Everything packed well. Items in set work well. With the exception of the pen. The writes well, but there is way to retract it. We placed the ink cartridge into Parker pen and it worked as it should. So there's nothing wrong with the ink cartridge itself. The problem lies with the pen itself. When you look down into pen the pen part of this clicker mechanism is missing. It's just a smooth cavity. Since we can't retract the ink cartridge it's not suited for EDC, so we'll have to find another job for this PE. And that's why there's a star missing. There's always the possibility that we're wrong (it happened once before !) Maybe there's a secret button (in case it falls into enemy hands).

This is a nice, 6 inch, well-made and well-engineered tactical pen. I particularly like the fact that the cap is flat and is threaded for use not only in the "defensive" mode but also in the "writing" mode. Too many of the other tactical pens on the market have caps that do not fit securely on the pen when it is being used to write with. Unlike other pens, this one is not bulky and has a robust pocket clip which secures the pen in a shirt or pants pocket without being so strong as to promote snagging. Finally, the pen is quite light, weighing only 1 oz., by my scales. My only suggestion for improvement would be to make it look less "tactical" and therefore more discreet for EDC by eliminating some or all of the holes/slots which do not seem to serve any useful purpose I can see. Great pen. I love that it still looks like a regular pen. Many of the "tactical" pens on the market look obvious weapons. This one is much more subdued. Just wish it came with a fisher space pen cartridge. Luckily the space pen cartridges do fit with a bit of force. I did need the plastic spaced that came in the refill package. Removable clip is also a great feature.

I've been using this pen at the job site for several days now and it's holding up well. It's a ballpoint so it writes smoothly and evenly without smudging. It's gotten some compliments from other people at the site. A lot of people haven't seen a heavy duty pen like this before that can handle getting beat up, smashed, and dropped without any problem. I've been recommending it to others and thought I should do it in here also.

Just What I Was Looking For !

This Pen is Just What I Wanted - Strength in a Nice Looking Tool for a Great Price. I picked up 2 - the blue one for me & the "gold" (pretty pink, really) one for my 21-year old daughter. She likes the way it looks, which means, she's likely to keep it within reach and use it if necessary. She knows how to shoot & fish, and now she knows how to use her new pen - thumb on the flat end and hard hits to head of the bad guy.

I like it because this is the pen the TSA is least likely to be interested in, if packed with other writing instruments and/or a notebook. I feel a little too vulnerable on a flight, without a pointy pen in my carry-on, with this one I'll fly with complete confidence. This pen will make it into my place of work as well. Nice little pocket pal to have with me when I'm out and about around town too. High Quality. Good Looking. Extremely Effective. Nice Knowing my Kiddo has hers with her during her final year of college in the big city. Good Stuff.

Just right

Update: Customer service could not have been better. Both daughters go to college and use them every day. They love them and customer service sent a couple extra ink cartridges as promised.

Soon I will be buying the two pack when I can.

Very Light Weight but Long Tactical Pen.

Very light weight but longer than average tactical pen. It weighs just under 1 ounce on my scale and is 6" long in the closed condition and a bit longer with the cap on the back for writing. It has extensive lightening holes in both the pen body and cap, contributing to the light weight. Appears to have a anodized finish with the pocket clip painted on my blue one. Includes a tungsten carbide glass breaker point. Long and slow pitch thread used for the cap so it takes about 5 full turns to remove or fully tighten, a disadvantage IMO. Based on the unused space in the cap when it is on either end of the pen, the pen could easily be shortened by 1/2" or more which would make pocket carry easier and lighten it a bit more. Overall though the pen seems excellent for the price. The package includes a credit card size multitool which might have some uses but seems to me to be impractical in that the so called knife edge is quite dull and the tools on a Swiss Army Knife seem more functional.

This pen writes nicely and is beautifully machined and finished. It's super light weight aluminum, relatively thin, long, has 3-4 rotations of threading and O-rings to hold on the cap and sections together and feels plenty solid to take out a car window or poke the heck out of a bad guy. Mine also came with a neat credit card size bottle opener.

This is a great pen and defense weapon. I have large hands so this is perfect with persons of similar attributes. The color is not gold but pinkish-gold.

I like these pens. Several points: The cap top is flat, so that when using as a glass breaker or weapon, you can put your thumb over the top for added grip & stability. It is very light weight while being strong enough. The cap screws on both ends-very important! Otherwise, if an attacker grappled the pen, you could be left holding an empty cap. It feels substantial enough that I am not concerned to use it for "serious" purposes (glass breakage, etc.)

There are more expensive pens out there, but functionally, this one ticks the boxes for me. Action speaks louder than words: Blue Top's custumer service is absolutely the best I have ever seen from an Amazon seller.
