Got it as part of the Kickstarter campaign, it was already pretty expensive then but now it's more
by Jimmy Chan (1 out of 5 stars)

My girlfriend got this as part of the Kickstarter campaign and it was already pretty expensive back then, around $300 I believe. I definitely would not pay that much again based off of its issues nor would I pay the currently listed price on Amazon again. Better idea to get a suitcase from a more well-known brand for sure.

PROS:
- Packing is generally pretty easy, it is roomy and fits a good amount. It also uses space very well since the wheels don't take much room away from the luggage space.
- Telescoping handle is definitely a pro. I am 6'2" and it adjusts to my height, my girlfriend is 5'6 ish and we can both use it easily.
- Large wheels make it easy to roll, especially up stairs and on bumpy surfaces (cobblestones) just as advertised.

CONS:
- The locks suck, that would be the TLDR version. Basically we used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a Europe trip, I set the lock and when my girlfriend came to packing the night before our trip, the lock got stuck and would not release. She tried resetting it and it didn't release so she had to go to the local airport and get TSA to help her open it, basically it was defective. When she contacted G-RO support that was the only thing they were capable of advising her as well so she ended up having to rush to the airport the morning of the flight to ask someone from TSA to help her. However TSA has no protocol for this assistance so you basically have to wait until some officer is free and available to help you. She talked to at least 3 people before they were able to help her, not to mention the fact that she spent 1.5hrs total waiting for help, and the $10 in airport parking. After that 1.5hrs we were able to get a TSA person to grab their universal keys and open the lock. WE ARE NOW AFRAID TO USE THIS LOCK. We still took it on our trip but used our own key locks so as not to have to deal with this situation again.
- Putting things in the front pocket can prevent the luggage from fitting in the measurement box at Delta and British Airways. We had to repack our stuff last minute at the check-in counter because it no longer fit.
- The expansion zipper will also prevent the luggage from fitting into the box at Delta and British Airways. See bullet point above.
- It is on the larger side so it might not fit in a lot of international flights as a carry-on.
- We have found that having 4 360 degree rolling wheels might be easier to handle than these larger wheels since they do only travel in 1 direction, but that can be a pro or con depending upon your usage.
- Suiter we got as a garment bag was pretty cheap and not great quality, I agree with other reviews that described it as a glorified dry cleaning bag.
- Also as previous reviews have stated, bag falls over really easily, especially when you place a bag on top of it (even with the bag straps wrapped around the telescopic handle). It actually fell on a guy behind us in line for customs at the Heathrow airport because my girlfriend let go of the handle for 1 second.

Granted it was an experimental project through Kickstarter, we would definitely not pay this much for a luggage from an unknown company again, it's just more trouble than it's worth. There is literally ZERO SUPPORT available for you should something go wrong. In most cases, this would happen with the lock (since there's not much else that could go wrong with a suitcase that has never been used) so WE GOT A SUITCASE WITH A DEFECTIVE LOCK FOR $300.

Road Warrior, Worst Case I've Ever Owned
by Evelyn (1 out of 5 stars)
August 24, 2017

I purchased this luggage as part of the Kickstarter campaign. I was really excited when it arrived but I quickly came to realize this is one of the worst carry-on bags I've ever had....and unfortunately the most expensive. I used it on 5 separate 2-5 day business trips before relegating it to the back of the closet and buying a cheap and highly functional 4 wheel hard sided lightweight clamshell style case instead.

I have three major issues with this bag --
1. The first is that it always falls over. Empty, full, carefully loaded, with or without the battery pack i just can't get this bag to stay upright. Seems like a very basic carry-on bag function - yet every time i let go of the handle I've got to prop it against something -- Terribly inconvenient when rushing through a crowded airport- imagine reaching for your phone, pausing to pull up your boarding pass, and there goes the bag again falling on the person in front of you in line....
2. It's HEAVY. Even without the battery packs, cables, tracker etc the bag just does not make my cut. I should have know when purchasing since I typically prefer the simplest lightest carry-on - just not for me.
3. Hard to pack. The bag tapers just enough towards the bottom both in Width and Depth to make packing annoying, not impossible but yes annoying , it's not easy folding shirts in to neat trapezoids - if you are a road warrior like me anything that adds to the pain of traveling even just a tiny bit won't do.

I've also never really been able to use the tracker much... my original one was broken and somehow with all the calling and complaining I ended up with two replacement units. Neither of the two new ones work all the time and really...who needs this...maybe for checked luggage...but for a carry-on you can't let go of....no not really

A Different take on Carry-on Luggage
by Barredbard (4 out of 5 stars)
May 21, 2017

I like gadgets, and I am forever nervous that on any given trip, I might forget my endless peripherals: a USB proprietary charger for my old iPod, a USB proprietary lightening charger for my newer iPad, a generic USB charger for my Samsung Galaxy Note phone, my Lenovo laptop DC cord, my Fitbit proprietary USB charger etc. Not to mention a portable battery bank for desperate times. When I saw the G-RO campaign on Indiegogo I was immediately interested particularly because it offered a solid charging solution for my gizmos. I waited for it to be released; I prefer purchasing from Amazon for any variety of reasons. It took a long time for it to make its way to retail, and even longer still for me to bite the bullet and pay the rather steep price. After receiving it, I waited until after using it (my first trip was to Alpharetta, Georgia) before writing this review.

