Product Description

It took a year of trial and error to perfect the exact "ultrasonic welding" geometry that joins the clear plastic parts together and allows this cup to mimic the elegant shape of a pint glass. The plastic had to be engineered to handle expansion and contraction from the gel freezing as well as extreme cold and warm conditions.

Features

  • MARTINIS SHOULD ALWAYS BE SERVED CHILLED - The Host Martini Freeze cocktail glasses are engineered specifically to keep cocktails frosty and refreshing, whether shaken or stirred. No ice or dilution needed.
  • THE MAGIC IS IN THE GEL - The insulated plastic walls of these stemless martini cocktail glasses are filled with proprietary cooling gel. This works as a beverage chiller when frozen. Freeze for two hours and keep your drinks chilled for longer.
  • COMFORT-GRIP SILICONE BAND FOR EASY SIPPING - The BPA-free plastic construction creates a sturdy martini glass that works everywhere. An insulated silicone band on the base makes for comfortable handling, perfect for the outdoors! Hand wash only.
  • THE PERFECT GLASS FOR A WIDE RANGE OF CLASSIC COCKTAILS - All kinds of classic cocktail recipes stay frosty in the Host Martini Freeze. Enjoy a manhattan, cosmopolitan, or classic gin or vodka martini without watering down your quality ingredients.
  • INNOVATIVE GIFT FOR THE COCKTAIL ENTHUSIAST WHO HAS EVERYTHING - This martini glass set is perfect for dad, or any cocktail enthusiast who strives for the ideal spirit sipping experience. Perfect camping accessory!

ticking time-bombs

I kid you not, be aware of what others have shared when it comes to these cracking. when mine arrived one immediately cracked after being in the freezer for an hour. and when I mean cracked I mean gaping wounds rendering it completely useless. the thing shattered...and its plastic!

otherwise if you get lucky and get to keep yours for more than an hour then congrats, they are ticking time-bombs it seems.

I love these things and wanted to give them a 5 star rating but alas can not. They both cracked and broke in the freezer. The brief time they did work they worked great, but they didn't last for more than a few months. I thought it was the dishwasher at first so stopped washing the second one like that. I even changed they way I froze them after the first one cracked, top down vs top up. Both cracked the plastic and had to be tossed, disappointing. These would be ideal if they just didn't break, kept my martini's ice cold.

So far so good-they work

Before buying this product I read a lot of mixed reviews that I would like to respond to.
1) some complain these break easily if dropped or bumped. Yes, plastic gets brittle when cold, just be careful like you would be with glass.
2) yes, when cold materials are subject to sudden changes in temperature they might check. Use common sense and let the glass come to room temp before putting it into hot dishwater.
3) yes, plastic scratches, again use common sense and don't use a rough scrubber to wash it. I just put a drop of dish liquid and water in the glass and wash it with my hand.
4) some complained about the inner rim/ridge. I don't know how they are drinking from them because I can't tell there is a rim there. I literally had to hook my teeth and lip over the edge of the glass to feel the inner rim/ridge with my lip.
5) yes, plastic isn't as elegant as glass, but they are a very pretty contemporary design and being plastic works well for outdoor use/around a pool.

The point is, you really don't have to treat them differently, just gently-have not experienced any of the above durability problems. I have been using these about a month and have really enjoyed very cold martinis. I live in the south. It will be interesting to see if they stay frozen in our heat. I think they might make nice shrimp/crab/lobster cocktail bowls for dining alfresco. My critique: the insulation on the outside to keep your hands from getting cold could go up the glass a bit further, but who knows it might be nice to be able to chill your hands when it's hot. They do take up a moderate amount of space in the freezer, but so do most martini glasses. I would buy them again. Plan on purchasing other freezable glasses from Host.

Says dishwasher SAFE and are NOT!

False advertising. Purchased as a gift for a person who loves martinis and despises dishes. Useless gift as I created more work for this special someone to enjoy a refreshing martini. Be aware!

OK...

Well, these glasses do what they say they will do, keeping your drink cold.

I've only used them once so far, so I can't speak to the durability.

My issue is more esthetic. The gel turns cloudy when frozen, so it doesn't look clear like the photo (you can't really admire the color of your cocktail). And the proportions of the glass are "off", for me at least: the diameter is a little too large, the height is a little too low, it's a bit awkward to hold it by the silicone band (I wish the band went higher up the glass). If I had had a chance to hold this glass before purchasing, I probably would not have bought it.

These are fantastic! If cared for properly they last!

I love these!!! I love martinis but it was tough keeping them cold when we camped. I was hesitant at first after seeing some of the reviews about cracking but I gave it a shot anyway. I am so happy I bought them!!

I use them every time we camp and want to get a set for the house now too because they keep your martini so cold!

I never had an issue with them cracking when I froze them and I had even dropped them several times and had no issues. (I always hand washed them, always froze the upside down)

However....my dumb butt made an error which caused them to crack. I took them ice cold from the freezer and tossed them in fresh, super hot dish water. They cracked. But honestly that's to be expected. You can't take something ice cold freezing and change the temp that extreme. I will be ordering another set for the camper and a set for the house.

Totally worth the money, they work great and are really durable. Just make sure you care for them properly and you won't have any issues.

Definitely worth the money!!

One of the cups cracked exactly like a picture I saw from someone else

One of the cups cracked exactly like a picture I saw from someone else. at the base straight up and then two cracks above the rubber part.It happened the first time I put it in the freezer. This was a gift to my husband for Christmas. I bought ahead and now it is too late to return. I am very disappointed. If someone knows a way to return for a refund, please let me know. Don't waste your money. The crack I saw that someone else posted is a duplicate exactly of what happened to mine. It has to be a product flaw.

I really like these!

These gel lined martini glasses are so cool, literally. They are not glass though, they are plastic. They keep your martini, or whatever you're drinking, cold for quite some time. I haven't measured how long they will keep a drink cold, but long enough for me to finish mydrink, in my case a dry martini. Now if you've had a few martini's and knock your Freeze cup over, it won't break like a long stemmed martini glass will. Also, it only takes and hour or two to become frozen, and after you've consumed your drink, just place the cup in the ice tray upside down and by the time you drink your second drink, it will be frozen and ready to use again. Cheers or Salute!

I do not think this is safe and would not recommend it.

I was very excited about this since I have the wine cups. I made my martini had a sip and sat it on the cabinet while I was chopping veggies. The cup just exploded. If this had happened while I was drinking from the cup it could have been a real disaster. When contacting Amazon I asked if they had other complaints and was told they had one of the cup cracking. They gave me a full refund. I do not think this is safe and would not recommend it.

Placed in freezer and they busted. Received one already broken in package and it was replaced right away which was amazing. But after a couple of weeks in the freezer they began to crack and eventually broke apart. Trashed.
