Designed to allow for maximum legroom and elevate the level of convenience for airplane travelers, The Airhook uses the tray table in its vertical locked position as an anchor, rather than horizontally as a platform. • Hold an airline cup or cans & bottles (up to 16 ounces) with the included attachment
  • Adjustable angle for reclined seats and a better device viewing posture

Airline pilot here, you are better off with duct tape and velcro!
by CHRISTOPHER L COLCORD (1 out of 5 stars)

I'm an airline pilot, and I bought this for when my company has me deadhead, like I am right now. Let me give you a little insight into why you should not buy this product, and why you should return it if you have purchased it.

The design is flimsier than a prize from a Cracker Jack box. I had a half of a grande latte in it and when I just tried to put my iPhone in the holder on the back, the entire assembly came off the tray table and soaked my uniform pants, my seat, my shoes, and my flight bag.

The design lacks any capability to stay on a tray table and it is so poor that if you want to have a drink in the holder and watch your iPhone, the screen will be almost completely blocked. If you have an iPad or a tablet, be prepared for up to half of your screen to be blocked by a grande from Starbucks.

The attachment for your phone or iPad is so atrociously designed that when you try to anchor your phone or tablet into the device, as it is described on the pamphlet they send you, it will pull back so hard on the device that it will then launch it free from the base and into your drink, or if you have no drink, right into your lap or onto the airplane floor.

I'm outraged at how flimsy this product is as well. There is no permanent fixture that holds your drink in place. Instead you get two pieces of plastic that spin around each other at a joint, and you have to put these little tiny 3mm size knobs into little tiny holes in order to attach the drink holder to the base. Problem is though that is takes very little pressure to cause your hot drink to be in your lap and possibly leaving you embarrassed with a stain in your lap. Thank you CER Tech Corp for leaving me in this predicament.

Wish one of your team members were here now so I could pour the rest of my hot beverage all over your lap. RETURNING!!!

The biggest outrage of all is that they sell this garbage for almost $30. It's not worth 50 cents.

I really want to like it but..

This is a well thought out product but it falls short in quality and functionality.

I bought this to help cope with an 8 hour plan ride to Europe. The idea that I can use my own device and not touch the airlines unclean monitors was a big selling point. The drink holder was an added bonus. I found from using it that the quaility was not that great. It's flimsy and feels kinda cheap. This device is entirely dependent on the seat in front of you in that you can NOT adjust the angle of the airhook if the seat in front of you decides to tilt itself down. This left me having to look at my device very awkwardly. Granted it does have a knob which allows you to adjust the angle of viewing but it was not at all helpful. A device can only be tilted back so far when it's already pressed against the seat.

I'm attaching pictures to show what it looked like on my plane ride. Sits too low, not a great viewing angle, flimsy in quality. 3 stars for a well thought out product but not well executed.

Works Really Well
by Alsand (5 out of 5 stars)

I'm not usually an early adopter, but I have been looking for something like this for a while. I'm more than a little rotund (#300) around the middle and I can't normally get a standard airplane tray table down. Even on short trips, that leaves me with nowhere to put a drink; I have to hold it the whole time I'm drinking it, unless the seat next to me is open and I can use that tray. More and more flights I fly are near full.
90% of the flights I take are on Alaska Air, 2-3 hours, 737-800/900s. So, I mostly just need somewhere to put a drink, not a food tray. So... on these planes this thing works and works well. Look at the pictures I posted. It held the drink and my 10.5" tablet securely. It made using the tablet much easier.

The cup holder folding attachment is a bit of a pain and could snap in more securely. I did feel I needed to remove it when someone in my aisle got out, but if I had a drink on a tray table I would have to fold that up and hold my drink too. Once it is locked at the right angle, it's quick and easy to take it down and put it up again.

I had a steward and stewardess remark about it and wonder why they didn't invent it.

This holder works well for me. I hope their next product is a tray table for horizontally challenged people like me.

Limited utility - tool limited on natural tilt of upright seats

I fly a lot for my work. A LOT. I was excited about this item. I was hopeful. Unfortunately it quickly lost its spot in my backpack.

Does NOT hold an regular iPad well. Holds a large mobile phone really well.

The killer for it was that for many tray tables the natural lean of the seats makes the Airhook not valuable. Seats in many planes have padding that extends past the lip of the tray table, making it useless.

Not worth a damn

If there was something good to say about this product I would say it here. There is nothing to say good about it.

