Great product - Intricate and fun to create!

My daughter LOVED this tram that we gave her for her sweet 16. Took her a few days to do, needed exactly knife to cut out the pieces as they are more like cardboard than paper. Very detailed, intricate little project that she LOVED.

Use of cheep tooth picks

Very interesting and the laser cutting was faultless, however the use of tooth picks for the axles was a very poor choice, break one and you have to take the hole thing apart to replace it. Mine never worked after assembly because of the tooth picks, I will be disassembling one last and replacing the cheep tooth picks with 1/16" drill bit That can be found here on Amazon (SE 8265HDB Drill Set - #65, 10 Pc) So if planning on purchasing this item get the bits at the same time.

I'm ready to get another!

So I've built quite a few metal earth models, when these Ugear models started popping up in my amazon searches so I had to get one. Based on reviews, this one seemed like the best one to start with. I think it's an impressive concept and I'm all about these "big kid" puzzles that don't require any glue. Mine turned out pretty good with quite a few tweaks and adjustments and I gotta say it is pretty sturdy. Here were some of my personal lessons learned:
- Nail file/wood file can come in handy when some of the connections are a little too snug.
- A tiny screw driver can also come in handy to help loosen some of the holes for the toothpicks. I actually found that I had one that was very close to the same diameter as the toothpick, but just a hair larger.
- I had 2 extra toothpicks to spare in the end, but like some other reviewers, it might be smart to have some extras.
- And lastly, albeit obvious, make sure the gears are lined up properly and the toothpicks are cut to the length as indicated in the guide. It really makes a difference when you try to wind up the gears repeatedly.

In the video I added, I winded the gear (3 teeth at a time) roughly 15 times to get the tram across the rail. I don't know if it depends on how the rubber band gets wound on the gear, but sometimes the tram FLIES across the rail and sometimes it moved at a speed similar to the product video.

All in all, I loved it and definitely recommended to puzzle lovers/engineers :)

Very much enjoyed putting this together

Very much enjoyed putting this together. Getting all the pieces out without breaking them was a little challenging. One of my pieces for the track came warped and therefore the tram wouldn't move properly. Their customer service was amazing and replaced the product right away with no hassle. Would recommend this company.

Patience is key.

Build this like a Jedi with plenty of patience and you'll be just fine. Don't force things and use plenty of wax on the gears. This is a fun kit to explore the process in assembling models like this.

Good but not

Great idea if you have no interest in it going anywhere. I followed the instructions to a T and it won't wind up properly. To say it's self-propelled is only half truth. I have to drag it across the track to get it to wind up. Doesn't work like the video. Still, it's a good display piece and conversation starter.

It is a nice concept, however
by R (2 out of 5 stars)

It is a nice concept, however, the tiny wooden pieces do not dislodge easily. The tooth-pick like pieces are too soft and most broke off during the construction and we cannot build the full set now. Considering the quality of the pieces, the product is highly overpriced and a total waste of money.

Sturdy, well designed and fun!

My fiancé spent an evening putting this together, and the result was a fully working, sturdy little (actually its a bit bigger than I thought it'd be!) train with its very own track! The punch out wooden pieces aren't at all flimsy or delicate. Will definitely be getting him more UGEARS builds as gifts!

Nice model with beautiful lines.

I like all of UGears' stuff. This one is beautiful, like the others, and was fun for me and my daughter to put together. My only reason for downgrading to 4 stars is that the operation mechanism is a little flimsy and feels as though I might break it.

I have purchased several items from UGEARS. They are all brilliant and I will keep buying from this company.
