Works very wellby David (4 out of 5 stars)

Works just as you'd think. No problems whatsoever. Fits flush next to MacBook Air and does not wobble. If you plan on keeping it as permanent storage this shouldn't be a problem, but it's a little hard to pull the microSD card back out from the adapter, but it comes out eventually. I would have given it 5 starts if it had been a little bit cheaper (there are other similar offerings that are cheaper, this is just the best looking/best functioning one) or if the silver part had been made out of aluminum (it's plastic, but looks just like the MacBook's aluminum).
Does exactly what I needed it to!

This does just exactly what I need it to do — keep a large-capacity microSD card in my MacBook as a secondary, always-present internal hard drive, without the need to reconnect it every time I reboot, and that sits flush against the edge of the machine and doesn't catch on anything when I put the computer in my bag. I love it and don't regret my purchase at all.
Not the Nifty Drive of old ...

Bought two Nifty drives (enclosures) for a non-retina MacBook Pro 13. I've used them since their Kickstarter days, but these were terrible. Tried multiple storage options, 64, 128 and 200 Gb. None worked, each drive was corrupted when used in the Nifty enclosure. I was able to fix two of three using the (large) SanDisk enclosure that shipped with the drives. I shouldn't be surprised, since the Niftys are now $2 from Amazon. The Chinese clones are just as bad. Don't waste your money, as these are not the quality products that we saw from the team in Manchester. Sadly, the end of an era.
Needs work on finish

Pretty happy with the product because it works as advertised. The only reason I'm not giving it 5-stars is because for ~$30 for a simple adapter that probably costed $2 to make, I expected the quality to be better - the silver paint on the metal part is uneven (there's are black visible spots on it). So when it's on my MacBook - I can see the imperfection of the uneven paint.
Must add accessory

I have two of these now with my two Macbook Pro Retina 15". Pair this up with the SanDisk 200 GB micro SD to maximize the space you can add to your macbook. I use this as a time machine but have also utilized it as extra space for my backup macbook. The build quality is excellent and it looks as if it fits the macbook as an OEM attachment. The price increased about $10 on my second purchase but at $40 it is still worth it to add more space to your macbook.
Perfect fit visually and functionally (plug-in once and forget)

Perfect fit visually and functionally (plug-in once and forget). Had none of the problems mentioned in other reviews, so far (about 3 weeks of use). My system is MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch (Early 2015), El Capitan. I cannot comment on other systems or other OS versions.
I never tried to take the unit out, though (it seems tough, of course, like other similar units).
My primary intention was to use this device as a second (extension) storage unit for videos, photos, audio and office documents, so I do not plan to take it out in the future either. If ever I need to use the SDcard slot with another SD card from my camera (e.g. to transfer photos), I can do it using other peripheral connections anyway (e.g. USB slots via USB adapters for SD cards).
However, be aware that my preference is not a recommended and reliable method as an alternative to backup. It's just a convenience so that your files are handy (instead of trying to reach them from an external backup hard drive/storage, whenever you need them).
By the way; Sandisk Ultra 200GB Micro SDXC UHS-I Card with Adapter - 100MB/s U1 A1 - SDSQUAR-200G-GN6MA (i.e. the RED one, NOT the prior BLACK version) is the one microSD card I am using coupled with this mini drive. It may be a perfect match so that no issues of recognition happen to me. Using other microSD card models of SanDisk or using higher capacity 256GB microSD cards may be the reason for issues mentioned in some negative reviews (if not due to OS version/software etc.)
Had issues Samsung Evo Select card
by Dude (3 out of 5 stars)

It did work but had issues with the Samsung 256 evo select card with my MacBook Pro 2014. Their customer support seems to think I got a faulty card and they said I should return it for a replacement. It works but the write speeds were slow and it froze my computer at the login screen every time I started my mac. I had to mash the keys many times just to get a letter to type. I tried my card with the included Samsung adapter and it worked perfectly.
I ended up buying the BaseQi Adapter and it works perfectly and is fast.
Sad reality has nothing to do with a promising advertising.

It's not as easy as it says. You have to make a lot of effort to insert a micro SD card into the adaptor correctly. It's too tight. Then another surprise is coming... The adapter does not want to get inserted smoothly as shown in the video. One more application of your force and then you can see the card identified by the system. If you think it's a success you are wrong. The story has a sequel called "The card disappeared from the system". Rebooting your Mac may help but only couple times. Then you understand that it's time to eject the adaptor with a card. The final chapter is called "Find a needle now!". Without a needle one cannot eject the adaptor since it's tightly stuck in the slot. 5 minutes of swearing and sweating and there you go. The adaptor is fully ejected. Now what? If you want to insert it back, leave your hope beforehand. The card is not identified by the system. Where is the savior-needle again???

Extra storage for Macbook Pro
by AlenRein (5 out of 5 stars)

Unless you are really interested in using the SD slot of your MacbookPro, this can be a really affordable solution for getting more storage. Sometimes it fails to mount, but that's an OS issue. Get a nice super fast micro card, and you're in :)
Good for mainly reading files, not much read/write operations

This is a nice idea, and slots very nicely into the macbook, but the slow write speeds of microSD cards is a real issue. You really need to pay attention and get the details on which brand you use, as the default WRITE speed is about 5Mbps, which is waaaay to slow for use in real performance.

Fits perfectly. A great way to offload a large iPhotos library from your SSD to free up space! The only downside is getting the thing out requires a paperclip, otherwise it always seems to tear up my fingernail.

I am a mobile DJ and this has worked great for me, I currently have a 400GB card and I have not had any issues. Highly recommended.
DID NOT WORK
by Ahmad B. (1 out of 5 stars)
July 25, 2016
I was really looking forward to making use of this product. When I finally got it and put it into my Macbook (Macbook Pro 13" Retina Display), it didn't work. I tried with both a 64 and 200 gigabyte micro-SD card. It didn't work both times even though both micro-SD cards were compatible and not faulty. Overall, this product disappointed me but I think mine was just faulty. Once I get a replacment, I will be sure to update my review.
Inconspicuous Capacity Increase
by Andrew Geddert (5 out of 5 stars)

This is so perfect for older Macbook Pro's that need a capacity increase. With the newer Macbook era this finds less immediate use but I have LOVED having this product for my 2015 Pro.