The very first flight My 8" Samsung tablet fell off 3 or4 times and hit the floor. I wasn't sure if the cup holder would work or not. I decided not to test it. I seriously thought about just leaving it behind on the plane.

The idea is good and needed, but this cheaply constructed item is not worth the space in a travel bag.

Good for tablet, not for drinks
by KTS in Chicago (4 out of 5 stars)

I used this for the first time last night on a 3 hour flight on United. The plane was the new kind where there is a slot above the tray table that holds the airline's magazine, etc., and a small net below it that is the seatback pocket for the passenger's use. On these planes, the tray table isn't absolutely straight on top where it locks. Even so, it was easy to get the Air Hook connected up.

I agree with the previous reviewer that it feels a bit flimsy, but it was strong enough to hold my 8 inch Kindle Fire without any noticeable wobble. I liked that the screen on my Kindle was now at eye level. It was so much more comfortable than looking down. I wish the drink holder was removable as it didn't work out too well for me and I wouldn't trust it again. I set my cup of water in the holder after taking a few sips. It was not more than 75% full. Moments later the person in front of me adjusted her seat position and the water in the cup sloshed all over my lap. So I spent the rest of the flight with cold, wet shorts. If it had been hot coffee or some sticky beverage or alcohol, it would have been way worse. If you get one of these, I would suggest trying the drink holder with a cup of water first if you try it at all.

Works as expected, a bit fiddly but still better than the alternatives
by Alan B (4 out of 5 stars)

Works as expected, a bit fiddly but still better than the alternatives. I find the cup holder to be less used, but for holding tablets it is handy.

Hint: I end up having to twist the elastic quit a bit to get enough tension to hold the tablet in landscape mode. If yours is too lose you can try that if you don't want to try to shorten the elastic permanently.

There are also certain seats that the angle does not allow the tablet to sit in the groove. For those I tilt the cup holder up quite a bit, and then allow the tablet to sit in the V made by the cup holder and the mount.

The Airhook stops me from slumping over to read my devices in flight...
by maria (4 out of 5 stars)

Feb 24 update: the air hook did not work on one flight on American Eagle Canadair/ Bombardier Regional jet 700 - even though it did on an earlier flight on the same aircraft. It must be because the tray table didn't fit flush enough against the seat back ... removing one star from my earlier review ...
@@@. I travel a lot - both long and short haul. I would always try to prop up my iPad on the tray tables with something (a sweater, a book...) so I didn't have to scrunch over the whole flight while reading or watching a movie. So when I read about the Airhook in November, I immediately ordered it. Like another reviewer, I was surprised there were no reviews on Amazon at the time, and even now there are few...

So - my first ever Amazon review. The Airhook is terrific. I use it to hold either my mini iPad or my large iPhone - at just about eye level. And I can sit back fully in my seat, with the seat supporting my head. Sooooo much more comfortable. And I can cross my legs if I choose to do so. My husband had to loosen up the 'joints' a bit - they were so tight on arrival that I thought a part was missing. The bungee thing works okay - my devices have not fallen unless someone bumps it (a flight attendant did yesterday). I haven't tried the cup holder yet. It looks secure but I don't think I'd trust hot coffee. And I can only get the cup holder's separate four-pronged attachment to fit on securely about 50 percent of the time. I think I must just need to practice...

I note one reviewer said he couldn't fit it on one or two tray tables. On my Airhook's 'maiden voyage' I thought that was the case, but it was just my lack of familiarity in attaching the Airhook. It's worked on two different airlines, both US domestic flights, so far.

I used to live in Asia, where many airlines have had great seat back entertainment systems, even in economy class, for years. I am happy I can approximate that experience here now with the Airhook and a downloaded Netflix movie or two.

Great idea, terrible execution

First flight on Delta didn't work. Tray table apparently wasn't tight enough, not sure why the design doesn't have an adjustment to account for this. The tray was tight enough to remain closed but the airhook hooking portion wouldn't stay in. Maybe my return flight will have better luck but if it fails again I give up as I try to only fly Delta for the miles.

Good Idea but Not Worth It
by Jo G (1 out of 5 stars)
December 28, 2017

A good concept but didn't work like we thought. Our tablet kept falling throughout the flight and because of that we didn't put any drinks in the cup holder. It didn't stay on the tray table while it was closed as it kept sliding (worse if the person in front of you moved a lot). If your tray table is down, you won't have anywhere to put it. We felt it was kinda expensive for its purpose but we figured we'd give it a try. Sadly, it wasn't worth it and returned it.
