Great idea, poorly engineered.

If you own a TouchBar MacBook Pro, don't waste your money if you own one. The front pads (display side) are too large, thus they actually obstruct the screen and also place too much pressure on the display itself probably causing display damage eventually. I that being said, the pads are perfectly sized for an older generation Retina MacBook Pro or 2nd Gen Unibody Macbook pro since their screen bezel (border) is wider. Seriously TenOne, this is marketed for the Touchbar Macbook Pro, which has been out for over a year; this kind of design flaw should have been fixed; possibly by making the display side pads narrower and longer.

The idea is great, it's very easy to use, and generally the design is fine. I spent a long time looking to create a second screen for my laptop. I thought this, combined with Duet app and an iPad in my case, was perfect. Small enough to keep in your bag/backpack, without having to purchase a dedicated screen beyond the ones you already use. It comes with a variety of rubber feet thicknesses, so it will likely fit your combination of tablet and computer.

The problem is the materials. The plastic used on the feet (which attach to each screen) is too cheap and too thin to last. Mine broke after three months of light use. I was willing to to pay $30, but for that price it should be much sturdier. I understand why for Ten One plastic would be preferable to metal (minimizes the possibility of scratches...and its cheaper to manufacture), but in this case the frame that holds the rubber pads against the devices needs to be much stronger to last.

Takeway? Great idea, but the company needs to start thinking more long term and less like a Silicon Valley startup. The profits will come when they make a better, longer lasting product--not by jacking up the price of an inadequate design and then hoping we'll just keep buying a new one whenever they break. Besides, now I've got yet another piece of plastic waste in a world already drowning in it.

worked will with ipad pro and macbook pro retina

I noticed a lot of negative reviews so I needed to add my positive review. I have used this mount for an iPad Pro 10.5" and now iPad Pro 12.9" (2018 edition). For me there is a little too much pressure on the MacBook Pro screeen. I am using the proper pads. The screen distortion kind of goes away. I am concerned about the effects long term. Sometimes I don't put the pads all the way onto the screen but instead only on the 1/4" black border (trying to minimize the pressure and future damage). With all that said, it is the best product out there to mount an iPad (or similar screen) to the side of your MacBook. I have not had any poor plastic issues. If you feel the pads are too tight contact the manufacturer and they will send you replacements. For me it is ok. I would like it to apply a little less pressure to the screen...but then I also don't want it to fall off...so there is a difficult compromise to be made.

Perfect for attaching my Surface (surface book clipboard) to my laptop. I love how they included SEVERAL different pads to accommodate many thicknesses of tablets. It is super secure, and there is no other tablet mount like this (especially in aesthetics- it minimises the amount of it that you see, unlike other mounts). It was clearly designed very thoughtfully and is very high quality (both in the product and its packaging). While I wish it were less expensive, I feel like I definitely got what I paid for!
1-day shipping instead of $5 shipping from the website is a plus too!

Caused pressure point on the Ipad Pro 12" screen.

The concept is good. Unfortunately, it does not work for my setup of iPad pro 12" and MacBook Air. It caused pressure points onto my iPad Screen even trying all three padding provided in the instruction. Almost damage my iPad screen permanently, however, the MacBook air's end works fine. So I decided to return my order.

Disappointing. Wanted to add my old Ipdad as an additional screen to my new Surface Pro. It's already quite tricky to actually use the Mountie on the Surface Pro as the pro seems to be to thick. However with some patience it actually works. Neverheless it is very disappointing that the Mountie doesn't hold the Ipad. It always slips out of the hold after a couple of seconds. Have tried all kind of combinations of pads but it just doesn't work. Can't recommend the product. Would probable just use a seprate stand to hold the Ipad instead.

Broke before use. / second one didnt work

Easy to use? Maybe. But the second I attempted to apply the grip, the damn platic broke. I,didnt even get to clamp it to a device, jist lifted the gray handle.

Update.

I was able to return the broken one and got a replacement sent the next day. I tried my ipad4, ipad Air, and ipad pro and NONE of them would hold. I tried several combinations of the rubber pads and none produced a firm grip. The ipad slipped out. I wont even mention the laptop screen. Being a thin notebook, it wont clip on with the slimmest of pads(still too thick). I fear it will break if I try.

End result, got sent a dry rotted one, then a second and was able to product test with several devices and nothing held. So disappointed in this product. I wish I could rate less than a 1 star.

I bought this product a month ago to clip my second laptop screen to my macbook pro. The product is fantastic, I use it every day, but for the price it shouldn't be falling apart already. The top pad connected to the mac side (with the extra screen on the right) came off this morning, glue just gave up. Now it slipping after a few hours. I am going to buy another because this is still the best option I've found, hoping it doesn't happen again.

Great idea, poorly executed, does not work with ANY type of case on your device

I thought this would work for my phone and tablet, but alas, it does not. If you have ANY sort of case on your device, even the slimmest TPU case, this still does not fit, even with the smallest replacement rubber pad/grips that it ships with. The 'jaw' portion of the device is too narrow to fit the phone or tablet into the it, and that's even before using the little clamp to tighten it down.

Very unfortunate, because it had real potential. I just can't keep removing my device from its case every morning, noon and night to attach to this clip/clamp.

If you do NOT use a case for your device, this probably would work great. But who doesn't use a case on their expensive mobile devices these days, especially when they cost upwards of $500 to $1,000+ each?

Bought two, one for me and one for my daughter, she loves it because now she can watch her youtube video while working on her Mac. However, I will suggest to maybe give some instructions on how to add to the Mac with covers / protectors. Thanks.
