theater, video games, music and weekend dancing party. For $3000, you can build a 7.2 channels surround sound system that will blow away Phantom.

Worst experience ever.

Works ok as a single bluetooth speaker, but put it together with a second, a dialog and a volume control and you've got the clunkiest most unrealiable, frustrating experience you can imagine -- and support is unbearable; after weeks of emails, downloading many logs, I have absolutely not one piece of useful advice from them. I'm so sick of listening to music with speakers jumping in and out that i'm ready to throw $7K of equipment out the window.

Maybe I got lemons -- but if so, they should have sent me new equipment by now and apologized profusely.

Speaker is ok if you just connect one.

can't use dialog box. You Need an internet plug to connect it ..but my house is 100% WiFi.

Also Need also a password I can't find anywhere in box. The Spark App you do need to load is full of bugs and crazy stupid.

So , I did send back amazon one speaker and dialog and shoot one star. It is Very expensive and definitely complicated to use.

do not buy for a family. It is not plug and play at all. The speaker I kept sort of unglued on one side and is making a vibrating noise now.

Look. This is is the best boom box money can buy. The size factor Vs. sound will blow you away.

You can't really tell its a mono speaker when playing, I like what they did there.

Great to play high quality music in unusual places........................that has a power outlet.

All the articles say it's the best in the world throw every thing else away, please don't.

Remember when the weird band Oasis came out, they said its the new Beatles, the press went insane with fake news like they are nowadays ......and nah, it wasn't they vacuumed. This does not vacuum but its definitely not going to replace lets say:

A Moderate system like a

Pair of B&W 683 Towers

NAD power and Preamp

SVS 12" sub woofer.

Turntable, CD player, Spotify etc

The Devialet will never beat that system mentioned above out in terms of bass and quality of sound and volume output.

The linking is a pain and its unreliable. (The reason I returned the GOLD)I checked it out with a Note 8 & 9 and it would not connect reliably every time I wanted to listen to music, tests done over a 4 day period. I had to do many resets on the speaker. The lack of anything happening indicators on the speaker is annoying too, no lights.

The Devialet app isn't any thing great either, it had similar issues. The sound is awesome for House music and other slow stuff like reggae. Throw some Animals as Leaders on it or Rock, Metal etc not as great. The sound quality drops.

I noticed then when you bump up the vol the bass decreases in an opposite linear fashion. Best sound achieved at 70 not 100.

BUT......................if you need a single connection small factor high quality sound for a garage sale, or a small BBQ at the park you obviously cannot beat the Devialet. But at $3200 with tax for it (Gold). Nah...I'll pass.

This is for some one who has cash, an apple fan boi who does not like making their own adjustments, some who who hates wires and making connections, and someone who doesn't want speakers to take up a lot of space etc. great for them, no hassle, but the app and just simply hooking up to the speaker was just not 100% reliable. When it fails it will fail when you're showing it off. If anyone has any questions, reach out. I had the gold and returned it, I took care of it, repacked it well and Amazon made no fuss, return did take a little longer than usual.

Good tech & audio, unusual bugs, disgusting support, bad business

I bought this one to check if I should go with a full house audio setup. Sound quality is great, one of the best I've heard. The only thing stopping me from getting more of them is totally disgusting support, incapable to fix anything. The only + on the support I see is that they answer to your requests at all, although suggestions they make are dumb and insulting. Also, their auto-response letter is in French, even though I was writing from English account on international website.

Software is fine, feature rich, friendly. But the bugs are disturbing, you don't expect them even on cheap 20€ Chinese crap, as they happen in areas, where an audio system from such an experienced developer should be flawless.

I have Phantom connected through Bluetooth (yes, I have). Setting sound volume on Phantom from MacBook Pro via system audio works around 50% times. If you press volume down, for example, it works once, next time it doesn't, then works again, then doesn't. At the same time, volume is set correctly and instantly if you do it in Spark application (that is connected through the same Bluetooth connection). Support said that it is perfectly, 100%-fine scenario, as Bluetooth... "is bad". Uh? Also, they suggested to move Phantom closer to computer. Derp. Well, it is 1m from computer. Next closer distance I can think of, is on top of your MacBook keyboard.

Another thing is pairing. It supposed to be able to pair with several devices. Well, it does not. Or it does. Or it does not. Yesterday I've connected Phantom to another, brand new gaming rig. It worked for a day. Today it does not. It's about the weather and/or geomagnetic storms, perhaps, because nothing else has changed, but Phantom refuses to connect or pair again.

Next: reset procedure. There are 2 different resets:
1. Press back button 3 times. That resets the pairing, I guess, because setup WiFi network does not become available. Bug? Feature? Who knows.
2. Factory reset. I need to quote this one from official documentation, as it is ridiculous. Quote:
"Power on for 7 seconds

Power off for 3 seconds

Repeat the steps above 4 times.

Phantom will move it's woofers from time to time and after 5 minutes to 1 hour, you'll hear the ambient sound and you'll be able to redo the installation." End of quote.

Eh... Excuse me? From 5 minutes to... 1 hour? You suggest me to babysit speaker that costs 1990€ for an hour, just to reset it?

Conclusion: my feelings are completely contradictory now. I have not owned any other single device, as good, and - at the same time - as bad, as Devialet Phantom.

My Phantom GOLD stopped working after 1 week keeps disconnecting

The customer support is just terrible

for 2 months they are bouncing me around.

Use a couple of BOSE S1 much better value for money.

The speaker sounds good but if you have an issue and you will have an issue the support is TERRIBLE.

I've owned this speaker system for 3 years. The best speakers I've ever owned. I also have several Bose systems. Phantom speakers with the dialogue is the purest sound I've found. You need to have some technical abilities to connect the system. Plugging the speakers into a common electrical line such as a surge protector will eliminate bugs and lost connections to WiFi or speakers cutting out intermittently. I highly recommend these speakers. While there is some effort to getting the connectivity correct, it's well worth the effort.

I have two Phantoms and a Dialog. I initially bought them to create a stereo system. The system sounds great when it's working, however the system constantly loses its connection. I have to constantly reconnect the components together using the SPARK software. SPARK is very buggy and does not work many times. It is very annoying. After the last software update, the system stopped working all together. I had to restart and reboot the system many times but it failed to work.

It's best to use the Phantom as an individual speaker using bluetooth. You will be annoyed if you try to use multiple Phantoms as a system through SPARK.

Devialet really needs to fix their software.

Only problem is when I get email or alerts it blinks the sound since I run it off iPad. That aside it's got the fullest sound ever. I am completely satisfied with it. Only problem is when to play so I don't blow others peoples ears off. Love love love it. 🤓
