I really like these slipper socksby J. Wilder (2 out of 5 stars)

I really like these slipper socks, that's why I am giving them a two stars instead of one. Hopefully this will get the manufacturer's and amazon's attention.
First off, there are actually two different editions of this product being sold. What I'll call version 1 has suede trim sewn into the sock around the suede (sole) base, while version 2 has either real or artificial workable leather around the base with an acorn stamp on the back at the heal. The other difference is that their sizes are radically different. I wear a size 9 in men's. After four exchanges, I came to learn that I fit a Small (6-7) in version 1 and a Medium in version 2 (9-10). See pictures of the size charts of versions 1 and 2 below (1 is orange).
A month after the hassle of shipping socks back and forth and finally getting my size, the stitching has come loose on the left sock. As soon as I noticed I put a drop of super glue on the last stitch so it isn't as bad as another customer's on here. Still, the manufacturers and amazon need to get it together. It's bad enough that they can't differentiate clearly between essentially two products with two size standards, but on top of that, the product comes apart under perfectly natural use. I only wear these socks walking around inside at the end of the day. They've probably been on my feet less than ten hours. It's not like I'm wearing them for soccer practice or running marathons. For all acorn's lip service to NASA and Maine, they could make them in US quality standards. We're paying US prices after all.

I had to come back to review the slippers after about a month of wearing them. Overall it is a great idea and just plain simple but ever since I bought these the stitching that holds the leather to the sock has been coming undone. So to fix this I cut and singed each string to stop it from completely unraveling but to be honest, I can't keep up. So I thought not a big deal I will make due and maybe reach out to the company if it gets worse, which it most definitely did. The actual knitting for the sock began to come undone but believing in their marketing about being the slipper for the astronauts and guaranteed quality I thought no big deal, everyone has a fluke every now and then. Here is the best part, I reached out to their customer service and explained to them what was going on and expected them to at least take the time to either ask for pictures or just replace the product.....again this was definitely not what happened. I got a cut and paste reply that said I had to email them one slipper and 5.00 dollars for the return of either my single slipper or the new pair. Once they receive the slipper they would take it and have their quality lab review whether or not it was their fault and make the decision to either send me my slipper back (on my dollar) or a new pair.So to wrap this all up, the trim in the slipper is awful and cheap leather, the customer service is useless, and the quality is junk and not backed by the company. spend 40 + on these or just go buy something at a J.C. Penny for 10 dollars and those will at least last you longer.
Double check sizing. Otherwise, great socks.

Socks (wool) are super comfortable and warm without feeling sweaty.
Ordering them was a minor hassle. For our order, the size chart Amazon provides seems a bit off for women. I am providing a pic of Acorn's chart from the actual product.
I ordered an XL pair last week for my men's size 13 feet and they fit snugly. I thought I could use a little more room so I also ordered an XXL pair but they were way too big and got returned. So, when we went to get a pair for my wife, according to Amazon's size chart, we ordered Large for her size 7.5-8.5 feet. What she got was way, way too big. We have to exchange for XSmall, which will hopefully be just right.
Once a great product.....

Yet again, another great product ruined by having it made in China.....
This is the second pair of Acorns that I have ordered. The first pair was made in the USA. They have lasted many years and finally have a hole in the knitting. So I ordered another pair to replace them.
What a disappointment.
The size of the foot is the same as my existing pair. However, when I try to put them on the knitted part is so small and tight that I can't even get the sock up to my heel. I think I could force it up but I am afraid it would either tear the knitting or it would be so tight it would be uncomfortable.
I think I could go up to the next size but then the foot would be over sized.
The leather sole is a lot thinner when I compared it to my existing pair.
So narrow that they look like they're not made correctly.

Much too small & weirdly narrow. I have owned several other pairs of Acorn socks and was trying to buy a pair to replace the current ones. I have a 10 1/2 EEEE foot, and my old pair was an X-Large that fit pretty well. Bought a new pair in X-Large and they were so small that I couldn't get them on my feet. Returned them & bought a pair of XX-Large. They were also so narrow that I could barely get them on, and the shaft of the sock, on an XX-Large pair, would barely fit over by ankle. Yes, I admit my feet and legs ARE large, but what the heck?! I've never had this trouble with Acorn socks before. The old ones fit fine, but the new ones are so narrow they look like they're made to fit over the feet of horses, not humans.
Also, had to go through the seller, ShoeBuy.com, rather than Amazon, to return them.
Sock shaft too small

The shaft of the sock is way too small. My wife is 125lb with skinny ankles and she could hardly even get these on. Once they were on her big toe kept hitting the edge where the suede and sock meet and it was extremely uncomfortable. She has had the MukLuk Morty slipper socks for years and these were supposed to replace them. She liked that the Acorns have a suede bottom which is more durable than the faux suede soles on the MukLuks. But comfort outweighs all.
Dye leaches out onto carpet

Great slipper, but unfortunately I returned as the orange dye on the sole of the slipper will leach out if you step in water, say in your kitchen or bathroom and then gets tracked onto carpet or tile. It STAINS - its a dye. This needs to be sealed somehow. I have another pair of older acorns that is regular leather and works great - why open dyed suede, guys??
Is this a joke slipper?

Bought size large (men's 9-10) this past year for my husband for Christmas. These are not made to fit a human being unless it is a severely skinny person with very very long feet. The feet are too big for him but the ankles are so narrow he can't put them on, and my husband is actually very lean, he teaches martial arts for a living 6 days a week. I don't believe I've ever seen a person in my entire life who simultaneously has long enough feet combined with skinny enough legs to fit these slippers. For a laugh we got our skinniest female friend to try them on and she could just barely squeeze her legs into them. I think she described it as "squeezing her skin off of her legs" or something like that, and then of course the feet were comically huge for her because she is so petite. We never got around to returning them and I just found them last night and remembered the whole incident. I tried to fit my forearm inside them but could not fit much past the wrist because they were too tight and I had a good laugh. I think I might cut them up and use the pieces to patch his old slippers that actually fit. To be fair we actually got a lot of laughs out of the product so it wasn't a total waste. Buy them as a joke or save your money.
Complete piece of crap. I had a pair of these made by ...

Complete piece of crap. I had a pair of these made by Acorn, probably back when they were still USA-made. These look like they were made by aliens that don't really know what a human foot looks like. The upper sock part was too narrow to even get over the lower half of my calf. Since I never was able to fully put one on I can't be sure, but the foot portion was sewn way too narrow - looks more like a slipper for a piece of bacon than a foot. Waste of money and time. Acorn, if you're reading this, STOP making useless crap in China. Will never buy from this manufacturer again. Returned with extreme prejudice!
Stitching came apart on two pairs in a row

I have been wearing Acorn Ragg Wool slipper socks for almost 50 years and have always been impressed with their consistent high quality workmanship and durability. I wear them around the house on a daily basis and a pair will usually last me a couple of years. I bought a replacement pair from Amazon on December 12, 2016. After about two weeks of wear, the stitching along the sides started unraveling, where the leather sole attaches to the sock. I figured that this was a fluke and re-stitched it back together, but the repair didn't hold and the stitching continued to unravel and pull out half way around the sole. On February 22, 2017 I bought another pair from Amazon and they just have started coming apart again, in the same way as the last pair. (photo attached) They are now past the return date and I probably couldn't return them anyway, because of a stain. I assume that these aren't knock-offs as the quality of the materials, leather, wool, etc., appear to be of the same good quality, but there is something definitely wrong with the workmanship of the side stitching. I think that Amazon should pull their inventory of this item and not sell any more until the quality issues have been resolved. The slipper sox are manufactured in China.
