*New Premium Plan Charges for Basic Functionsby Elizabeth Tapper (1 out of 5 stars)

After less then a month of owning it, I get a notification that they will be charging for the "premium functions". The only basic functions that I will still get are the live feed and the treat dispenser. Which arent the best video quality to begin with. But the person alert, barking alert, selfie alert, are now part of the premium package which they just announced they will be rolling out and charging Furbo customers for.
I am returning my Furbo as I find it ridiculous to have to pay every month for the basic functions that the Furbo is supposed to offer.

As the proud owner of a lovely 9 week old pup... I am stuck with the separation anxiety. I want to know how he is doing and reassure myself that I will not receive any complaints from surrounding condos. The app blows. I cannot get it to connect most of the time... despite the lighting system showing it is connected. If I unplug the system and try it works for one round then doesn't... super helpful for $200+. Now when I first got the device and uploaded updates etc... it tells me that I can have access to "premium feature" that are "free for now"... motion detection, etc.... who pays for their camera to work!? Are you kidding me? That is a premium function?!? I can get a $20 camera that doesn't launch treats, but offers more functionality and reliability than the Furbo and it's terrible software/premium functions. My expectations were for the device to work... not only does it not work, they want to charge you to use the device in the future... get out of here!!!
****1+ Year Update****
Ok... I was to lazy to repackage and send Furbo back. I kept it, against my better judgement. Pros: connectivity is much better... it's a camera that launches treats, Realistically, you won't use treat launcher. Cons: you officially have to have a premium membership to get alerts and use the Furbo to it's "full potential." My English Bulldog is still a pup in my eyes, a full year later, and I still get sad leaving him every morning. With this being said, I liked being alerted when our dog walker came to take him on his mid-day stroll around the city. No longer do I have this luxury, because I refuse to subscribe to my own camera... just to use my stupid Furbo. Full disclosure... if the premium features were included (which I had expected the functionality was included in original price) I would raise my rating. The fact that I had to purchase, navigate the bugs, reset my password several times, and be asked to provide a card to account to use functions... still crazy to me.
I've learned my dog is even lazier than I thought...

I love being able to watch my pug literally just sleeping for seven hours a day and my coworkers really enjoy the constant updates of me telling them where my pug is sleeping and forcing them to watch his small, fawn body laying in the same spot. I have learned that my cat must leave the house when I go to work because I never catch her on the camera. Maybe she has a job? It would be nice if she paid some rent. The treat shooting mechanism shoots small treats, which is fine for him, well maybe not for him because he'd prefer it shot pizza slices, but they're the proper size treats for a smaller dog. A larger dog would need the treats launched at them more often. The launching mechanism does make a motorised sound that might scare some dogs, though mine doesn't hear it at all and also doesn't notice when the treats fly in his direction, he finds them later as if they appeared. Just remember to turn the camera off through the app when you get home because nothing is worse than accidentally opening the app and seeing yourself blobbing on the sofa.

I like it when it works. But lots of times I have issues with it. Sometimes the app freezes or it has trouble connecting. Ill have to restart the app to get it to connect. I tried reinstalling the app and still had problems. The bark detector often goes off for other noises. Like if I cough, or for some reason it goes off if I shut a window to loudly. I think it needs to be fine tuned a bit to be a better product. the night vision camera has trouble adjusting as well. at 200$ I thought I was disappointed. now they have a new feature coming out that notifies you when your dog is active and a couple other things. I thought that sounded like a cool little update until I realized it would be a premium subscription fee service. no thanks. maybe fix the product before trying to get more money
Perfect for my GF overseas!

I bought this item for my girlfriend who is deployed overseas in Bahrain. She loves her dog more than anything so I knew this would be a perfect gift for her. The first night I had the Furbo I was awaken several times in the middle of the night by high pitched squealing and giggling of glee from my gf not being able to contain herself. She was so excited to see him, talk to him and give him treats and OH BOY does she like giving him treats! By the time she gets back from her deployment I am sure he will be overweight and wont be able to run to her when she gets home. Thanks Furbo, your product is awesome and we all love it!

