I thought this would be another interesting item to add to my small collection of 'coffee paraphenalia.' What a pleasant surprise, however, to discover with the first use that I've finally found the perfect tool for making drip coffee, whether one cup at a time or a small pot -- up to a liter. By design, it enables a controlled, slow pour of heated water over the coffee grounds, allowing one to easily and gently moisten all the grounds in every corner of the filter. This has instantly become my daily 'go to' kettle for making coffee, and I am adding it to my gift-giving list. It gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up from me -- and more, if I had extra thumbs. I have no hesitation in giving it an unconditional HIGHEST RATING.

Only recently noticed that it leaks at the join of the handle to the kettle when filled above this point and flows more when heated. I had only previously used it with hot water added to it and then did the pour over. I just started heating the water in it and also found it better balanced for pouring when filled all the way up. Other than the mildly annoying water dripping onto the stove its been fine. I think its just a defect with this one rather than a design feature to release some pressure or something.

I just addressed this today by contacting Planetico.

Since it leaks at the handle level the accurate capacity is 36 oz/1.06 L not 40oz/1.2L what they state.

Their support responded same day
"If it leak only when you fill to the end, then it's okay!

Our recommendation is not to fill to the end, always leaving some space empty. "

Update- dropping another star to 3 bc the manufacturer doesn't have basic product inspection.

The Planetico Pour Over Kettle is as compelling to use as it is to see because of its bee hive design. The design makes it easy to hold with a handle that resists heat and is placed at a perfect angle from the kettle. Although it is perfect for pouring boiled water over coffee grounds in drip pots, I use it to boil water and afterward slip in my teabags to steep. Then I use it as my teapot, pouring my tea from the thin, graceful spout. Water boils in the stainless steel Planetico quicker than any tea kettle I've used. I also got the green silicon hot pad that is unique in its adaptability from small pad to a larger. It keeps my kettle near me on any surface. Highly recommend this stylish, effective kettle. It just makes me happy.

Slow pour coffee

It's very pretty. It is well balanced. I am now enjoying the flavor of slow-poured coffee.I used to use an automatic drip coffee maker with a #2 paper filter holder. I realized that I would waste less coffee if I switched to slow pour and a ceramic filter holder. for an individual cup. The steady stream of water from the long spout is part of the process. It's a nice ritual. I also switched to a Chinese porcelain cup with a lid. It's a great improvement.

A great no-spill tea kettle

This tea kettle is far and away better than the other highly rated tea kettle I bought on Amazon a year ago. That one was sloppy when pouring. This one has laser like focus of the water and NOTHING spills. Ever. The handle does get a bit hot if you use a gas flame stove but it's nothing too serious. This is easy to clean as well. HIGHLY recommend this product.

This handsome little kettle is a joy to use, as well as look at. The long, narrow spout makes for a very controllable

flow, while the handle is comfortable and cool. The lid stays Put, while pouring. Highly recommended kitchen

I bought this kettle to go with my AeroPress and Porlex coffee kit. I was going to get a Hario but reading reviews of reduced quality since manufacturing was moved from Japan to China made me go with Planetico. I'm glad I did. Quality seems excellent and it makes a slow pour into my AeroPress a breeze. Also the beauty of it's design meets the tacit approval of my wife in our kitchen.

Good Kettle

There is not a lot to say about a kettle. I have had it for a couple weeks and do not regret the purchase. It holds more than enough water for me to use some to wet the filter and warm the mug, make my coffee (one large mug 350g), and then some to pour out after I am done. My only complaint for it is the handle can get a little hot after heating on the stove. This can be remedied by heating in a different kettle and transferring water for the pour, or in my case, probably use a slightly smaller burner on the gas stove. Overall, I would recommend this kettle to anyone who is looking for something to do a pour over or wants more control in their water pour.

OK for induction cooktop and cute.

I bought this kettle for a high-end induction cooktop. The cooktop manual says use only cookware that responds to magnets. This teapot is stainless stell, but my magnet does not stick to the bottom. However it sticks to the bottom edges and the sides. It does indeed boil water. We like the look and feel of this little teapot.

It is easy to hold in my hand and use. Plus I love the spout beginning at the bottom of the pot and its small size; this makes it very easy to pour the water over small amounts of tea. Also, the pot looks really great in my kitchen - I keep it on top of my stainless steel gas cooking stove. I love the looks and the utility of its design.
