Really exciting initially then never played with againby AllergyMomma (4 out of 5 stars)

I'm torn on how to review this. When they initially get it and open it, it's soooooooo exciting and fun. Hatching it was a lot of fun! Then going through the different stages with it the first, and even second time are a lot of fun. But then that's kind of it. They haven't played with it since. It was fun for all of us immediately, but then it like, ok, it doesn't do anything different and now we're bored. I mean, the hatching is super fun and the most exciting part, but that can't be repeated.

My two girls after over 5 month wait finally was able to get their Hatchimals and they were not disappointed. I was impressed at the muti-functions these little animated toys were capable of. They speak, move, and light up. These little critters are still holding their attention much longer than their Furbys. They got them on Easter and still play with them often and it is almost June and they are still running on the batteries that came with them. I am impressed.
RIP OFF

My boys had been asking for their hatchimals for close to a year. I have a 7 & a 5 year old boy. In my opinion, these were a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. Not only did I pay roughly $60 for each one but they were supposed to be different... I even had to pay more for one and they came EXACTLY THE SAME. The same day my boys got them mixed up. One of them didn't even grow up right. So we have two... a set of twins... being unused. USELESS. Collecting dust on a shelf and I'm so angry because I think these were a marketing scam and took advantage of little children.
They're super neat to watch hatch

The Draggle is an "original" Hatchimal. Some come defected. Our's unfortunately did. However! When I called SpinMaster they were very informative and switched our Draggle out and within 2-3 business days we received a "newer version" of the Draggle. They're super neat to watch hatch. They sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY as soon as they hatch completely and you remove it from the bottom half of the egg. The Draggle DOES NOT COME WITH A "NEST" such as the "Glitter Garden" version does. But they're really cool toys and make the Furby's look pathetic! I definitely recommend them for any child! (Or even an adult!) My son wanted the blue one, but you never know exactly what color you'll get until it hatches (he got the blue one both times!) If the Draggle's sound starts to go out or you have to change the batteries rather quickly, contact SpinMaster immediately! My son has wanted one since Christmas but "Santa's workshop was running out of time to make them." My son is super stoked and loooves his "Draggle."
Fun little toy.

It was a nice christmas present for my 7 year old. It took a little bit of time for it to hatch, but he loved it.
However, after the hatching it did not take long for it to grow up. Then my son was pretty much done playing with it.
So while it is fun for a little while, not really a long term toy and worth all of that money.
Wait until the price drops before buying.
And it still wold like new. Many drops and accidental kicks

We bought this as a Christmas present in 2016. I read many accounts of them being played with for 5 minutes, then never again.
I guess all kids are different. Ours loves the thing. She carefully hatched it from its egg and a year later she still plays with it often. And it still wold like new. Many drops and accidental kicks, even a few midnight barefoot squashes by dad on the way to the kitchen. It's a good toy.
Disappointed

After MONTHS of trying to find one in stock, I was super disappointed when my son opened his Hatchimal on Christmas morning only for it to never hatch. He wanted it to come out so badly that we manually had to hatch it after 7 hours of waiting. The hatching was one of the most exciting things we wanted to see it do! Now that it's out, it doesn't do much and seems to be stuck in BABY mode. Super disappointed.
Hatching is the best part

Cute toy. I think it's over priced at $75. My daughter enjoyed watching the egg hatch; about 20 mins. She talked about the egg hatching for days afterward and wants another. The toy itself is not the best quality, I expected it to be like a furby but it's definitely not as nice or high tech. My daughter is happy with the toy but I wouldn't buy again.
Waste of money!

Don't waste money on this. Just go to a local Walmart and buy it for $50. Also my kid got bored with it after a day. It doesn't even do as much as a furby. Honestly don't waste your money on this cheap toy!

Overall, I was pleased with it. I wasn't too fond of paying 150% of the store price. But I sucked it up because they were sold out everywhere, and it was a gift for someone very important to me. That said, it is a good toy. Different "ages" that require different types of attention. And when it's "full grown", it has about half a dozen games you can play with it. I would've given it 5 stars, but the price was not the only issue. Firstly, it couldn't break out of its own egg. It tried numerous times, but the egg didn't break the whole way. And it just kept pecking at the same holes it had already made. I'm sure this is not intentional for the toy, because it sings a little song when it hatches. And it sang it numerous times (after each failed attempt to break out). Secondly, it's hard to pull these out of the egg. It was hard for me, a grown woman. It would be next to impossible for most (if not all) children. Other than these quirks, I still feel it's a great toy. Especially for someone with a vivid imagination.