First, let me say that once you get it working, it seems to work well. The key is getting it working. Read reviews here and particularly on the app.
During set up, I had trouble with connecting bluetooth initially to get it set up. I restarted set up and bluetooth a couple times and had to go back to factory settings on the Furbo before I finally go the first part setup. Then I tried the app and it crashed every time. Restarted my phone and still crash. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and it stopped crashing initially. I had to reset the Wifi on the Furbo again at least once too. After all of these resets, reboots, reloads, I finally got the thing working.
There are basically no instructions, they rely on the app for all of that and when it crashed like it did me, it wasn't much help. Thankfully, I know things to try. The really disappointing thing is to read the app reviews (which I didn't before purchasing) knowing how long this product has been around and seeing all of the issues it still has with set up. It looks like they need some people to work on the software side of things.
The lack of troubleshooting for set up and difficulty with set up are a 2 star drop for sure. Once I got it working, it does work as advertised. The picture quality is good and it has a good wide angle view. The sound it makes when tossing treats surely gets a dog's attention. It's funny to see what dogs do when you aren't right there with them and how they respond to your voice even though they aren't quite sure where it is coming from.
I am not sure I would necessarily recommend this to friends and family with the set up issues right now. I'd recommend doing research and if it's something you want or need, just be prepared for some issues in setting it up.
Best pet related purchase I've made

Best pet related purchase I've made!!! Furbo sends your phone alerts when your dog is barking or when their are loud noises in your house- i.e. when your CO detector is going off! Saved my dog's life!
terrible app and poor customer support- don't waste your money.

The app never worked on my phone. I tried it on my iPad and it still never connected to the camera. I contacted the company numerous times and every response was the same one line "we're sorry we're really busy but we'll get to you soon," I eventually gave up and returned it because I was so angry at the huge waste of money.
I was really sad about this not working. It looked nice and is a great idea but just didn't work at all. On a whim I bought a petcube bite camera and it is a million times better than the furbo! I had it up and running in 5 minutes and my dogs LOVE it.
Just by a nest and throw your dog a bone before you leave.

Liked it at first but these things ha e really added up.... Picture is very digital. Hard time staying connected to WiFi when we are away where my nest cameras have no issues. Can't really tell the difference between people talking and a barking dog.... nest rarely confuses the two. No "home" and "away" sensors to know that you're home and stop sending you activity notifications... would ha e to manually turn camera on and off from device or phone. Treat option is nice when it works. We ordered the recommended treats and it either throws none or 5. Usually the sound of the device ejecting the treat scares the dog enough to wake her up or make her nervous to go by it no matter how hard we try to get her used to it. -- and "Smart Alerts is currently in free trial with Cloud Recording and a daily Doggie Diary, and will later become a paid subscription service. It's an OPTIONAL service, so you may still see, talk, toss treats, and receive Barking Alerts even without a subscription," - just came out with a 90 day trail where "by the end of the trail" they'll tell you how much it is.
I had Furbo for a few weeks, but I found better options! Don't believe the hype.

The Furbo is an interactive dog camera with a connected app that lets you see, talk, and give treats to your dog when you're away. It's also on "Amazon's Choice" list and backed by celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres who showcased the product on her television show. This is why it's probably the #1 Best Seller in pet cameras. I bought into the hype, as many other pet owners have, and tested it out for a few weeks. Ultimately, I found myself disappointed with the Furbo as the functionalities didn't perform to the level I had expected.
To start off, the Furbo device was boxed and packaged very nicely. I felt like I had purchased a very well-made product. It was very easy to download the app on my phone, connect to the Furbo, and have it all up-and-running within a few minutes. I was able to test out the camera and the treat dispenser immediately after setup.
The camera does look great in 1080p high-definition, but it also takes considerable time to load every single time you open the app. This is where my frustration started kicking in. Even swiping away from the camera briefly and going back in, the app would take the same amount of time to reload the camera. I have very high-speed internet, so I know the network was not the issue in this case. Also, a lot of the times, the camera itself would fail when loading, so I would need to retry multiple times.
There is an option to speak through the camera speaker "walkie talkie" style, but there is no option to simultaneously talk and listen like a regular video chat that we are all used to (like a Skype, FaceTime, or Google Hangouts). They really hide this fact in the marketing material. This is 2018; c'mon Furbo! The speaker itself is very poorly designed and sounds more like white noise rather than a real voice. Your pet will be super confused. The device itself feels cheap and doesn't seem like it would last long.
After frustrated with the camera loading times, camera connectivity, and the two-way radio style communication, I was ready to look for other options. This is not a cheap product (starts at $249, but on sale at Amazon.com for $134.99), and I expect the products I buy to have great value. Unfortunately, the Furbo does not come close to the asking price. I viewed its main competitor, and it was the Petcube Bites. This is also on the Amazon's Choice listing for Pet Cameras. The Petcube Bites also starts at $249 and is currently on sale for $179. Although it's a bit more expensive than the Furbo, it's A LOT better in every way. It DOES have simultaneous audio communication. The app is much faster and doesn't take a long time to load the camera. The treat dispenser has variable distances it can throw the treat if needed. The device itself is much higher quality, and it holds even more treats at a time. Sometimes the "Best Selling" isn't always the best product. Do your research, and avoid the Furbo. It's not a bad product, but there are better devices for similar prices.
