Subtle manufacturing defect

I discovered an easily-missed defect in the first unit I received, so I made this video to explain it. If your unit is under-performing (i.e. takes FOREVER to charge in sunlight), this may be the reason!

Pretty good charger with bad cable

I recently took this charger on a week long camping trip so I gave it a good trial. Overall, I like this solar charger. It gives a good bang for buck at 10,000 mAh while keeping the package portable enough for backpacking. My primary issue with this unit is the cable that comes with it. I absolutely love the cable design--one single cable has usb on one end and micro usb on the other end for charging the power bank or an attached adapter which slips over the micro usb for a lightning connector. So many of these chargers have separate cables for charging the device and then another cable for either android or apple. So what's the problem you ask...well the cable, after only two days of use, became intermittent. It is so frustrating to have to wiggle a wire to get it to charge your phone and then pray to Tesla that it stays connected overnight when you are counting on your phone for the next day. I'm able to get around the issue by using my own apple cable for charging my phone but it completely negates the benefit of the single cable provided. Their customer service seems like good people but their response to my cable failing after two days of use was they will work on improving the quality of the cable. That's fine and dandy, but I believe they should offer to replace the cable since it failed so quickly. So would I recommend this solar charger?? Maybe?? It's still usable but with caveats and the price is right.

Also, you should be aware that if you drain the charger, solar (even with perfect conditions) will not recharge in one day given the smaller solar cells. I realized that beforehand and I am fine with it, but it's something potential customers should absolutely be aware of.

Great Quality

The solar panels work great! Having 4 makes all the difference. I can charge my phone (Motorola Droid Turbo) with 1 solid bar and solar panels out. The pack itself can charge both my phone and my wife's phone (LG G4) and power our bluetooth speaker (Which has a dead battery) all day.

It works so well that my wife (who didn't see the need for this thing in the first place) has basically claimed ownership of this charger.

The charger can disconnect from the solar panels, which reduces the bulk SIGNIFICANTLY, basically cutting the size in half.

If you are torn between this or one of those packs with the SINGLE solar panel on the back, just buy this one. The single solar panel on the back can "technically" charge the pack, but over the span of several days (depending on the mAh capacity)

Good way to think about it:

If you buy a 2000mAh capacity battery pack that has ONE 200mAh solar panel, it will take 10 hours of PERFECT DIRECT sunlight to charge it to full capacity. However, we know that not everything works perfectly at spec, so that means it may take a "fuzz" longer.

This pack was 10000mAh with 800mAh(4 panels at 200mAh). = 12.5 hours of PERFECT DIRECT sunlight to charge to full capacity. However, we know it would take longer since things are not always working perfectly, just like the other example.

Anyways, for someone like me who intends to use solar a bunch since power is not always available where I am, this has been a good solution.

Terrible solar charger

If you want a solar charger as versus an AC plug-in charger, do not get this one. Even the instruction manual said to charge with an AC plug-in and that the solar panel charger part was only for a back up. Once the battery pack was charged, it didn't even charge my iPhone very well - it took hours and hours to charge it.

The description on Amazon did not mention anything about it being mainly for use with an AC plug-in.

Worst product in this line of products I've purchased. This is the third one I've tried.

Arrived a little late due to USPS, but now that I have it I'm very impressed. The unit itself is more attractive than the photos give it credit. Solid construction with a satisfying heft. Clean lines and seams. Everyone at my workplace seems to want one. My only complaint is the usb/micro/lightning adapter. Worked for all the first day then seemed to develope a short and won't charge my device or the battery. Luckily I always have cords on hand and the battery itself works exactly as advertised.

I used this charger on a week long camping trip on the island of Kauai. It rained every day and the solar panels did get wet but, I wouldn't go as far to say that they were submerged in water. Plus, I kept the battery compartment covered in my pack to prevent water from wetting the actual battery. So, I would say that it is "water resistant" and not "water proof." If you're going to use this to charge your iPhone, I recommend using your own cable vs the one provided. The cable included is not very good. Overall, this solar phone charger is a good investment for the price. It kept my iPhone charged all week with no issues.

Emergency backup power for phones or IPods

I gave this to my Dad for his birthday. He liked that it can charge his phone several times before needing to be charged by the sun or AC. He really likes the fact that it can be charging while he is kayaking or hiking. The small size and foldable solar panels make it easy to pack without adding a lot of weight. Perfect for a survival bag.

They either sent me a used or defective unit. Opened it last night and put on wall charger overnight. Will not take a charge. Power button does not work and flashlight is stuck on. Casing is pulling apart and there is a melted spot on the back of the casing. I feel like it was previously owned and they tried (and failed) to refurbish it. Very disappointing

With summer here we're often gone all day at various events. My phone battery doesn't last with all the pictures I take of my kids. Outlets aren't always accessible. That's where this is great. My phone was at 20% battery and went to 90% in an hour. Now I don't need to worry about conserving my battery when out all day.

After receiving my product I got this disappointing email that kinda tells you this product is chity. Kinda funny when u buy a solar device not made to be in the sun, That has 2 be pre charged b4 solar charged
