Bulky and cutouts do not align well and interface freezes from use of this caseby MR A. (2 out of 5 stars)

I have been using cases from this brand for a long time, but only for iPhones. I like those iPhone cases & would give them solid 4 stars. So I decided to invest into iPad cover too. I did not enjoy the experience. I used it for two month and REALLY tried to like it!
Super bulky case that doesn't even fit well... cut outs for buttons and speakers do not align well. You would like to increase or decrease sound? Good luck with that! You would like to charge you iPad? Struggle for 2-3 minutes to put the cable in! You want to use interface successfully? Guess what it freezes sometimes, no reason, but works perfectly out of the case. You want to take a photo? Well this last one is a joke, i was unable to take one successful photo with this case, NOT ONE!!! I tried to like this case but ultimately went with different one. It looks nice... ish if you are into aged leather kind of thing (I am), but with all the other problems do you really even want to look at it?..
... owned several Twelve South products in the past and liked them much more than I like this case

I've owned several Twelve South products in the past and liked them much more than I like this case. It says that it is for the 12.9" iPad Pro but the mine hardly fits and none of the holes for the buttons really line up. Especially bad is the hole for the synch cable and the volume buttons. I'd always wished that 12 south would change how my iPad attached to the case. I find it kind of clumsy, you have to pull the pleather out of the way to swipe up to adjust brightness, take photos, etc. This one, the pleather doesn't lay flat either. The reason I bought this case is because I was having difficulties finding one I really liked and the one I had for my mini was pretty good and protected the mini well. I'd not recommend the one for the 12.9" pro.
Fits poorly, can't access edge of screen, blocks sound and power, volume hard to access

Fit is horrible. For this price it should fit at least nicely. Corners and top edge are stitched very unevenly. One corner sticks out and is really ugly. Sound cutouts don't align so audio is severely muted, this effects the power cutout as well maligning it near impossible to insert the power. Design wise, you can't access the volume up/down buttons without a lot of effort. Worst of all the sides of the cover actually overlap the display so you can't access the very edge of the right side.
Note: I've done lots of reviews, I try to be fair and reasonable. This product fails in so many ways. I'm very disappointed.
Update: Still defective. Twelve South would not get involved in the issue, so I got a replacement from Amazon. Same poor fit. Some of front screen is covered, audio jack partly covered, sound holes don't line up, power is almost impossible to connect because it's misaligned, photos of poor fit attached.
Update 2: have sent two more messages on Twelve South website support with no reply. I've checked my junk mail etc. After using the case for a while, one of the biggest and insanely annoying failures is that you can't access the edge of the screen. This makes it so you can't get to the settings pull-up or to the news and alerts pull down. Makes the case nearly useless. At this point I'm seriously confused by any positive reviews.
Outside looks good, but everything else isn't.

I tried to give this enough time so I can give a good review. While I have not busted the zipper as a lot of users have had here, I do see quite a few quality issues with this product. It is quite unfortunate for the price you spend.
The good: The outside cover is still very good looking. It feels like a quality leather, but I am not expert.
The bad: The zipper is cheap (nylon), but it does work.
The buttons are a pain. At first they will be very hard to snap, and they don't line up well.
The leather around the ipad frays constantly.
The holes always get in the way... of light sensors and buttons. It gets really annoying.
When you put the iPad in a upright viewing mode the leather has a lot of slack. So it doesn't really hold it well.
I would agree with others, this is not a quality product, and not worth $80. It was an expensive lesson to learn, hopefully someone else can be prevented from wasting their money.
Doesn't actually fit an 3rd gen 2018 ipad 12.9

First off I'm a huge 12south fan, I have their Bookbook case for my Macbook pro, and my old ipad2. So naturally I jumped at their Bookbook case for my new 2018 12.9inch ipad pro. It looked to be a perfect compliment to their Macbook case. I was super excited to get this, but sadly even more disappointed at how poorly designed the case actually is. Have a look at the pictures I've posted with this review, you can see for yourself. There's a huge gap in the leather that is supposed to hug the ipad snug inside this thing, so much so the ipad slides around and falls out. The pencil which is designed to attach & charge to the ipad itself mounts in a separate pen holder inside the case which kills the charging feature. This case may work well with previous versions of the ipad, but for the 3rd generation 2018, 12.9 inch iPad pro it was a major let down. Hopefully the people of 12 South will make a new case that fits these new ipads as I love the discreet design of a classic leather bound book. Goes perfect with my bible that hides my suppressed Walther PP.
Great Quality! I Expect this to Last a Long Time!

I purchased this for my IPad Pro 9.7 2016. I know this is not the product it is listed for, but i wanted to test out the durability and quality of the brand before investing a lot of money into the correct case (which is more expensive) so far I am very happy with the quality! I love the natural leather look, yes it has some little scratches on it (from me using it) but that just adds to its character in my opinion.
So far I haven't had any issues with the zipper as some users have found.
I feel the quality is excellent and I will be purchasing the correct case in the future. I like the snaps inside that hold the IPad part in place when you want it to stay out. Or you can un-snap it to set up the iPad landscape style for watching movies, etc. I'm a very satisfied customer! (I can even tuck my Apple Pencil to the side of the iPad)
a nice cover, but didn't work for me.

It is a nice cover, but didn't work with an iPad Air 2. It takes a lot of re-arranging before you can take photos with this cover installed or have the iPad Air 2 leaning upright to use. The cover was purchased for a 1 year old iPad Air 2. The cover looks OK but the zippers would barely close. The fit was extremely tight. I did get it into the case, but the holes for the camera "barely" fit. The price is high and there is no option for standing it up as with the Classic Book Style. When closing the case, the ipad did not go into any form of sleep mode and remain in the "on" position. I am returning this cover primarily because it would not close as advertised, no book form, doesn't turn off the screen and the very high cost. It is hard to get the snaps in the back to snap the ipad in without feeling like you are going to snap the glass in the iPad Air 2. On the inside, the interior case that holds the item in sticks out on the right hand side. It's overall uncomfortable
Expensive, but cheap

BookBooks used to be much better in terms of overall quality. The leather and padding are significantly worse here than was the case with previous editions. It has a cheap feel to it, whereas the original model really felt like an old leather-bound book. Long-term durability seems doubtful. At $80+, it is over-priced.
One design problem bugs me: the notch for the home button is too small, making it tricky to get the fingerprint reader to work properly.
All that said, this is still the best cover available for iPads. I love the look, although not so much the feel anymore. Unlike some, I like the zippers; they beat any alternative that I have seen among competitors in terms of keeping the iPad safe and secure.
product was used for one week and the zipper broke junk!!!

Unlike some other reviewers, my case fits perfectly. After all, they do offer different cases for the various iPads. Simply order the one specifically made for your iPad model.
As for the zipper, my first case (iPad mini) did have zipper issues...only one end and simply because I used that specific zipper head every time. Once it failed, I just used the other head more gently. No problems since then.
My current case, 9.7" iPad Pro, has been a dream. Zipper heads are great. Has protected my device quite nicely. Best if at least zipped a little when not in use as it holds the screen cover in place in case should it take a tumble.
The exterior leather has scratched up a bit but this simply adds character. The case leather feels good to the touch as well. A very tactile pleasing item.
There is also an Apple Pen holder located at the inside spine. Fabric elastic bit and then approximately 1.5" lower is a leather tip pocket. (I have added a pen to the spot, in the first photo, simply as a reference.)
I have recommended this case to friends and family and will continue to do so. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
