Love the idea so we bought one. It was AWEFUL. Very difficult to set up and once set up, it leaked. Once we got all that fixed, then the software did not work. it was horrible and after two months I wanted to send it back and they said only a 30 day warranty. This company will definately go out of business, DO NOT BUY
BUYER BEWARE - Mistbox DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED

BUYER BEWARE!!!!
I'd give the Mistbox 0 stars if that were an option.
The makers of Mistbox want you to believe that the filter supplied with their gimmick will remove dissolved solids so that there won't be any mineral deposits on your air conditioner coil. Sadly, I found out within the first month that this was anything but the case.
I was really hopeful that savings would somehow make up for the mineral deposits that were building up. But, every time I checked the "Savings" tab on the Mistbox phone app it stated, "We're still gathering data to be able to show you your savings. Check back soon!" I checked back daily only to be confronted with the same message until one day I received a "Problem Indicator" on my app shortly after 30 days. At this point, the Mistbox would no longer function & the mineral deposits were quite visible on the wifi antennae, solar panel & so thick on the LCD that it was difficult to tell if there was any indicators lit or not. So, I contacted Mistbox to return this failed equipment for a full refund. Although Noemi, Mistbox Customer Happiness Lead, tried to assure me that they support their product, she refused to refund my money because I had bought their product through Amazon. All she would offer is a replacement which I clearly explained was not an option since their filter did not work as advertised. I never heard back from Mistbox customer support after I said, "May I please have a full refund or do I need to take this issue to a more public venue?"
Hope this serves as a lesson to all those are even remotely considering this product. Don't be gullable like me. DO NOT BUY THE MISTBOX!!!!!
Don't do it

This has a filter, so the nozzles don't plug. But totally dissolved solids, (calcium, lime, rust.. ) can't be filtered out. These will be left on your aluminum coils as the water evaporates and can only be removed with acid coil cleaner... Which also removes aluminum.
Many large commercial units need sprinklers placed on them in extremely hot weather just to keep them running. Mineral build up is a huge side effect so it is used as a last resort.
One more thing. If you do not have a TXV (thermostatic expansion valve) installed at your evaporator, you will most likely starve evaporator of refrigerant. Higher outdoor temperatures cause a higher pressure feeding the evaporator which gives it more capacity for a higher load. Spraying the condenser will simulate a colder outdoor temperature. Keep your condenser coils clean and this should not be necessary.
Broken software, no real ROI

I live in the valley area of NorCal.
-plenty of sunshine on my system and solar charger doesn't seem to work well. System died requiring an overnight x2 charge via an extension cord.
-iPhone app doesn't show any savings (still), even after carefully re-setting everything up multiple times over the last couple of months. Never did get through the set up via an android device and actually shipped the unit back for a return only to find out it was the app software that was the issue, not the hardware.
-filter seems to be subpar? Misting leaves everything covered in a residue and I had to buy a filter for the actual faucet (Home Depot, find their misting hardware, but a misting filter for the hose)
-no real ROI that we can see so far. I have a 3 ton A/C unit for a family of four and even with setting the thermostat at 78 with this misting unit, we still produce bills in excess of $400/month, same as without the mister.
-hardware seems to function correctly and starts/stops it's cycles on responsively, it just doesn't have much of an impact on the actual bill
-in app support is great and the owner/ceo (or someone claiming to be him) has dealt with me for support on a number of occasions.
BAD, BAD, BAD idea!

This product was obviously designed by someone who has never worked on HVAC equipment. Yes, it will work...for a few months. BUT it will destroy your AC condenser unit in the process. AC condensing units (the outdoor unit) isn't designed to be wet 24/7. Even worse, tap water contains all sorts of impurities. Lime scale, chlorine, fluorine, and other minerals/deposits will be sprayed all over the cooling fins. Eventually they'll cake & plug up the fins, severely reducing efficiency. At the same time, it's going to rust out the unit. Any energy "savings" will be offset by having to repair / replace the outdoor unit more frequently.
As others have mentioned, you also risk slugging the compressor with refrigerant if you cool the condensing coil too much. In these parts, replacing a compressor runs approx $1,500-2,000.
Buyer beware.
Not effective in humid climates
by Suwanee (3 out of 5 stars)

I don't believe the unit makes sense for anyone in a humid summer climate. There is no humidistat as part of the product, nor does the WiFi connection seem to pick up on a web-sourced humidity level either (from weather.com for example). The end result is water blowing out of the nozzles into humid air and not getting much evaporation therefore not much evaporative cooling. What you get is a lot of water making your yard soggy and/or water running into the street. I don't recommend this device in humid climates; wait for them to come out with a version that acknowledges relative humidity when deciding whether to operate in hot weather. In dry climates, I expect this unit is a home run. I also would recommend washing the fins of your outside AC unit before installing, and washing them 1-2x/year thereafter to keep the fins clean. Just doing that may be more effective than Mistbox.
Terrible product! The Mistbox DOUBLED our water bill
by Tom Nelson (1 out of 5 stars)

Terrible product! The Mistbox DOUBLED our water bill, without lowering our power bill, nor showing any signs of cooling from the water effect. There were/are no leaks, but the Mistbox seemed to run all the time, which made the water run all the time. All I ended up with was wet walls outside the house, and a junk $400 product I'm stuck with...I made the mistake of waiting past the 30-day mark in order to gauge the power bill. Guess what, water bill came first, we were shocked, and now I can't return it. BTW, the app is worthless. 33 days after installation, the app still reads "85% battery" and "100% filter," same as it did on day of install (and yes, I made sure it was correctly connected to my wireless router).
Also, they say "installation is easy." It is ... except that all of the nozzles required adjustment right out of the box. Some were so loose they were about to fall out, while some were screwed so tight it took some significant (finger) pressure to unscrew them enough for water to spray. Even so, spray was consistently uneven... some were just straight jets of water (like from a water gun), while some were a fine mist (as advertised). I have pics, and I'll post later, but right now: AMAZON, STOP SELLING THIS PRODUCT! I would also LOVE to get a refund, since I've been a Prime member for 3 years and have done literally thousands of dollars of business with you.

There is not an app available to control is as instructions say. Plastic connections continued to break and leak the first week of trying to use it.

I have got two mist boxes now and both have been broken on arrival. They were both broken on the tube ends. I hope they get it sorted out because I want to actually use it.
