The Coleman 4-Panel 800L LED Quad Pro Lantern will be your go-to device for camping, power outages, and more. Four detachable panels make it easy to take light with you without carrying the entire lantern. Pop off one or all of the panels to use as personal lights or flashlights when navigating a dark campsite or house. Each panel has its own controls and is magnetized to easily attach to metal surfaces, like toolboxes or car hoods, for hands-free lighting when you need it. You can also flip out the fold-down handle to prop the panel up on a table. When you return the panels back to the base, the batteries automatically recharge. If every panel needs to be removed, a light on the base stays on to help you find your way back. The base also features a USB charging port to keep your mobile devices powered. Combined, the lantern shines up to 800 lumens for as long as 20 hours, or 100 lumens on low for up to 400 hours. The lantern is IPX4 water-resistant and its LED bulbs will last a lifetime.

Good camp light

It should have a charging port, since the small lights will put a steady drain on the D-cells...so you'll want rechargeable D cells, and they should have their own charger.

The biggest problem is that the best batteries (EBL D Size 10000mAh NiMH Rechargeable) are too long to fit. I was able to fix the problem by removing the battery door and sanding down the plastic contact plate by about 1mm. It was easy to do, but only for the DIY crowd.

I'm going to add a charging port too.

Great little lantern

We have the original Coleman lantern which was larger and featured a click lock panel attachment. These are attached with magnets, and we've found that if you knock against the panel accidentally, they can fly off.

That being said, it is a handy light and lights up our large kitchen very well during power outages. The stand on each of the panels is quite useful if you need to keep your hands free.

This lantern is the bomb. Those side panels come off and have a part on the back that holds it up at whatever angle you need. When you have all together at full power, it lights up my whole bedroom. I will say, it takes a lot of batteries but they last me a long time and you can get Amazon's brand and they are inexpensive. I gave this lantern and a box of Amazon's batteries to a couple for Christmas and they use it all the time and love me for it! And that's always nice.🙂

I had one of the earlier quad lights and while I really liked it, I really love this light. In general, it puts off a pleasant colored light. It has 3 brightness settings which are really handy depending on what you're doing. When off of the main light, each of the panels has 2 brightness settings (also real handy), as well as a super bright flashlight. With all panels removed the base has enough lights to be a formidable lantern all on its own. I do haul it in the box, so that the panels don't come off in the car getting jostled around, as they are held in place by magnets. Its also nifty that it will run on either 4 or 8 D cells. Had it on a couple of 3 day trips and haven't had to change batteries yet.

I bought this to use for a forecasted hurricane with power outages and was not disappointed. It is sturdy, but easy to handle and I really like the design of the four panels (each the size of a cell phone) that clip off and can be easily carried about the house, into the bathroom, outside, etc. as a simple flashlight. With all four panels slipped together on the main lantern, it is VERY bright and runs a long time on the batteries used. Bonus is the ability to charge other devices with the USB ports.

We often lose power in hurricanes for a day or two and this is a lifesaver.

I was really happy to have found this lantern until I realized "rechargeable" meant only the led lights. ..not the battery. It's not what I was expecting but I really like the separate, removable lights.

This lantern by Coleman is pretty good but, has a few things that I wish were different. The lantern is easy to use just click the button on top to turn on. The overall design and feel are really nice and the ability to detach the sides to use as flashlights is really great and works perfectly. The fact that you have to install 6 DD batteries is kind of a bummer, I wish there was a rechargeable battery like with the panels that can be removed. The light itself isn't super bright like you think it would be as large as this lantern is. My last complaint is that there is a USB on top to plug into but I couldn't find how long that would last anywhere so I honestly would only use it in an emergency. The Lantern is durable even after I dropped it a couple of times, it stilled worked just fine just had to pop the panels back in because they are just held with magnets.

When I first got this all four detachable panels worked but any I attached at one location would not turn on when I used the top button. After gently pulling the connector pins out just a bit it has since worked flawlessly. It does a great job of lighting up the area around our campsites and the kids love having a night light they can take with them to bed.

Coleman Support slow ineffective

I bought 4 of the 2panel LED Lanterns. 2 of them had non-functional detachable panels. Had to contact Coleman support directly and now after almost 2 months, they have only shipped me 1 replacement, which also has 1 defective panel, and are claiming they cannot replace the 2nd defective unit.

So now I have 3 defective units (2 original and 1 replacement). The panels do work when they are attached to the main base, just not when detached.

And now that they had me use Sharpie marker to put Incident number on the panels, if they are not going to replace them, I cannot give them as gifts to the people I bought them for.

What a total waste of money and time. I remember decades ago when Coleman was a leader in quality products, not now though.

Terrific lantern, versatile

I purchased this lantern on the recommendation of a friend who lives in the country with little outdoor lighting. I love that you can use the lantern for light with the panels attached or use each panel independently like a flashlight. I keep buying good quality flashlights but find the batteries burn out even when I'm sure I've turned them completely off. These panels stay charged for a long time and operate as bright, brighter or focused flashlight. I use the panels a lot but love having the full lantern for my emergency kit.
