Would not hold air. Did not activate regularly when I followed the turn and hold the ball on its ends for two seconds experiment.

We Got It Connected But It Is Still Terrible - Don't be fooled by positive non-verified reviews.

I was fooled by the non-verified customer reviews. This football is terrible. We were able to get it connected to the iPhone, but half of the time it doesn't read the data. When it does read the data, everytime we threw a pass, it said there was a holding penalty and charged us 10 yards. Total rip-off. Also, the football is rock hard and hurts your hands to catch it. I wish I had noticed that ALL of the reviews were from the "Vine customer review of a free product". Only on Christmas Day did two actual reviews from people who bought the item to actually use appear - they were also one star. We are returning it today.

POOR QUALITY--AWESOME CONCEPT

Awesome concept that I hope Wilson figures out. The first ball I received was flat. I assumed it was shipped deflated and went about inflating it. It quickly became apparent that a large hole in the seam of the ball (just beneath laces) was leaking badly. The ball held zero pressure. Assuming a lemon, i quickly requested another replacement ball and returned the first.
2nd ball: The 2nd ball arrived quickly (thanks Amazon) and inflated properly (initially). We set it up and stepped outside for a few tosses. What an awesome ball!.... or so we thought... Two days later, we head to the field for some drills, open the bag and.... It's flat. Same type of leak (just under laces) WILL NOT HOLD PRESSURE.
Contacted Amazon for replacement. They refused to send it to me. Here is there response: "Hello,
I'm sorry to hear the replacement ball had the same problem as your first order. This usually doesn't happen.
Since it's likely another replacement would arrive damaged, I won't trouble you with another replacement."
I never said the 2nd ball was damaged on arrival. Just that it was defective in the EXACT SAME WAY AS THE 1st BALL. Maybe someone should contact Wilson and let them know?
Great once I returned it and received a new one

Great once I returned it and received a new one. The 1st one would not stay aired up. My kid loves it.

This product didn't work, we were unable to ever get the blue tooth in the ball to connect with our iPhone.
Awesome football, terrible security practices

I've been using this football for a little bit now to see if I can get a feeling for how it differs from a normal one. Honestly, it feels the same as any other football which is really cool considering what additional features it adds.
The packaging was nice on the outside with a little window that opens up to the ball. Inside of the window though the little pamphlet telling you to download the app from the itunes store or the google play one. In addition to the ball there was also a cool armband that has a little slot for your phone to keep it safe while you play. Not sure if I really would trust my phone on my arm if I'm playing football but I've been lucky with a tough case and keeping it in my back pocket so far. Still it's really cool if you're outside throwing passes to a friend and want to see how you're doing on the app (I'd imagine, I can't download it right now as it's unavailable).
I've since had a chance to try out the app. The UX is pretty terrible for the sign up flow especially for the birthdate field. You're required to enter a birthdate but they don't allow you to enter the different sections individually. For example, if your birthdate was 03/01/1899 you would have to enter 03011899 there. It's just really odd considering how much effort went into the software.
The software is cool though. It was like 120 MB I think downloading it off the Google store. It tells you about what it tracks, gives some games to help track items, and helps you orient yourself with the football. It's all voice driven which was a nice surprise as I'd probably have just skipped it if it was text.
As for the ball itself I have had the most trouble trying to get this thing to see I have flipped the ball to wake it. I think it may be because I'm not doing it quick enough? Either way it's an odd way to wake up the ball and do syncing, etc. I wish they had some sort of alternative. I guess they didn't want any part of the ball to need to be depressed in potentially affecting the throw. Get used to hearing that voice tell you to flip the ball over and over again for a minute while you figure it out if you're like me.
It's neat how they give you an Wilson X score as well. I haven't had a chance to go to a park yet to try this thing out in more depth but it seemed to be working when I was testing out the games here in my home. It's really cool -- looking forward to seeing my X score.
I'm giving the product 2 stars because they send passwords in plaintext emails to you after login. They should be hashing these passwords with a strong hashing algorithm like bcrypt and not displaying them anywhere let alone sending them over unencrypted channels such as via SMTP without encryption. I've lost some confidence in the security of Wilson's systems as a result. I always use unique passwords myself but I think this is a serious issue as many people will end up reusing passwords across their web presences. I would not recommend this product to others because of this.
Pricey, but in certain circumstances the price could be worth it.

Sadly I'm not a professional quarterback so this football is almost entirely wasted on me. The general premise here is pretty cool and the ability to monitor all sorts of various throw data could really be useful in training of professional or semi-professional athletes. For the average consumer however I personally don't think the price tag is worth the product. Don't get me wrong, it's a great football, and my app worked as expected, but paying 200 dollars for something that has limited use and then will just be a regular football is just too much for me to swallow. My only other real gripe for this football is the app. While it does work reasonably well, it is pretty slow. The worst part however is that you have to make an account for Wilson to even use the app, that just rubs me the wrong way.
Pros:
+ Its a Bluetooth football
+ very nice high quality ball, it doesn't feel any different than a normal ball
+ The app works and does what it says it will
Cons:
- Once the battery is dead, then it's done
- You have to make an account with Wilson to even use the app
- App is a little slow to respond
Notes:
* The ball comes with a wrist sleeve for holding your phone, a nice idea because checking your pocket all the time is annoying. Sadly it doesn't fit my rather large phone. If you have a phone pushing near the 6 inch range, it may not fit.
