Buyer Beware

I have a lot of rechargeable batteries so I thought this would be perfect to charge the batteries and store them. Previously I was using a nice 6 battery charger (that I've since gone back to).

I have a battery tester that tells me how much charge a battery has. After charging all of my batteries in this charger, I tried to use some of the batteries. The device that I put the batteries in showed only about 50%, so I pulled the batteries out and tested them. The batteries were between 50 and 60% charged. I tested all of my batteries (that were charged with this charger) and they were all just above 50% charged. Some may have been near 80% charged. One battery had no charge at all. It may be worth noting that I have a number of different rechargeable batteries, but most are amazon and eneloop.

I decided to test the charger by charging a few in my old charger and the rest in the new one. I put the battery with zero charge and a few others in the old charger (which I highly recommend btw), and ran the others through this charger. Once they were all finished I tested each of them Again, the ones from this charger were not even more than 80% charged. Many didn't seem to have any extra charge at all. The ones from my old charger were all 100% charged - they took longer to charge, but it was worth it.

In short, this thing is a neat idea that doesn't work at all. Do yourself a favor and buy something else. If you do buy one of these - pay the $10 for a tester to see if it even charges your batteries.

Ok but questions remain.

Mixed. It comes with a European-style plug so I had to use a travel adapter in order to use it here in the US (some reviews I've seen said there was one in the box, but not in the one I received).

It charges batteries in a very strange way. First, it only takes in the order of tens of minutes even when the batteries appear totally empty, which is suspicious. Also, it seems like it charges with a very high current, the batteries are really hot after charging (way more than with a regular charger). So hot it makes me worried about fire hazards. Finally, it only takes AA format so you can charge AA batteries but only with adapters (it came with 4 adapters).

On the plus side, it is convenient if you have a lot of batteries to charge..which is the main point of the device in the first place.
