Warning: product may entertain husband and children for hours, leaving you with previously unprecedented time to yourself. If you're considering going back to school, starting a business, or just need some peace and quiet (in every room but the one where this is set up), this is the perfect product to make sure you will not be bothered in your endeavors or lack thereof.

Negative side effects may include but are not limited to: your adult-ish husband pacing by the door and checking your amazon incessantly for days in anticipation of the console's arrival, said adult giggling like a child upon product delivery, and hysterical whining by children and adults alike when you finally pull the power cord.

DO NOT PAY MORE THAN RETAIL FOR THIS ITEM. $79.99 is all you should need to pay. Wait for lightning deals to pop up and they will. I bought this item and received the SNES classic just after Christmas. I've been playing it since.

The unit itself is tiny, it's smaller than a paperback book. It has short controller cords but I replaced the controller with a wireless one that is pretty much identical to the stock controllers except you can get out to the home screen easily by pressing "down" and "Select". Otherwise you need to get up and hit the reset switch on the unit itself, bah.

It has a bunch of great games, all your classic favorites. Earthbound is what I'm currently playing. You can save your game position and rewind through your last few minutes of gameplay and restart from the rewound position so if you make a mistake you can correct it. It makes things a little bit easier. These games are often uncompromising in their difficulty and it helps when you're playing as an adult who might not have the ultra-fast reflexes of a sugar-hyped preteen.

It's great as a nostalgia device but also for people like me who didn't have an SNES as a kid, these are great games in their own right.

It took me a while to figure out how the suspend points (basically a new way of saving your current game state APART from whatever save game system the original cartridge would have had, extremely useful as an adult who may have to go and take a phone call instead of waiting for an in-game save point) work. It seems like you actually get four of them PER GAME, not four total, which is extremely useful.

Also, it runs off of USB power. So I've got the whole rig running out of the controller port on my PS3, thus creating the Human Centipede of Game Consoles.

About 20 years ago I sold my SNES collection. The system wouldn't last forever. Dunno what can break this thing. HDMI, bright colors, great games, easy set up. Started Zelda Link to the Past and was reminded of the pleasure I experienced about 27 years ago. I have a Gamecube with more complex visuals that do NOT stand up to these simpler ones that look terrific on a 39" LED TV. The controls and gameplay are an absolute pleasure. One warning: the controller length is short. I have mine plugged into a 39" LED 1080p Vizio used as a computer monitor so I need no extensions. You may have to build into the price any extension necessary. I will be checking wireless options for use in other room. I think the cable is about 4 feet long. But for nostalgia fans and those who have not experienced the fun of these amazing games? Do not wait. Buy it.

Only 21 games, no expandability without hacking and pirating

SNES is my favorite game platform, but this product falls short as it comes out of the box. There are only 21 games, and while there are a lot of good games here (including rare ones like Earthbound and the unreleased StarFox 2), it's missing a LOT of important games like Donkey Kong Country 2 (this omission boggles my brain), Pilotwings, Super Bomberman 3, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario All-Stars. You're better off just buying a clone system that does HDMI and used games if you don't want to pirate (this is what I actually ended up doing). It's a fun thing to have in my collection, but it would have been a lot more useful if it took cartridges.

You can rewind!

The super nes classic is everything you love and remember just in a smaller package. The controllers are sturdy and same size as the originals so there's no concern of them being miniaturized like the console. The unit itself is nice and small, it's compact enough to fit just about anywhere. It has one power button and one reset button. The reset button allows you to return back to the main menu where you can either select another game or use the my favorite feature rewind. You can actually rewind 10 sec or so and restart progress. I cannot tell you how handy this is in some tough situations. I consider myself fairy good a video games but there has been numerous times I've made a simple mistake or died on a tough boss (moldorm-legend of Zelda) and was able to back track my mistake with the flip of a switch. I don't have too many issues with this system, it's a great purchase. Maybe in the future they can make longer cords for the controllers but all in all it's fantastic. You will love spending hours replaying all of your favorites :)

My kids love this gaming system

My kids love this gaming system. They are 6 and 2 years of age. My two year old can do very little on it and doesn't understand the point but he gets excited and has fun pushing the buttons. My six year old girl is enjoying it a lot and can play for hours. I feel like these game systems are much better for hand and eye coordination than a tablet ever will be.

It came in the right box and is the right gaming system. I would definitely recommend this system to my friends with kids.

Being a 90s kid, I enjoyed the Nintendo consoles (NES, SNES, N64...) and getting my hands on one of these. The controllers are good quality, and the games are fun to play. A lot of the games selected are 2 players which are a plus for those who want to play with others. Definitely a 5 out of 5 for quality build and packaging and a 4 out of 5 on game selection.

Let me start off by saying that I purchased this on day one through Amazon's Treasure Truck. The SNES Classic Edition provides the perfect Super Nintendo experience by packing in 21 games and "TWO" authentic SNES Controllers. Games can be saved, paused, and it even includes a rewind feature that lets you undo your mistakes. The bad thing I would say is that there is no way to back out into the game selection menu without hitting the reset button. The bottom line, I highly recommend this retro console as it's truly amazing and a great collectors item.
