Best reusable bag
by Megan A. (5 out of 5 stars)

I've tried a LOT of reusable bags as there are a lot of options out there all using a variety of materials. The fabric ones just get gross over time. The vinyl ones are hard to clean and aren't usually dishwasher safe. There are other silicone one that need a separate rod to close them that you can easily lose. This one is the most simple and easy to use. No separate pieces to lose. Can withstand any temperature/microwave/dishwasher/whatever. And if they get gunky they are very easy to clean and I trust that they aren't hiding gross crumbs in any of the crevices. My only complaint is the cost - they are the most expensive and I wish they offered a bulk discount. If they were cheaper I would use them for EVERYTHING (open cheese in cheese drawer, all snacks on the go, etc)

Useless
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

Just got my order of Stashers. What a disappointment. You cannot use them for sandwiches. I read the caveats about the size precluding Italian rolls, large sandwiches...mine was a simple turkey sandwich. Could not get it in the bag, and if I had, it would have come apart and been a mess. And it would never have come out in one piece. So. I don't know how the New York Times Wirecutter came up with its recommendation, but this is a completely useless product.

Does not seal properly
by Sigma (1 out of 5 stars)
August 14, 2018

I received the product today and before using it , I decided to check the seal.

I filled the bag with 2 cups of water , sealed it , turned it over : the seal broke and the water spilled all over.

I repeated the experiment again 3 times , making sure to perfectly seal it , but sill , the seal won't hold the water. Slight pressure on the bag , and the seal gets wide open.

If this is the design - don't buy this product , it will disappoint you and cause actual damage !

Can't be used for anything with liquid! I can't imagine what will happen if you try to freeze some pasta sauce or other liquid content. All the content of the bag is guaranteed to spill inside your freezer and creat one giant mess.

UPDATED REVIEW - 06/07/17 (1 star)

I am so disappointed to say that I had to throw these pouches out. I had been putting them through the dishwasher and then letting them air dry inside out. But I realized one day as I was packing my son's school lunch that the inside corners are growing mold! I've attached a picture of it. It's impossible to clean in these side crevices, so I ended up throwing all of the pouches away. Such a waste, and I'm sad because I genuinely loved these.

ORIGINAL REVIEW - 12/03/16 (5 stars)

We've been using reusable snack bags for a while now. We have a couple sets of Art of Lunch Designer Reusable Sandwich and Snack Bag by Danny Ivan (Portugal), Set of 3 - Pass This On and a few sets of Itzy Ritzy Snack Happens Mini Reusable Snack and Everything Bag, Fresh Bloom, Mini
. I like both brands--though they each have their pros and cons. (I don't like Art of Lunch's zippers, but I like the thinner, lighter material they are made of. Itzy Ritzy's have great zippers and I like the extra lining, but they take forever to dry.)

I wasn't sure if I would like these Stasher silicone bags--mostly because I was worried they would be bulky or smell chemical-y or leak or be difficult to clean. But, actually, the bags are great! I have two of the bigger size and two of the smaller. The bigger size is, well, big. You can see from the attached pictures that they take up a lot of precious real estate in my son's Wildkin Green Camo Lunch Box
. But the bags are still soft enough to squish around (and even bend), so they've actually been fine.

The bags are completely sealed when closed. No juice--from, say, a few squished grapes--leaks out. I've even packed salami slices in the smaller bags, thinking maybe the stink would be hard to get out, but it wasn't. I just run the bags through the dishwasher when my son comes home from school and they are good as new.

The only slight drawback is that I usually have to manually dry the bags once they get out of the dishwasher. They will eventually dry on their own if I just set them out to air dry, but they don't stay open easily, so it takes longer. I usually end up drying them with a paper towel. But that's a minor complaint. I still am really happy with the bags overall.

Seriously flawed design for sous vide use, or simple cleaning.
by Sam (1 out of 5 stars)

Do NOT purchase this product for sous vide.

I originally purchased this product because it was advertised by Anova as a really good tool for sous vide. I used it once and got a rip in the product and promptly returned.

The design isn't that bad, it's slightly small but for single serving use it's generally ok. The seal seemed to hold well except that there is no satisfying sound or feel when you've sealed it, so you kind of just keep guessing to see if you got it.

The real problem is that the point at which the bag closes is not reinforced at all. I took out my food and then went to the sink to wash out the inside and just putting a sponge in there and wiping was enough force to rip where the two sides join. I've had a LOT of silicone products in the past, none of them were made this poorly that they would just break on first use. I would get it if you cut it and it kept tearing, but this is a common point where opening and closing would put pressure on it.

