Product Description

The game is simple! Each player brings one or two beers to the game, keeping their identities hidden. Unlabeled is played one round at a time. Each round, a small portion of "unlabeled" beer is served. Players taste the beer and ATTEMPT TO IDENTIFY THE BEER'S CHARACTERISTICS, GENERAL BEER CATEGORY, OR SPECIFIC BEER TYPE. The label is revealed and points are awarded. Next round! Points are awarded based on your accuracy to identify the "unlabeled" beer... Earn 1 point for identifying a simple beer characteristic (ALE OR LAGER?). Earn 2 points for identifying the beer's general category (PORTER OR STOUT?). Earn 3 points for identifying the specific beer type (OATMEAL STOUT OR IRISH STOUT?). Earn maximum points for identifying the EXACT NAME AND BREWERY. Careful! Push your luck too far and you could score zero! PLAY AT HOME OR AT THE BAR! Ask for an unlabeled flight and give your Beer ID Sheet to the server. Grab some beers, gather your friends, and put your taste buds to the test!

People Matter

You have to play with people that know something about beer. The people I played with really didn't know what they were talking about.

It also doesn't have every style. We had and English Ale and Nut Brown Ale, and they aren't on there. We had a beer that was a pale wheat ale, and that exact choice isn't on there. We decided to make pale ales, and wheat ales correct, so this is not an all encompassing game.

The last flaw I would say is that someone has to sit out every turn. If you brought a beer, you know what it is. If you play, you give it away.

Here is what I love about this game:
1. Even beer connoisseur's get stumped in this game and it is hilarious you will also see some who know nothing about beer but guess correctly.
2. Lots of laughs
3. When you have people over for occasions, it's the perfect way to break the ice by playing this game to get to know those around you! You might be 22 years old and have nothing in common with your great uncle but this game gets everyone talking and having a good time.
4. I would never want to play cards against humanity with my parents or their friends. With this game you don't have to worry about inappropriate topics coming up - all about beer!!
5. You drink beer.
6. Way more fun than beer pong.
7. You mature your beer palette and get smarter about beer each time.

If you want a drinking game that isn't juvenile or random, this is your game.

I played this with seven other people last weekend and it was a solid time. The game is designed incredibly well both aesthetically and the game play. I enjoyed the psychological aspect of it and when it was my turn to make a guess, should I follow the crowd and play it safe or take a gamble on something else? New beers and old friends are a great combination.

fun game for small groups
by Tim (5 out of 5 stars)
September 7, 2018

This is a fun game for small groups. i bought it from the original Kickstarter and have used it many times. i enjoy it because it is different every time (people bring different beers). This should be in breweries across the country.

A couple of suggestions.
1. It should come with beer label blinders/covers (Koozies or something). although this is tough because beers come in different shapes and sizes.
2. There should be a modified rule where you can play with "blind" guesses. That is each player must make their guess blind from all the other players... this will prevent the "me too"/"follow the crowd" strategy many players end up using.
3. I wish there was a way to modify the board game to exchange beer styles in/out.

I enjoy this game a lot

I enjoy this game a lot. I'm much more of a PBR/Busch Light drinker, but I can still play it. It helps me learn the craft beers too, so I can impress my family. Plus, you can totally stump those craft brew aficionados with your MGD64!! The game last as long as there are mystery beers, so from 1 to 10 beers (or more...but...things'll get silly).