The Good: It is a handsome piece of luggage, with its deep black fabrics, telescoping handle and wide wheels. I opted for the "stealth" black, with the red wheels. "Stealth" just means that the silver telescoping handle is muted to black. The bag appears to be quite well made, and is roomy on the inside. It is ideal for a 3-7 day trip. The features that I like the best are: TSA approved locks that effectively lock both the main compartment and the laptop/electronics compartment (so no padlocks necessary); side mesh pockets for socks and underwear, a double-sided mesh divider that can separate shoes from clothing and can house one or two dress shirts susceptible to wrinkling, and yet another mesh zippered compartment that I use for storing dirty clothes. The telescoping handle is long and feels sturdy. And it fit just fine in the overhead bin of my Spirit Airlines flight. And if it fit on that flight, it would fit on any other. The ability to charge any USB-powered device merely by plugging it into a designated USB flap is the height of convenience. The wide wheels are a good bonus; these are stiff to begin with, then later roll more freely with use.

The Bad: I was aghast when it arrived without the 23,000 mAh G-RO power pack, which is one of the main reasons I had wanted the bag. It is sold separately for another $95. Sure, a user could find a different power bank, but few on the market has such a large capacity, and few will have all of its adapters and accoutrements that ensures that it can charge just about anything. The tracker is also sold separately for $70. I was going to save up and buy that as well, until I discovered that it required a monthly subscription after 6 months. The subscription was quite ill-advised. Most people are causal travelers, and it would make little sense to pay month after month for tracking luggage even whilst they remain cooling their heels at the home base. The telescoping handle was wider than conventional, making it difficult to slide my backpack over it with the intended pocket. The front laptop flap is riddled with a bevy of pockets, none of them labelled; a good way to lose things by hiding them too well. The Spirit Airline attendant looked at it dubiously when I told her that it was a carryon. Apparently it looked larger than conventional. The wheel clearance is quite close to the luggage itself, limiting its advantage.

Conclusion: The bag is well made and sturdy, and incorporates conveniences that other luggage omit. But these features do not quite justify the hefty price tag. I have no regrets with the purchase; I needed a piece of luggage that could go beyond a couple of days, but not quite as far as 2 weeks. And that's squarely where the G-RO fits.

Handle Broken on the First Trip!!
by Melanie Perez (1 out of 5 stars)
December 17, 2018

Super disappointed in the quality of the bag. The handle broke off on my first trip!! I was hoping the price point was because it was good quality, but I guess not. When reading more reviews now I see this is an on-going problem with this bag. Extremely disappointing!!

Good carry-on, but not perfect and overpriced for what it is
by Jafetica888 (3 out of 5 stars)

A lot of good ideas, but far from the perfect carry-on:

I like:
- look & feel of the big wheels
- stable handles
- details of the many pockets and storage areas, especially on the backside in between the handle

I don't like:
- it is not maximizing space. okay in height and width, but the depth only extends in the center and thus the suitcase gets a big belly rather than becoming a big square
- when filling up the main compartment, the center pushes against the space where the computer goes and risks to bend the screen
- wheels don't turn super-easy, maybe it is dirt getting into the system (only used it three trips so far, so I don't think so), but it is not super-smooth as one would hope for

Would be quite happy for say $175-$200, but at $400 there is better stuff out there

The handle on the G-RO broke on the first trip ...
by Luis (1 out of 5 stars)

The handle on the G-RO broke on the first trip I used it on 3 weeks ago. The suitcase is not stable when it's sitting upright and while I was standing at security it tipped over. The extendable handle got bent as a result and now it won't retract.

Very disappointing product.

Promising so far, but maybe the jury is still out.
by Empty Mirror (4 out of 5 stars)
September 28, 2017

Perhaps a little early to post a review after only a month.

I bought it because my work often involves me hauling heavy files across London's broken pavements and kerbs. I've been using conventional wheeled suitcases or trolley style suitcases but their little wheels just aren't up to the job, and after one particularly annoying day when the little wheels on my suitcase snapped - with a journey right across London to complete and some heavy document bundles to carry - I invested in the G-RO. I bought all black as it seemed the least "in your face" about its design, and that was a good choice - no one in the conservative legal world where I move has so much as noticed the bigger wheels or commented, which is the result I wanted. If you want comments, go with silver on the wheels!

It seems well made and robust, and the wheels so far are up to the job. So, a cautious thumbs up. I say "cautious" because the time to make a judgement will be in a couple of years - it it lasts that long with the use I give it then it's well worth the extra expense over a conventional bag. But if it only does a month or two more before the wheels break then not so good. I'll try to remember to post again with an update. But, it feels well made, and robust, so I'm optimistic.

On the downside it's not as big as I hoped (one lever arch file plus a spare set of clothes for the evening in the hotel is a struggle in practice, if not on the youtube videos of people packing it). And the zips are a tad stiff, though maybe they'll ease up. But the biggest downsize is the weight. Heavy! Even empty, before I start adding files. My wife says she'd never be able to take it anywhere as it's just too heavy to lift.

So, no five stars, at least yet. Mainly because of the weight. But, I bought it to do a job - taking document files across London. If it does that, I'm happy. And so far the indications are that it may.

For those who travel and seek for design & efficiency... you simply can't go wrong with a G-RO.

For those who travel and seek for design & efficiency... you simply can't go wrong with a G-RO. Very compact but they used every trick to make very spacey & efficient.

Definitely not a cheap product but G-RO already lowered their pricing from $449 last year to $399 this year .... & $349 during Black Friday week. But it is definitely worth every $ for avid travelers and design aficionados! I am traveling every week .... and not one trip without someone commenting positively on it!

PS: G-RO, pls keep your pricing high so your product remain exclusive! :)

Great style and solid value.

Like Most: style and ease of pulling through airports. Like Least: it's just a smidge smaller than boxier suitcases and on very long trips those few cubic inches are missed.