If you're using it in a way where you can easily ensure the bag is clean with a rinse or other simple method this might be ok, but if you need to clean to get oils out it will probably rip sooner rather than later. Maybe someday this will work for what you want it to, but right now it's just waiting to be converted to some useless silicone in your kitchen.

I ordered these because I felt like I was blowing through way too many Ziploc bags
by Lexie (4 out of 5 stars)

I ordered these because I felt like I was blowing through way too many Ziploc bags. This is a nice alternative if you store a lot of pre-cut vegetables, leftovers, or small snacks for lunches. I really like these because the zipper works surprisingly well & I really feel like it does a great job of keeping food airtight. The volume inside isn't great, but as mentioned before, it's good if you're storing pre-cut vegetables or some leftovers. To give you an idea of the volume in one bag, if I cut up an entire head of purple cabbage, it takes me four of these bags to store all of the cabbage if I'm not stuffing it in the bag. I've only had them for a month or so now, but already feel like my plastic bag consumption has gone way down. Both a money saver & a bonus for the environment!

The only downside to these it that they are hard to clean & dry once they are cleaned. Yes you can put them in the dishwasher, but they take up a lot of space on the top rack if you try to completely open them so water actually gets inside to clean it out. I've found hand washing them is much quicker. Getting them to dry is another chore. They don't want to stay open on their own, so the water that gets inside doesn't really dry up unless you rig up a stand that will keep them held open while drying.

Overall, I really recommend these products because they are a great alternative to traditional disposable plastic bags. Just be wary that they are somewhat of a chore to clean & dry.

Stasher bags are so convenient and Ecco Friendly... why wouldn't you want to have some?!
by Kindle Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

Suuuuuch a GREAT product!!! I have 3 of them. So happy not to rely on wasteful disposable baggies anymore. I still ziplock on hand but go through so much less of them now that I have these reusable silicone Stashers. The guilt I used to have throwing away a sandwhich baggie I used for a few hours is gone!

To clean: I find it easiest to turn it inside out and put it in the dishwasher.

Tip: I find the trick with these sorts of reusable items (reusable grocery bags, non disposable travel cutlery etc) is to have a few on hand. If you only buy one... if it gets dirty, you're more likely to go back to your old ways and grab a plastic baggie. Keep several in constant rotation!

I also use the different colors to easily identify items we use often.

Clear = my snacks

Orange = my daughters dried mango

Blue = my daughters rice cracker snacks.

So convenient!

This is a very nice product, well built and designed for the purpose
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

As soon as I got this in the mail, I used it to pack my snacks and lunch for a roadtrip to my parents' home. My only regret with that decision is that I didn't bring both on my trip so I can use it more while I'm away!

This is a very nice product, well built and designed for the purpose. I was initially sceptic of the sealing mechanism which seemed kind of flimsy on some review videos despite the product's claim to be very secure. This doubt quickly blew out the window as I actually struggled when I tried to open and close it the first time. I learned how to open it properly after that, but the seal is definitely impressive.

I don't have a dishwasher in my apartment, so I have to clean everything by hand. This bag is super easy to clean. I was afraid that the slim opening and the product's rigidity would make it difficult to get to the inner corners of the bag, but I was pleasantly surprised when everything came off clean so easily. Another bonus: the bag dries really fast.

Any downsides I can imagine people struggling with is the slim opening of the bag. I personally don't have a problem with this as I always make my food and snacks in thin, cut pieces, but those of you intending to bring five whole apples for a picnic might want to opt for a regular bag or lunch box. I'm not saying it's entirely impossible, just highly improbable and will probably be preceded by great effort and struggle. Also, some people might not love the feel of the material used by Stasher. I'm not one of those people as I find the texture very satisfying to hold and work with, but it is a sturdier and thicker form of silicone than what's usually seen in the market. It's probably why they're so durable in the first place.

Overall I am planning on repurchasing this product. I only beought the medium sized one and I have my eyes set on the snack sizes.

Looks Can Be Deceiving
by Alex G. (1 out of 5 stars)

This is a great looking silicone bag...online. In reality upon receiving it we were surprised that it was really thin and at the edges of the top the silicone it started to rip upon inspection. Also, after closing the bag up and barely touching it to check the air tightness, it popped open like a balloon with ease. We were very disappointed and I would not recommend it to anyone, even if it looks great...online.

Amazing idea! Keep my frozen bananas in them when ...
by Sasha (5 out of 5 stars)

Amazing idea! Keep my frozen bananas in them when they start to go bad. The freezer disposable bags used to freezer-burn them. These reusuable bags keep these from getting freezer burned and they taste amazing in my smoothies. Easy to close too! I need 100 more! I love this color, however I think I would lean towards clear since if I have multiple in the freezer, it's easier to see what's in them.
